Chapter 308: Through Time and Space, Return to the Ancient Tribe!
"Look here—this is the Time-Space Axis. That topmost ring represents the realm where Arceus resides.
Surrounding Arceus's realm are two spaces—Dialga's time domain and Palkia's spatial dimension.
These two rotate around Arceus's core space, maintaining balance.
Beneath Arceus's realm lies our own—the real world. Together, these major realms form an intricate network, linked to one another. But if any one part is disturbed, the entire system is affected."
Sheena patiently explained the cosmic structure to everyone.
Cynthia, notebook in hand, quietly jotted down notes.
Dawn, eyes wide with curiosity, inspected the Time-Space Axis from every angle.
Pikachu and Piplup, meanwhile, were happily wandering around the grand temple, full of energy.
Ash moved closer to Cynthia and whispered softly in her ear, "Historical research shouldn't focus solely on Sinnoh's past. The entire Pokémon world is full of legends. In Sinnoh, Arceus is said to have created the world. In Hoenn, Groudon and Kyogre formed the land and sea. And in Kanto, it's believed Mew is the origin of all life."
Cynthia's eyes lit up.
That perspective matched her own beliefs perfectly. She had brought this up to her grandmother, Professor Carolina, before—but her grandmother had told her to first complete Sinnoh's historical research in depth.
"My ancestors left behind many legends," Sheena said. "One of them tells of a man named Damos who once saved the injured Arceus.
To repay his kindness, Arceus extracted five sources from its own seventeen Plates of Life—the Earth Plate, Splash Plate, Meadow Plate, Zap Plate, and Draco Plate.
It fused them together into a powerful artifact known as the Jewel of Life—a gemstone formed from the union of five elements.
Thanks to the Jewel of Life, the barren land of Michina flourished and came to life.
But since Arceus had sacrificed a portion of its power, they made a pact: once Michina was prosperous again, the Jewel of Life would be returned."
Dawn clenched her fists. "That Damos… how could he betray Arceus like that?!"
Cynthia remained silent, thoughtful.
"There's always more to the story," Ash said calmly. "Until you know every detail, never rush to pass judgment."
His words made both Sheena and her brother Kevin nod in agreement.
"You're right. We must return the Jewel of Life to Arceus. And according to legend, the Beast of Thunder and the Beast's Guardian would appear to help us. Ash, you and Pikachu… you've arrived right as Arceus is awakening…"
But suddenly—Sheena's face froze in shock.
She whipped her head toward the Time-Space Axis.
The sphere representing Arceus's realm… was shaking violently!
"It's waking up! Arceus is coming!"
Sheena turned to Ash with urgency. "Ash, Pikachu, just in case things go wrong… I need your help to return the Jewel of Life to Arceus."
Kevin stepped forward with a golden lotus pedestal in his arms. He opened it—revealing a brilliant emerald-green gem inside.
But Ash shook his head.
"We can't return this… not yet. I suspect this Jewel of Life is a fake."
Sheena's eyes widened.
"A seasoned Trainer can sense energy. If this were real, it would contain the essence of Earth, Water, Grass, Lightning, and Dragon—fused together. That kind of power doesn't just sit still. Try sensing it for yourself."
Of course, the talk about energy sensing was just an excuse Ash came up with—but it worked.
"Lucario, come on out. Help us search for something with a matching energy—something strong and radiant."
Ash summoned Lucario, trusting it to find the real Jewel of Life hidden somewhere in the Michina Temple.
He could've used Gardevoir, or even summoned Mewtwo, Latias, or Cresselia. Their psychic powers could've scanned the entire temple in seconds.
But he chose not to overwhelm the situation.
As Lucario began its search, Ash joined Sheena and the others outside the temple.
Cynthia and Dawn followed close behind.
To see Arceus—the Creator of All Things—with their own eyes?
It was beyond belief!
———
Outside the temple...
A centaur-like Pokémon, pure white in color, stood suspended in the sky, towering and majestic, its gaze cast down upon the land.
It wasn't just looking at the ground…
It was staring directly at Michina—and at the Michina Temple.
Inside its body, five Plates of Life were missing.
The balance within its divine core was disrupted. If those sources weren't returned, its entire being might collapse.
Sheena stepped into the temple courtyard, her heart trembling.
Even if Ash believed the Jewel was a fake… she had to try.
"I—I offer back the Jewel of Life! Please don't be angry anymore!" she cried out, raising the gem high into the air.
Arceus turned its gaze to the gem.
Sheena placed it upon a stone pedestal.
Arceus floated forward… but no matter how much it focused, it couldn't feel the connection.
It didn't respond to the energy at all.
CRACK!
Arceus suddenly stomped forward, crushing the emerald orb beneath its hoof.
It shattered into fragments.
"Humans… you will now face my judgment!"
The enraged god roared, summoning a brilliant beam of destruction—
Judgment!
Arceus's signature move!
Depending on the Plates within its body, Judgment can adapt to any type.
If you're Dragon-type, it becomes Ice or Dragon. If you're Fire, it turns into Water. It always hits your weakness.
Right now, Arceus was missing five Plates—Electric, Dragon, Ground, Water, and Grass—so it couldn't manifest those types.
But this divine attack… still wasn't something Ash needed to block.
Because in the sky above…
BOOOOOOM!
Two colossal figures materialized in midair—Dialga and Palkia!
The temporal and spatial dragons had arrived!
Each generated an energy shield, blocking Arceus's Judgment from hitting the temple.
Ash silently withdrew his System's "Eye of Insight."
This… was the first Pokémon that the system couldn't analyze.
No level. No rating.
Just a blank, blinding presence.
The Creator… truly lived up to its name.
"GRRRRRRRRR—"
Arceus let out a cry of rage.
It shifted Judgment's type, converting it to directly counter the dragons.
But Dialga… turned to Ash.
It knew Ash had befriended many Legendary Pokémon.
Its eyes flashed.
Starlight patterns shimmered across its body—points of energy like galaxies across its scales.
It controlled Time.
It understood the true reason Arceus was furious.
And it was ready… to send Ash back through time—to the ancient era of Damos and the betrayal.
To stop history before it ever happened.
Ash opened his mouth to protest.
Lucario was probably close to finding the real Jewel of Life…
But then he realized something important.
Even if he did return the gem now, Arceus's memory of betrayal—its hatred toward humanity—would never vanish.
It would always remain a thorn in its heart.
"…Fine," Ash muttered. "Let's go back. It's time to rewrite the past."
