Pokemon:I'm redThe strongest champion

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Challenge, and More Challenge!

On Route 16 in the Viridian Forest, a few kilometers away from Viridian City, an intense Pokémon battle was unfolding between two trainers.

"Beedrill, use Poison Sting to knock down Pidgey!"

"Pidgey, counter with Gust! Then get close and finish it with Wing Attack!"

"Hissss~!"

"Bo Bo~!"

Beedrill and Pidgey executed their moves simultaneously. Beedrill fired its Poison Sting, but before the attack could even reach Pidgey, a strong gust of wind from Pidgey's attack sent Beedrill spiraling.

Seizing the opportunity, Pidgey quickly flapped its wings and dove toward the disoriented Beedrill, striking it down with a powerful Wing Attack.

"Hiss of beer~!"

Beedrill let out a weak cry before tumbling through the air and crashing to the ground, unconscious.

Ding! Congratulations, host, for defeating Beedrill. You have earned 100 points!

Pidgey landed gracefully on a tree trunk and calmly preened its feathers, as if the battle had been nothing more than a mild exercise.

"Damn it! I was so close!" the Bug Catcher boy groaned, clearly frustrated. He reluctantly recalled his fainted Beedrill and handed 500 Pokédollars to Robert.

Robert accepted the money with a casual smile. "No worries. You're welcome to challenge me again when you're stronger."

The Bug Catcher boy scowled but didn't argue. Robert knew that facing a Flying-type opponent with a Bug-type Pokémon was a losing battle from the start. After all, Flying-type moves were super effective against Bug-types.

Additionally, even though Beedrill was fully evolved, Pidgey had a much higher individual value, making victory inevitable.

With that, Robert left his opponent behind and continued his journey deeper into Viridian Forest with his Pokémon, searching for new battles and opportunities to train.

---

As Robert traveled through the dense forest, he encountered several young Bug Catchers eager to battle. He defeated them all with ease, earning nearly 10,000 Pokédollars in winnings and helping Pidgey gain valuable battle experience.

According to Robert's calculations, Pidgey was close to evolving. If the trainers he had faced had been slightly stronger, Pidgey might have evolved already.

Still, Robert pressed on, taking Pidgey and Charmeleon on an exploration spree through Viridian Forest. Whenever they spotted a wild Pokémon, they challenged it immediately.

Most of the Pokémon they encountered were common ones—Caterpie, Weedle, and Rattata. Although Robert did find a few rarer Pokémon, their stats were below his standards, so he didn't bother catching them.

Instead, he let Charmeleon battle them, turning every encounter into an opportunity for experience and system points.

"Charmeleon, stop playing around and finish off Rattata with Flamethrower," Robert commanded with a yawn.

He had hoped for better luck in finding strong Pokémon, but after spending half the day in the forest, he had yet to find any with an individual value of at least 31.

Charmeleon, initially excited about the battles, had begun losing interest. Every wild Pokémon they encountered fell within two moves, making the fights boring for him.

Roar!

Still, at Robert's command, Charmeleon unleashed a powerful Flamethrower, engulfing Rattata in flames and knocking it out instantly.

Ding! Congratulations, host, for defeating Rattata. You have earned 30 points!

"Ah!" (No excitement...)

Robert chuckled. "Alright, it's getting late. Let's find a spot to eat lunch. Afterward, we'll rest and continue training."

"Ahh!" (Lunch!!)

"Bo Bo~!" (Yes! More delicious food!)

At the mention of food, both Charmeleon and Pidgey perked up with excitement, their previous boredom forgotten. Watching them, Robert shook his head with a smile.

He then signaled to Pidgey, who took off to scout for a suitable picnic spot. With a new goal in mind, Robert and his Pokémon followed eagerly, ready to recharge before resuming their journey.
