About half an hour later, Sato stepped out of the old village chief's house. His expression was calm, but there was a frightening intensity in his bright eyes.

Instead of heading anywhere else, he returned directly to the inn to rest.

In a single room on the inn's third floor, Sato lay on a sofa.

The room's lights were off, but it was still somewhat illuminated due to a crimson stone resting on the table before him.

This crimson stone, roughly the size of an adult's fist, was translucent and gleamed brilliantly, with what seemed like flames flickering inside it. From within, it radiated intense light and heat.

In the dark room, an "Ω" symbol faintly emerged from the stone's interior.

The warmth and light from this extraordinary stone made the room not only bright but also cozy, warding off the chill of the night.

At the doorway, Growlithe lay down, staring intently at the stone as if it were a delectable treat. Its small eyes glimmered with a strong desire.

The other Pokémon in the room, however, showed little interest in the glowing stone. Most were curled up in comfortable spots, sleeping soundly.

Among them, Bellossom seemed to dislike the stone, deliberately keeping her distance.

This was no ordinary object—it was a Fire Stone, one of the rewards Sato received from the village chief. Not just any Fire Stone, it was of unparalleled quality, exceeding even the highest-grade examples.

The system's appraisal revealed its details:

--------------------------------

Item: Mutated Fire Stone

Quality: Unknown

Effects: Facilitates evolution for specific Pokémon, significantly enhancing their potential and offering a chance to awaken new fire-type abilities.

Notes: This Fire Stone once came into contact with Groudon's Primal Orb, absorbing a faint trace of its power. As a result, its quality has been greatly elevated, and it now possesses a transformative power capable of fundamentally enhancing fire-type Pokémon.

The moment Sato saw this Fire Stone and verified its details using the system, he was utterly shocked.

It was this extraordinary Fire Stone that convinced Sato of the truth behind the information the old village chief had shared with him earlier.

The so-called Guardians of Mt. Pyre were an ancient lineage tasked with safeguarding Groudon's Red Orb and Kyogre's Blue Orb across generations. Unfortunately, this ancient lineage vanished over 500 years ago, lost to the sands of time.

Since the creation of these orbs, which held the power to awaken Groudon and Kyogre, countless villains had sought to seize them. Whenever the orbs fell into the wrong hands, the Hoenn region faced catastrophic turmoil.

The Guardians of Mt. Pyre bore the heavy responsibility of protecting and recovering the orbs. They waged countless fierce battles against evildoers, playing pivotal roles in many legendary tales of salvation sung across the Hoenn region.

However, these constant battles exacted a steep toll.

Over 500 years ago, during a rebellion, the last legitimate heir to the Guardians' title perished. With their rightful lineage lost, internal power struggles erupted among the Guardians' remaining branches, fueled by the schemes of malevolent forces.

The once-glorious lineage fell into disarray and near extinction. Only a handful of family members who had left the main clan survived.

Without sufficient strength, the Guardians of Mt. Pyre could no longer fulfill their duties. Their place was taken by another powerful family—the illustrious Mikuri clan, now the most formidable family in the Hoenn region.

The Guardians of Mt. Pyre became scattered remnants, clinging to survival. They abandoned their ancient mission and began spreading across the world.

White River Village was established by a branch of the Guardians claiming to be the most legitimate heirs of their lineage. Their aim was to restore their former glory, but time's relentless march proved unforgiving. The once-proud lineage was now a shadow of its former self.

Today, the Mikuri clan has transformed Mt. Pyre into an impregnable fortress. Attempting to breach it and claim the orbs is an almost impossible task.

Since the rebellion 500 years ago, when the Guardians' internal strife led to the orbs falling into villainous hands, the two orbs have remained securely in the shrine atop Mt. Pyre.

Not even the precursors of Team Magma and Team Aqua, with their deep ties to this history, managed to claim the orbs from the Mikuri clan. Instead, they met utter destruction.

Though the Guardians of Mt. Pyre are no longer a powerful force, they retain detailed knowledge of Mt. Pyre's secrets, passed down through generations. This knowledge remains invaluable.

Team Magma's current objective is to seize Groudon's Red Orb from Mt. Pyre. However, compared to the Mikuri clan, Team Magma is like a novice learning to walk.

Recently, Team Magma discovered that White River Village housed descendants of the Guardians. They also learned that the village chief, Margat, and his son were key inheritors of the Guardians' secrets.

Initially, Team Magma planned to abduct Carlot. However, his constant presence in the village and the protection offered by its guards made this difficult. His influential status also meant any action against him would immediately draw the League's attention.

Instead, they targeted Marcus, Carlot's son, who led White River Village's guard into Poochyena Forest to harvest berries. Seizing this rare opportunity, Team Magma captured him.

Poochyena Forest, known for its dangers, provided the perfect cover. Even if Marcus and his team vanished there, few would suspect foul play. By staging the scene to look like a wolf pack attack, Team Magma could easily avoid suspicion.

Marcus was currently undergoing intense interrogation by Team Magma, who were also using the lives of the village guards as leverage to extract information about Mt. Pyre's secrets.
