The combination of Sunny Day, Chlorophyll, Growth, and Weather Ball created an incredibly powerful synergy. Once connected, its destructive force was undeniably terrifying.
Palot's training of his Victreebel was impressive. Its mastery of Sweet Scent to control the battlefield, combined with the above synergy of moves and abilities, left most opponents with no option but defeat.
Unfortunately for Palot, neither he nor his Victreebel could have anticipated the blinding speed of Sato's Shiny Beautifly.
Even under Sunny Day, where Victreebel's speed doubled, it still couldn't keep up with a Beautifly whose base speed stat was merely 65. Victreebel, with a base speed stat of 70, should have easily outrun it when Chlorophyll activated.
"I protest! This is cheating! How could a Beautifly possibly be faster than Victreebel? Victreebel has a higher base speed stat, and with Chlorophyll boosting it, there's no way that Beautifly could be faster!" Palot bellowed in outrage.
Earlier, he had been confident in making Sato his stepping stone to a tenth straight victory. But now, humiliated and unable to accept that Sato's Shiny Beautifly outsped his Victreebel, Palot erupted in anger.
"Boo~~!"
The audience jeered at Palot's unsportsmanlike behavior, mocking his inability to take a loss gracefully. Palot's face turned an even deeper shade of red.
"Trainer 2569, your opponent has accused you of cheating. Do you consent to an investigation? Rest assured, we'll only review the battle footage in slow motion; no harm will come to your Pokémon," the referee asked Sato.
As an official referee of the Battle Dome, he had seen countless battles, including ones involving Beautifly. Yet, Sato's Shiny Beautifly displayed an extraordinary level of speed and power, unlike anything in his memory.
"I have no objections. Feel free to check. However," Sato said, turning coldly toward Palot, "if it turns out I didn't cheat, you'd better prepare a good fucking explanation. Baselessly accusing a registered League trainer in front of everyone is a serious offense. "
An intimidating aura radiated from Sato as he spoke, making Palot tremble.
False accusations of cheating, especially in a League-sanctioned venue like the Battle Dome, could ruin a trainer's reputation permanently.
Sato's sharp reaction made it clear he wasn't going to let this slide.
"If I'm wrong… I-I'll give you a satisfactory apology," Palot stammered, sweat dripping as he faced Sato's imposing presence. He realized too late that he had picked a fight with someone far beyond his league.
"Since Trainer 2569 has no objections, we'll review the footage in slow motion," the referee said, wiping sweat from his forehead. He no longer doubted Sato or his Pokémon.
Trainers like Sato—those with battlefield experience and hardened resolve—often carried one or two monstrously strong Pokémon, a testament to their survival in harsher environments.
The large screen displayed a slow-motion replay of the battle. The audience watched as Shiny Beautifly's explosive burst of speed stunned even the most seasoned trainers. Expert analysts confirmed that there had been no foul play.
If anything, it seemed like Sato's training had allowed the Shiny Beautifly to develop techniques that harnessed its speed in unprecedented ways.
"Boo~~!"
The jeering at Palot intensified after the verdict cleared Sato and Beautifly of any wrongdoing. Humiliated, Palot's face turned crimson, and he stumbled away in shame after his remaining Skarmory and Magmar were also defeated by Beautifly alone.
Palot's once-promising reputation in the Battle Dome was shattered, his arrogance earning him a swift downfall.
In stark contrast, Sato's victory catapulted him into the spotlight. Shiny Beautifly's incredible performance and Palot's baseless accusations made Sato—Trainer 2569—a household name among Battle Dome participants.
The battles continued as challengers lined up to take on Sato. Over the course of 12 matches, Beautifly secured several wins using its overwhelming speed.
However, as its tactics became known, opponents began adapting.
One trainer countered Beautifly's speed with a Magneton that used Thunder Wave, effectively neutralizing it. Though Beautifly managed to defeat Magneton, it fell to the next Pokémon, a Pidgeot.
Sato then unleashed his other Pokémon, showcasing their abilities.
His Shiny Pelipper dominated under Drizzle, Growlithe employed agile fire-based guerrilla tactics, and his Golbat used Haze for precision strikes.
Meanwhile, Bellossom's Teeter Dance and rapid-fire Energy Ball barrage left spectators in awe.
However, it was Sato's Swampert that stole the show.
"Another single punch! Swampert has done it again! My goodness, Trainer 2569's Swampert is unstoppable!" the announcer cried out as Swampert sent yet another opponent crashing into the arena wall with a single blow.
"Swampert!"
"Swampert!"
"Swampert!"
The crowd roared in unison, chanting Swampert's name as it ended three consecutive battles with overwhelming strength, cementing Sato's place as a rising star in the Battle Dome.
