Pokémon: Trainer Paul

Chapter 110: Chapter 110: The Dragon Bloodline Revival Plan

Inside the Pokemon Center

"Buzz~"

Electabuzz narrowed its eyes slightly, scrutinizing the Gabite standing before it—a Pokémon that had grown even taller than itself.

So, you went out for a bit and came back evolved?

"Gaa~"

Big bro, let's spar.

Gabite prodded Electabuzz with its claw, grinning as its eyes gleamed with anticipation for a battle.

Hearing this, Electabuzz didn't respond immediately. Instead, it examined its once-adorable little brother with a peculiar gaze.

Somehow, it felt like this kid had just grown up and was already thinking about challenging its authority.

Could it be that after just one evolution, Gabite was already plotting a coup? A little baby shark trying to overthrow the king—how laughable!

Did it really think evolving once meant it could rule the skies?

Time to teach it a lesson: No matter how much you grow, I'll always be your big bro.

"Buzz~"

With that thought in mind, Electabuzz's face showed a gentle smile.

"Gaaa!"

Gabite, thrilled to have its challenge accepted, wasted no time launching a Dragon Claw straight at Electabuzz. The attack was powerful—completely unrestrained.

But Electabuzz, having sparred dozens of times with Dewott before, wasn't fazed. It easily read Gabite's movements, dodged the attack, and retaliated with an Ice Punch—a brotherly show of love.

Under the scorching sun, the sudden chill sent shivers down Gabite's spine.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Paul and Reggie were huddled together, going through research materials.

"You're saying that ever since Gible learned Outrage, its state has been off? It's been more irritable, restless, and even violent at times?"

Reggie asked while browsing information about Outrage.

"That's right. But after evolving, it calmed down—almost as if the power of Outrage had been completely absorbed into its evolution."

Paul nodded, still scanning his phone for detailed information on Dragon Dance.

"I think part of the reason is that Gible learned Dragon Dance before Outrage."

"I found some useful information, take a look." Reggie said, handing Paul the documents.

The research was straightforward: almost all Pokémon that use Outrage experience an uncontrollable state. However, powerful Pokémon can learn to control this fury.

This rage originates from their bloodline, and Outrage is merely a means of unlocking the latent power within.

Some Pokémon, after learning Outrage, remain in a constant state of frenzy—typically due to atavistic traits or difficulty controlling their newly awakened bloodline power.

In Gabite's case, it didn't go uncontrollable after evolving because it had already mastered its bloodline's power before evolution.

Furthermore, its exposure to this constant battle lust had triggered another transformation—it instinctively learned Dragon Rush upon evolving!

"I found something too." Paul added. "Dragon Dance isn't just a move that enhances a Pokémon's abilities—it was originally a ritualistic dance performed by Dragon-type Pokémon."

Dragon Dance can awaken a Pokémon's inner strength to some extent, similar to Meditation, though fundamentally different in purpose.

"So, putting it all together, it's simple. Gible, after repeatedly using Dragon Dance, accidentally triggered a deeper power within itself. Then, through sheer chance, it grasped Outrage."

"With both forces overlapping, its bloodline power surged forth—but Gible couldn't control it, which is why it went mad."

"After evolution, its control improved, allowing it to fully harness that power." Reggie summarized, seamlessly connecting the dots.

"I had already suspected as much." Paul muttered. "What I want to know is whether we can make Gabite consciously awaken its bloodline power at will."

"Or better yet—can we replicate this process in its next evolution to unlock an even deeper level of power?"

"…That…"

Paul's two questions left Reggie momentarily stunned.

For humans, Pokémon and all living beings, immense strength slumbers within their bloodline.

But whether it can be awakened is another matter entirely.

Some believe that the process of growing stronger is simply the gradual unlocking of one's inherited potential.

But Paul was thinking ahead—he wanted to forcefully trigger Gabite's bloodline awakening to expedite its growth.

"…It might be possible." Reggie finally said after some thought.

"By using moves like Outrage and Dragon Dance, we could try stimulating that power. Even if we can't fully awaken it, combining the two should still help Gabite grow stronger at an accelerated rate."

Paul nodded. "I've got a plan."

In his mind, a special training regimen was beginning to take shape—The Dragon Bloodline Revival Plan.

Or perhaps more fittingly…

The Dragon Power Development Plan!

"I'm heading out." Paul said abruptly.

After quickly explaining his plan to Reggie, he couldn't wait to test his theory on Gabite.

Regardless of whether it worked for bloodline development, it would still make Gabite stronger.

"Just remember to come back for dinner." Reggie called out.

"Got it."

Once Paul had left, Reggie hesitated briefly before deciding to contact Professor Rowan to discuss their theory further and ensure its safety.

As for the risk of their training method being leaked?

Neither Paul nor Reggie were worried.

They firmly believed that strength breeds strength—it wasn't about having the best training method, but about who was being trained.

Besides, the Dragon Bloodline Revival Plan required exceptional talent—at the very least, mastery of Dragon Dance and Outrage was a prerequisite.

Back at the Pokemon Center

It didn't take Paul long to locate Gabite, but the scene before him was… unexpected.

His newly evolved Gabite had been turned into an ice sculpture.

Meanwhile, Electabuzz was lounging against the frozen Gabite, muttering something under its breath.

"Buzz~"

Just teaching my little bro some respect~

The weather's hot, thought I'd cool him down a bit.

With a flick of its hand, Electabuzz casually shattered the ice with Brick Break, freeing Gabite from its frozen prison.

"Buzz-Buzz~"

Electabuzz patted Gabite's head, eyes full of brotherly affection.

Another day, another lesson for the little bro. Feels good~

"Enough. Go train your Psychic, Swift, and Shock Wave somewhere else." Paul ordered, launching Electabuzz aside with a single strike.

Turning his attention to the ice-cold Gabite, Paul frowned. "Use fire to expel the cold."

"Ga…"

Still dazed from the ice, Gabite snapped back to its senses. A faint red glow enveloped its body as it channeled its Fire-type energy to dispel the chill.

"For the next few days, your task is to learn and master every Dragon-type move you can learn."

This was a stark departure from Paul's usual training philosophy.

Typically, he only allowed his Pokémon to learn moves that had strategic value.

You could learn many moves, but they had to be useful.

For example, if you had Flamethrower, what was the point of learning Ember? If you knew Thunder, why waste time on Thunderbolt or Discharge?

But this time, Paul was making an exception—Gabite needed to learn every Dragon-type move, no matter how weak.

Even if it had already mastered Draco Meteor and Dragon Pulse, it still had to learn Dragon Rage.

"Gaa?"

Gabite found this unusual but didn't question it.

If he said to learn them, then so be it.

It had already learned most of the Dragon-type moves available to it, so picking up the last few shouldn't be too difficult.

More than anything, it felt like this would be a test of memory rather than skill.

"Also, keep improving your control over Dragon Dance and Outrage. This will help in your next breakthrough."

"Gaa~"

"Go find other Pokémon here and learn from them."

And with that, Gabite set off—ready to uncover the full extent of its dragon bloodline.
