Chapter 106: The Enchantress Connection
Kent didn't immediately ask anything. His mind cycled through a whirlwind of pondering as if trying to grasp something just out of reach, yet he lacked any understanding of the origin story.
But that didn't mean he had nothing to say.
"You said this item is one of the Seven Primordial Chaos Treasures. Do you know the names of the others?" Kent asked.
Perhaps knowing them would bring him some clarity. While he didn't know much, his subconscious was working to uncover something.
"I only know of one other," Vexthra replied. "Aside from the compass, only one other item has been discovered. As for the rest, their names were once known but have faded from memory over time.
"Of course, you might wonder how I know the danger ranking level of the compass if I don't know the names of the other five.
"The answer is simple: I am a goddess.
"The other of the Seven Primordial Chaos Treasures is the Hidden Celestial Library Key. It was discovered many ages ago, but it is currently inaccessible to anyone except an Enchantress who is forever bound to her temple," Vexthra explained.
"I see. So she is connected, huh?" Kent muttered, shaking his head.
It all started to make sense. The Enchantress was the one in possession of one of the Seven Primordial Chaos Treasures. But that was a different one.
If she once possessed one of the items, did that mean she knew the location of the others? After all, she had given Kent the compass—who's to say she couldn't do the same for the other treasures?
Suddenly, a desire sparked within Kent—a wish to find the remaining Seven Primordial Chaos Treasures. But he knew wishes didn't work like that. Greed would only make him lose his remaining wishes.
Still, that was just speculation. Kent had another thought, one that intrigued him even more. Now that he possessed the compass, could he sense the other items, as he assumed the Enchantress might have?
"Kent, tell me the Enchantress has nothing to do with this compass. Please, tell me," Vexthra, who had overheard his muttering, asked with a frown.
Kent just gave her a guilty smile. The enchantress was indeed connected to the compass. After all, it was through her that he managed to acquire it.
"Unbelievable," Vexthra didn't know what to say.
"Just how did you come into contact with her? You are in a realm far from her, so how did you manage to get her attention?" Vexthra asked.
She had sent Kent to a medium world so he wouldn't be in danger. Yet, in just a few months, he had not only acquired one of the Seven Primordial Chaos Treasures but also gained the attention of the last Ancient Enchantress.
"You know. I'm awesome to the point that a whole enchantress found me cute and gave me three wishes. One thing led to another, and here I am," Kent said with a small smile.
Vexthra just shook her head and then froze.
"Please tell me you didn't inherit the Enchantress's Favor, her quest," she asked again.
"Is that bad? I indeed inherited it, but it came with great rewards." Kent wasn't particularly concerned about Vexthra's panic. She used to hate and resent, so maybe she was now learning other emotions.
"What other rewards?" Vexthra asked.
"Well, she gave me access to the Quest Pool. Now I can obtain any quest I want, depending on the realm I am in, my strength, professions, and awesomeness."
"Oh my god!" Vexthra shouted, not having the strength to comprehend what was happening.
"You are a goddess, why are you shouting 'oh my god'? Don't tell me you're cheating on me with another god," Kent playfully narrowed his eyes.
He could tell the goddess was going through a lot, so he gave her some time to breathe.
"First, she gave you the Starbound Compass using the only loophole, which is Wishes, and then she also gave you access to the quest pool. Do you know what this means, Kent?" Vexthra asked.
"I will tell you. This means that from now on, you will become the sole owner of the quest pool. In fact, throughout the history of the universe, only 13 others had access to this quest pool, and only one person at a time.
You can now access all the rewards the universe can offer through quests. You also have access to all the amazing adventures the universe has in store for its children. This means you have become the one and only child of the universe.
This means you have, without even knowing it, become the sole defender of the Universe. Kent, your life has, in a way, become more amazing yet also dangerous within just a few months.
This is bad. Very bad." Vexthra wiped an invisible sweat off her forehead.
"At this rate, you will become the centre of danger now that you have the pool. The universe will want you to become the defender if anything goes wrong.
Though it will give you great rewards, it will also put you in danger every now and then."
"I don't mind danger. If I'm going to kill a god, the least I can do is handle the dangers along the journey.
And hey, don't worry about me. I won't be alone. Your sisters will be with me, and I also have the tower with me. My life won't be in any danger," Kent said with a small smile.
Vexthra sighed and made a mental note to hasten the training of the two ladies she now called sisters. While Kent might not know it yet, his life was indeed in grave danger.
But for now, Vexthra didn't want to say much, knowing it would only affect him more than do him any good.
'Please don't wipe these memories from me,' Vexthra thought, realizing her initial fear of not knowing about the Compass was now something she needed to remember to help Kent.
'Don't worry, you will remember, but you should be prepared to do anything when he is in danger,' the voice said to her.
'I will. I will do anything, including giving up my divinity if it means ensuring his safety,' Vexthra vowed in her heart.

'Very well. I will listen to you, my daughter,' the Voice spoke.
'Thank you, Mother,' Vexthra sighed.
"Is there anything else you want to tell me? I only know the Compass's origin, but not how to use it. I also know that the Enchantress's heart is the second of the Seven Primordial Chaos items.
I also know that the enchantress is very dangerous; however, she is also very trustworthy. For now, don't use your other two wishes lightly. You have to think about what you want and weigh the pros and cons before taking any action.
Also, ensure nobody besides you knows about the Compass and the Quest Pool. But know this: when you ask for a quest, you can reject it, but when the Universe gives a quest, no matter how unreasonable or dangerous, never reject it.
That's all I know. Now, before you leave, is there something I should know?" Vexthra didn't want to miss anything.
