Senior Brother Aiden and Jayden exchanged a few words before departing.

Now, only three people remained on the expansive battlefield: Chris, Jayden, and the referee.

The referee confirmed that both Chris and Jayden were ready and began to announce the rules of the match.

"This is the practical test of the Junior Breeder Qualification Examination. Both participants may use three Pokémon each, with the option to switch Pokémon during the battle. The match concludes when one side has all three Pokémon unable to battle!"

"Now, please release your Pokémon!"

Chris and Jayden simultaneously retrieved Poké Balls from their belts, nodded to each other, and launched them high into the air.

In a flash of silver light, two Pokémon appeared on the battlefield.

As this was only a Junior Breeder Qualification exam, the practical test wasn't overly challenging. Chris had reviewed videos from previous years and estimated that the Pokémon strength required for the test would hover around level 30.

Thus, Chris chose to start with his Tyrunt, already at level 32.

[Tyrunt (Rock/Dragon Type)]

[Level: 32]

[Ability: Strong Jaw (Boosts the power of biting moves by 50%)]

[Stats: HP (31), Attack (31), Special Attack (31), Defense (31), Special Defense (31), Speed (31)]

[Moves: Tackle, Tail Whip, Roar, Ancient Power, Charm, Bite, Quick Attack, Dragon Tail, Stomp, Rock Slide, Crunch, Rock Smash]

[Held Item: Hard Stone]

Chris was eager to train Tyrunt further—only seven levels away from evolving into a Tyrantrum, which he couldn't wait to ride.

Meanwhile, Jayden sent out Ludicolo. The Pokémon resembled a jolly dancer, with its round body, leafy sombrero-like top, and short limbs constantly moving in rhythm.

Ludicolo was a dual Grass/Water type. Both of these types countered Rock, but Tyrunt's Dragon typing negated that disadvantage. On paper, neither side had a significant type advantage.

The referee raised his hand, signaling both trainers to get ready, then swiftly brought it down. "Begin the battle!"

"Rain Dance!" Jayden wasted no time initiating his strategy.

Ludicolo clapped its hands against its chest, summoning dark clouds over the battlefield. Rain began to pour heavily, and Ludicolo seemed to thrive in the wet conditions, swaying excitedly from side to side.

Chris recalled that Ludicolo had three possible abilities: Swift Swim (doubling its Speed in rain), Rain Dish (restoring HP during rain), and Own Tempo (preventing confusion). Given the use of Rain Dance, Chris suspected one of the first two abilities was in play.

"Tyrunt, use Crunch!" Chris commanded confidently. Whatever ability Ludicolo had wouldn't matter against Tyrunt's raw strength.

Tyrunt's eyes locked onto Ludicolo, its jaws glowing with a dark energy. With powerful hind legs propelling it forward, Tyrunt charged like a force of nature.

"Hydro Pump!" Jayden countered, his tone composed.

Ludicolo murmured softly before unleashing a massive stream of water. The azure torrent blasted toward Tyrunt with incredible force, meeting it head-on.

Tyrunt didn't even have time to react. The colossal Hydro Pump engulfed its entire body, driving it across the battlefield with such force that it crashed into the wall behind Chris.

When Tyrunt hit the ground, it was clear—Tyrunt had lost its ability to fight.

The sheer power and speed of the Hydro Pump made Chris frown. It was unnervingly strong. His own Greninja, which had top-tier potential and had been meticulously trained with energy blocks, boosted further by a treasure-level Mystic Water, could unleash Hydro Pumps of this caliber—but only at above level 40.

For Jayden's Ludicolo to deliver such a devastating attack, it had to be at least level 50, especially if its Special Attack individual values were maxed out and it was holding an item like Mystic Water.

Level 50?

This wasn't a battle suited for a Junior Breeder's Pokémon test.

A cold glint appeared in Chris's eyes. From Jayden's earlier commands, Chris began to piece things together. Jayden wasn't here to test his own strength—he was here to overwhelm.

Rain Dance had amplified the power of Water-type moves. If Ludicolo was indeed holding Mystic Water, its Hydro Pump's power was boosted significantly. Factoring in both Rain Dance and the held item, the Hydro Pump was at least 1.7 times stronger than normal. A level 50 Ludicolo with this setup? No level 32 Tyrunt could stand a chance.

The referee confirmed the outcome. "Tyrunt is unable to battle. Ludicolo wins!"

Even the referee glanced at Jayden, surprised at his use of such a potent Pokémon for a Junior Breeder exam.

But Jayden showed no intention of switching Pokémon. Standing with arms crossed, he looked at Chris smugly, waiting for the next move.

Chris locked eyes with Jayden, his frown slowly turning into a cold smile. If Jayden wanted to flaunt his power and bully others, Chris had no intention of backing down.

He silently reached for another Poké Ball and hurled it onto the battlefield.

With a thunderous "BOOM," the ground cracked beneath the weight of the Pokémon that emerged. The force of its landing left a spiderweb of fissures on the battlefield floor.

"Tyranitar!!"

The battlefield shook with a deafening roar as Chris's Tyranitar appeared. A storm of sand erupted from the ground, tearing through the dark rain clouds above and halting the rainy weather. The battlefield was now enveloped in a harsh Sandstorm, with Tyranitar standing tall in its midst, radiating a terrifying aura.

Tyranitar's massive body towered over Ludicolo. Its presence alone exuded raw, unyielding power, and its crimson eyes glinted with rage, mirroring the anger of its trainer. The Sandstorm whipped around the battlefield, transforming it into Tyranitar's domain.

Chris had made his decision. Though Tyranitar was weak to Grass- and Water-type moves, he wasn't playing to type advantages anymore. This battle wasn't just about strategy—it was about proving strength.

"You like to throw your weight around with overpowered Pokémon, huh?" Chris muttered, his voice low and icy. "Then let's see who outpowers whom."

With a determined glare, Chris prepared for the next phase of the battle. It was time to turn the tables.
