Chapter 125: Chapter 125 - Salamence

Chapter 125 - Salamence

"....."

Watching Salamence rush past him without hesitation, Asahi froze mid-hug, hands still outstretched, expression darkening.

What kind of creature did I raise…?

Does it even acknowledge me as its Trainer anymore?

Green stifled a laugh behind her hand, but when Asahi glanced at her, she quickly regained her composure, pretending nothing had happened.

"Sigh…"

Seeing Salamence vacuum up the food at the table, Asahi let out a long sigh.

Forget it. The poor thing must have been starving.

Still…

It's eating way too fast!

Watching Salamence clear the entire table in just five minutes before turning its hopeful gaze toward him, Asahi sighed internally.

But since he had promised to let it eat to its heart's content after evolving, he wasn't about to go back on his word.

He instructed the butler Gallade to prepare more curry while handing Salamence a box of energy cubes.

"Here, eat these first to tide you over."

He also took out several packs of standard Pokémon food.

Salamence wasn't picky—whatever was given, it devoured.

It seemed determined to make up for all the meals it had missed before evolving.

It wasn't until it had eaten two full boxes of energy cubes and ten large packs of Pokémon food that Salamence finally burped and nuzzled Asahi affectionately.

"…Any normal family would go bankrupt trying to feed you."

Looking at the pile of empty packaging, Asahi sighed.

The energy cubes he made for Salamence were high-quality—one cube was equivalent to a full meal for an ordinary Pokémon.

And yet two entire boxes were just one meal for Salamence.

Thankfully, as the head of the Kanto Division, Asahi had full control over the budget. Plus, he still had dividends from Devon Corp. Otherwise, even he might struggle to keep this glutton fed.

Hearing this, Salamence looked a little guilty—but only a little.

As long as it was well-fed, pride didn't matter.

Asahi patted Salamence's massive head.

Now that it had fully evolved, he took a moment to observe it.

Salamence's size was impressive—when lying down, its height exceeded two meters, and its wingspan stretched nearly ten meters. Its enormous frame took up nearly a quarter of the dining area.

Good thing he had considered raising large Pokémon when designing the estate. Otherwise, the dining hall would be way too cramped.

When the butler Gallade returned with another fresh batch of curry, the "full" Salamence still managed to eat two more bowls before finally lying down on the carpet, looking completely satisfied.

"Eating and sleeping… are you sure you're not secretly a Snorlax?"

Asahi muttered to himself.

Then, realizing the sheer amount of food his Salamence would consume in the future, he felt a new concern creeping in.

I need to find another source of income…

Speaking of income, Asahi suddenly thought of President Silph.

He recalled the intelligence he had received from Sabrina earlier.

Pulling out his communicator, he sent Lance a message.

[After the treatment, did the League investigators regain their memories?]

Lance's response came quickly.

[No. According to the Joys at headquarters, recovering lost memories is nearly impossible.]

The brain was incredibly complex. Treating physical injuries was easy, but restoring lost memories was another story.

Asahi had expected this answer.

But he hadn't contacted Lance just to ask about the investigators.

[Got it. Thanks, Lance.]

Placing the communicator aside, Asahi decided it was time to have a chat with President Silph.

About why League investigators had mysteriously lost their memories inside Silph Co.

At Silph Co.

On the surface, the Team Rocket incident didn't seem to have affected the company much.

Employees continued working, as they still needed to make a living.

As for the executives, regardless of their true feelings, they had to maintain a calm facade to keep Silph Co.'s stock prices stable.

Asahi, the "hero" who had saved Silph Co., was well-known among the staff.

After all, he was the reason they still had jobs.

So despite not having an appointment, once he gave his name at the front desk, he was quickly escorted to the chairman's office.

Compared to last time, the office now had significantly more security measures.

Blast-proof doors, anti-psychic field generators—equipment rare even in the League was now installed throughout the office.

Seeing all this, Asahi wasn't sure whether to call President Silph paranoid or just cautious.

"Special Agent Asahi, welcome!"

When Asahi arrived, President Silph greeted him with a broad smile, as if they were longtime friends.

Gone was the tense reaction from before when he had learned about Asahi's partnership with Devon Corp.

But Asahi felt that this was the true face of President Silph's professionalism.

His previous panic was clearly due to being rattled by Team Rocket.

"President Silph, I came today to ask for your advice on something," Asahi said with a smile.

Seeing Asahi's friendly expression, President Silph instinctively felt uneasy, but since Asahi was with the League, he couldn't just throw him out.

"Special Agent Asahi, please go ahead."

"Well, after thorough investigation, the League has determined that the memory loss suffered by the investigation team wasn't actually caused by Team Rocket. I was wondering if you, President Silph, might have any insights on the matter?" Asahi said. "That's why I'm here—to seek your guidance."

He disguised the intel from Sabrina as the League's own findings.

Hearing this, President Silph kept his face calm, but his heart sank.

Damn it. Why is he asking about this…?

Though alarm bells were ringing in his mind, he maintained his composure.

"Guidance…? I'm afraid I don't have much to offer. I've already provided all related information to the League and have no further leads."

He attempted to brush the matter aside.

But Asahi wasn't letting it go. "Is that so?"

His smile remained unchanged.

At this moment, President Silph realized Asahi wasn't just fishing for information—he must have some concrete evidence. Otherwise, he wouldn't be so confident.

"What do you want?"
