Chapter 407: Chapter 89: Lapras’ Choice

After the celebratory victory of the Victor's Cup, Ash, Misty, and Tracey lingered on Pummelo Island for two days.

They soaked in the adoration of fans while enjoying the island's serene beaches. However, as the crowds began to thin, the trio decided it was time to move on.

Setting their sights on Valencia Island, where Brock awaited, they embarked on Lapras for a leisurely journey.

The route stretched across the vast waters of the Orange Islands, offering them time to relax and explore the small islands along the way.

Lapras, as steadfast as ever, carried them gracefully over the waves. They paused at various points to rest, enjoy picturesque scenery, and share campfire stories under the stars. It was an adventure as tranquil as it was memorable.

One sunny afternoon, as they cruised toward their next destination, Lapras suddenly let out a loud, excited cry. It veered sharply to the left, surprising its passengers.

"What's happening?" Tracey exclaimed, steadying himself as his sketchbook almost toppled into the water.

Misty clung to Lapras' shell for balance, but Ash steadied her with a quick grip. Peering ahead, he spotted several dark shapes moving across the glistening water.

"It's a group of Lapras!" Ash said, recognizing the familiar figures gliding effortlessly over the waves.

Tracey adjusted his binoculars and confirmed Ash's observation. "There must be at least twenty or thirty of them! Could it be... Lapras' family?"

Ash's Lapras cried out again, speeding up toward the pod. As they approached, one Lapras with a lighter hue swam forward from the group, meeting Ash's Lapras halfway.

The two nuzzled each other affectionately, their joyous cries echoing across the water.

"That must be its sister!" Ash deduced, smiling warmly at the reunion.

Moments later, two larger Lapras emerged from the group and approached cautiously. They observed Ash and his friends curiously before focusing on Lapras. Their imposing size and mature demeanor made it clear they were Lapras' parents.

"Rapp!" Lapras called happily, introducing Ash and the others to its family.

Lapras' parents inspected the humans closely, their watchful gazes softening as they recognized the care and affection Lapras had received. Meanwhile, the rest of the pod drew nearer, curious but cautious.

Tracey couldn't resist pulling out his sketchbook, eager to capture the heartwarming sight of a Lapras family reunited.

Misty, captivated by the beauty of Lapras' sister, secretly hoped she might convince one to join her team.

As Lapras joyfully recounted its journey with Ash, its parents listened attentively. The sister chimed in, explaining how they had been searching for Lapras ever since it had been separated from them as a child.

The reunion was bittersweet. Lapras' mother expressed her longing for the family to be whole again, urging Lapras to return to the safety of the pod.

But Lapras hesitated. It turned to Ash, its eyes filled with a mix of gratitude and uncertainty.

"Rapp..." it cried softly, torn between staying with its newfound family and continuing its adventures with Ash.

Ash knelt beside Lapras, understanding its conflict. "It's your choice, Lapras. Whatever you decide, I'll support you."

Lapras' sister nudged it gently, encouraging it to follow its heart. "Rapp," she cooed, her voice calm and reassuring.

Lapras took a deep breath, gazing first at its family and then at Ash. Finally, with a determined cry, it turned back to Ash, choosing to remain by his side.

Lapras' parents exchanged glances, their initial disappointment softening into acceptance.

They saw the resolve in their child's eyes and understood its desire for adventure. Reluctantly, they nodded their approval.

As the pod began to drift away, Misty stepped forward, her voice tinged with hope. "Wait! Would any of you like to come with me? I promise to take great care of you!"

Most of the Lapras hesitated, their cautious nature urging them to stay with the group. But Lapras' sister lingered, looking back at her family. She then turned to Misty and swam closer, her gaze filled with curiosity and trust.

"She's coming!" Misty gasped in delight as the lighter-colored Lapras nuzzled her gently.

Lapras' parents looked on in surprise but ultimately nodded, trusting their daughter's judgment.

"Thank you!" Misty exclaimed, tears glistening in her eyes as she hugged her new partner. "I'll make sure you're happy and safe!"

The two siblings shared a final nuzzle, their bond evident in the way they rubbed necks affectionately.

With one last look at its family, Ash's Lapras let out a cry of gratitude and excitement, ready to continue its journey with Ash and its newfound sibling by its side.

---

The sun set over the horizon as the pod disappeared into the distance, leaving the trio with a sense of renewal.

Misty turned to Ash, her face glowing with happiness. "Thank you for encouraging Lapras. I couldn't have asked for a better partner!"

Ash grinned, watching as the two Lapras swam side by side. "Let's make sure their journey with us is unforgettable."

The ocean ahead sparkled like a tapestry of endless possibilities, reflecting the excitement of their adventures yet to come.

Lapras and its sister, now part of the team, embodied the spirit of exploration and the bonds that made their journey truly extraordinary.
