Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Celebi
Celebi, the mythical Pokémon of legend, possesses the power to heal wounds and make plant life flourish. But its most extraordinary ability is traveling through time.
To traverse into the past means having the potential to alter history itself.
Because of this, Celebi has always been a target for ambitious individuals who seek to rewrite history and shape the world according to their own desires.
However, throughout history, no record of a successful attempt has ever been documented.
Some believe that this is because history has already been altered, and those living within it are simply unable to perceive the changes.
That theory sounds plausible, but Celebi's powers are far more miraculous than they imagine. By sensing time ripples, it can foresee future events and avoid calamities.
Whenever history veers toward darkness, Celebi appears to guide it back toward a brighter future.
This mission has accompanied them since their birth. As for who assigned it—perhaps the embodiment of time itself, ensuring its own continuity, preventing the future from falling into oblivion. Or maybe it was the will of the Creator, safeguarding the world it had formed.
Celebi's deep connection to life may stem from its desire to witness a future filled with vitality.
Johto Region—Ilex Forest
Amidst the dense foliage of Ilex Forest, Celebi hovered between the branches, taking a brief rest. Because of its presence, the forest appeared lusher than ever.
Suddenly, the time ripples around it trembled, sending a flood of visions into its mind.
In the future, it would be captured by a man—who would then exploit its powers to alter history, resurrecting a massive evil organization.
That organization would grow at an alarming rate, conquering the world. But even that would not satisfy its leader's ambitions. His gaze would then shift toward other worlds, bringing disaster upon them.
The moment Celebi awoke from the vision, it immediately activated its powers.
It could not allow such a future to unfold.
Without hesitation, Celebi began leaping through time over and over again, searching for the one timeline where a turning point existed.
And then—it arrived in a completely unfamiliar forest.
A forest overflowing with life energy, where different ecosystems merged together. Celebi's pale blue eyes flickered.
It had found it.
The turning point was here.
"Tch, it slipped away again. That crafty little thing!"
A burly man scowled at the device in his hand. The time ripples were fading rapidly—meaning Celebi had vanished from this forest.
"Proton, did you lose the target again?" A man with green hair, wearing a black suit and a beret, approached him with a smirk.
The one called Proton bore a deep scar over his right eye, giving him an intimidating presence. Seeing the smug expression on the man before him only made him angrier. He spat the man's name with irritation:
"Lance!"
"Now, now, don't take it out on me," Lance replied with feigned sympathy. "This is the third time, even I'm starting to lose patience. Are you sure that machine from your 'business partner' actually works?"
He shrugged. Currently, Proton was working with Team Dawn, the most powerful underground organization. But with the way he was obsessing over his so-called 'boss,' Lance suspected they were merely using him as a useful pawn.
"Damn it! No matter what, I will bring Giovanni back and rebuild Team Rocket! Or do you have a better idea?!" Proton punched a tree trunk in frustration, sending leaves fluttering down.
"Archer has gathered the remnants of Team Rocket, awaiting Giovanni's return. Athena has joined an experimental organization, trying to alter time just like you."
"As for Lambda… well, to be honest, I have no idea where that guy is. Maybe he's disguised as someone else, enjoying life somewhere in the world."
"…What are you getting at?" Proton narrowed his eyes. He despised how Lance always spoke in riddles. The man was twisted—polite on the surface, ruthless at his core.
"I can get in touch with all of them," Lance smirked coldly. "I never liked you, but… hmph."
"Your plan is actually the most reliable one." His voice was laced with reluctance.
Proton withdrew his fist from the tree. "You wouldn't do this for free. Name your price."
"Heh, you're finally showing some brains," Lance chuckled, clapping his hands together. "Alright, listen up—I need the contact information of a researcher on Team Dawn's council. I intend to strike a deal."
"If I'm not mistaken, Team Dawn's real leaders are keeping you on a leash. The organization is basically a band of mercenaries with no loyalty. Do you really think they'd give you a machine that actually works?"
"I'll offer that researcher something truly worthwhile to create a functioning device."
"If you can't even do that much, then don't bother contacting me again. Just keep being Team Dawn's lapdog." Lance adjusted his beret, turning to leave.
Proton fell silent. He still trusted his Team Rocket comrades more. Finally, he spoke:
"I'll do it. But you need to tell me what you're offering. The researcher will only accept information that interests him."
Lance's smirk widened. He clapped his hands again before replying,
"Of course. Just tell him two words—Mewtwo."
It is said that Celebi appears in beautiful forests.
And now, Sunset Forest was exactly the kind of place it favored.
Flitting through the trees, Celebi marveled at the sheer vitality filling the air. The plants here flourished without its aid. It didn't yet know where the turning point lay, so it continued flying.
Near a wooden pole crackling with electricity, Celebi curiously watched a Morpeko gleefully shocking itself. Wait, is that plant actually conducting electricity?!
In a sunny meadow, Celebi perched on a branch, clapping as it watched a group of Lilligant twirl in a graceful dance. Such lively movements—how delightful!
A sharp cry from above caught Celebi's attention. Looking up, it saw a sleek black bird—Corviknight—soaring powerfully across the sky. Majestic.
Over a vast lake, Celebi skimmed just above the water's surface, enjoying the tranquility—until it suddenly felt a crushing presence and immediately fled.
In a dreamlike forest glowing with luminescent mushrooms, Celebi poked at one out of curiosity—only for it to burst, showering it in a glowing dust cloud. Pfft!
In a lush rainforest, the air was thick with moisture. Puddles dotted the ground, evidence of a recent downpour.
Celebi witnessed a Steenee practicing Stomp with great determination. Suddenly, it glowed brightly—evolving into Tsareena.
In the Eternal Forest, Celebi was surprised to see bear Pokémon and Combee peacefully coexisting.
In the Snowy Forest, despite it being summer, the trees were coated in snow. Celebi paused briefly to admire three finely crafted snowmen before continuing its exploration.
And then—
Celebi finally arrived at a wooden cabin.
Its gaze locked onto a human.
A strange sense of familiarity filled its heart.
Celebi's expression shifted in shock. This is where my new connection is?
It fluttered closer, staring at the man before it.
So… you're the one called Summer?
Since when did I gain such a mysterious connection?
You better give me a good explanation!
