Chapter 171 - 164: Only Not Obsessive About Cleanliness Towards You
Chapter 171: Chapter 164: Only Not Obsessive About Cleanliness Towards You
Qiao Jing stared wide-eyed at Zhan Qipei.
“I have an injury on my rib and my leg, and I haven’t bathed for several days. Even though it’s winter, not bathing for so many days makes me feel very uncomfortable. Especially my back, I can manage to wipe the front myself, but I can’t reach the back,” Zhan Qipei explained.
Qiao Jing frowned, “You could ask Tang Yan to help you.”
“I’m not comfortable with other people touching me, I’m a germaphobe.”
“You’re a germaphobe? And yet you’re asking me to scrub your back?” Qiao Jing said incredulously.
“I don’t have a problem with you,” Zhan Qipei asserted.
He almost blurted out the words “I like it when you touch me.”
If he had said that out loud, Qiao Jing definitely wouldn’t have agreed to scrub his back.
“Are you sure you’re not just trying to take advantage of me by saying that?” Qiao Jing skeptically sized up Zhan Qipei.
“Your words are not fair. I’m the one undressed, and I’m the one being touched, so if you think about it, by scrubbing my back, you’re the one taking advantage,” Zhan Qipei said, looking at Qiao Jing in a great mood.
Qiao Jing was speechless.
“If you still don’t trust me, you can send a message to Lu Zijiao and ask him. He has no reason to lie to you, or you could ask Zhan Nanqing,” Zhan Qipei continued.
Zhan Nanqing was not an option, as she was a gossip; if Qiao Jing asked her about this, Zhan Nanqing would surely probe until everything was out in the open.
After thinking it over, Qiao Jing decided to send a message to Lu Zijiao.
She wasn’t very close with Lu Zijiao. She had his WeChat only because, not long ago, Lu Zijiao had actively and enthusiastically come over to add her.
Out of consideration for Lu Zijin, she had agreed.
“Does Zhan Qipei have a germaphobia?”
The Lu family was gathered together for a meal.
“Ding—”
Upon receiving the message, Lu Zijiao immediately opened it to look.
“Huh? Oh my gosh!” Lu Zijiao exclaimed suddenly.
Lu Zijin and his parents stopped eating and looked at Lu Zijiao with puzzled expressions.
“What happened?” Lu Zijin turned to ask.
“Qiao Jing! It’s Qiao Jing, she sent me a message!” Lu Zijiao stood up and handed his phone to Lu Zijin.
Lu Zijin eagerly took the phone to see the message but saw Zhan Qipei’s name and his expression turned sour.
“Qiao Jing? Why does that name sound so familiar?” Mother Lu asked.
Father Lu suddenly remembered, “Isn’t she the 100-day country daughter-in-law from the Zhan Family?”
“That’s her!” Lu Zijiao replied.
Seeing how excited Lu Zijiao was, Father Lu and Mother Lu exchanged glances and asked, “What? Do you like her?”
“Cough cough cough—” Lu Zijiao choked on his own saliva, pointing to Lu Zijin, “My brother, it’s my brother, not me.”
Father Lu and Mother Lu, shocked, turned to look at Lu Zijin simultaneously.
It would only be a slight surprise if Lu Zijiao liked Qiao Jing. Qiao Jing was beautiful, and it made sense if Lu Zijiao was enchanted by her beauty.
After all, ever since Lu Zijiao started junior high, he often brought pretty classmates home.
But their eldest son, Lu Zijin, was different.
Lu Zijin had been academically excellent since he was a child, consistently the top student in school, and even in his thirties, he hadn’t had a girlfriend, instead focusing on his medical research.
They once thought that the responsibility of continuing the family line would fall on their second son.
Little did they know their bookish son had also been struck by the dart of love.
What was even more unexpected to them was that Lu Zijin had fallen for a country girl who was the Zhan family’s daughter-in-law.
No, counting the days, it should be over 100 days now. That country girl named Qiao Jing was no longer with the Zhan family.
Considering this, Mother Lu said to Lu Zijin, “If you truly like her, then bring her home. We don’t care about her background. As long as she is someone you like, that is enough.”
“It’s not that easy, though,” Lu Zijiao shrugged his shoulders.
“What do you mean by that?” Mother Lu and Father Lu were puzzled. “Could it be Qiao Jing doesn’t like your brother?”
“I guess she doesn’t have that kind of feeling for him yet,” Lu Zijiao said, noticing that Lu Zijin slightly furrowed his brow.
“Then this girl really is quite something, not throwing herself at us just because we are a wealthy family. It shows she’s not a gold digger.”
Mother and Father Lu’s impression of Qiao Jing improved greatly.
“Zijin, girls like this are rare nowadays. You must work hard and marry her as soon as you can,” Mother Lu was already impatient to hold her grandchildren.
“Mom, it’s not something that can be accomplished just by my brother’s efforts. Qiao Jing and Young Master Zhan haven’t divorced yet,” Lu Zijiao said.
“What? That’s not right. It’s been 100 days,” Mother Lu calculated the days, “It definitely has been more than 100 days.”
Putting down his chopsticks and sitting up straight, Lu Zijiao said, “Yes! Indeed, it has been over 100 days, but Young Master Zhan won’t let Qiao Jing go, shamelessly clinging to her and preventing her from divorcing him.”
This revelation astonished Mother Lu and Father Lu.
“How can this be?”
“Well, the thing is, a while back, Young Master Zhan was chased by an assassin…” Lu Zijiao recounted the whole story from beginning to end.
“And that’s it. Young Master Zhan inexplicably fell for Qiao Jing without knowing that she had saved his life, so he had me look for her. Now that he knows, would he willingly let her go? Just a few days ago during the Lichuan earthquake, they were buried together under the rubble, and Young Master Zhan nearly lost his life trying to save Qiao Jing.
You didn’t see how Young Master Zhan spoils Qiao Jing now. I’m not exaggerating one bit; he treasures her as if she would melt in his mouth and fears she would fall through his fingers. With Young Master Zhan persisting like that, even a block of ice would melt. So I reckon it won’t be long until he thaws out Qiao Jing’s icy exterior.”
The more Lu Zijiao spoke, the more shocked Mother Lu and Father Lu became.
Because according to Lu Zijiao’s description, Zhan Qipei spoiled her to such an extent, yet Qiao Jing still hadn’t been moved.
This girl was proving to be quite a challenge!
“Look at my brother, like a block of wood, not even confessing his feelings to her. Competing with Young Master Zhan for Qiao Jing is going to be tough!” Lu Zijiao shook his head as he spoke.
Lu Zijin grimaced, handing the phone back to Lu Zijiao.
“It’s not that I lack courage; it’s just that I know I’m not worthy of her. I am making an effort,” he said.
“I don’t agree with you at all. You’re my brother, the eldest son of the Lu family, and the director of the hospital. Your medical achievements far exceed those of your peers. What’s there to not be worthy of?”
“That’s because you don’t know anything!” Lu Zijin was getting anxious. Qiao Jing had many pursuers in the past, but now things were different—his rival was Zhan Qipei!
Listening to the heightened tension in Lu Zijin’s voice, combined with his previous words, Lu Zijiao couldn’t help asking, “When I asked you before, you didn’t answer me. You couldn’t cure Old Master Zhan’s illness, and neither could all those famous doctors and professors. So why could Qiao Jing cure him?”
