Chapter 181: Dragons Rule The World
After retrieving the bed into his Spatial Ring, Lucian made his way to the gas stove.
Of course, Lucian's movements had not gone unnoticed by Mei, who had been quietly absorbing Mana.
Opening her eyes, she observed his actions and wondered, 'He's finally starting the cooking process. But how in the world can twenty minutes be enough time to poach 553 eggs and plate them? It's nothing short of insane.'
Her doubt was not unfounded. Anyone in their right mind would question the practicality of such a feat. Poaching eggs was delicate work, which required precise timing and attention.
And 553 of them? It seemed impossible.
But Mei did not know who she was dealing with. Lucian was no mere chef. He had tons of experience handling orders of such magnitude and a futuristic Artifact perfect for the task at hand.
[System, show me what you can do.]
[With pleasure, Host.] The System was excited to show off its new Skill.
With that said, the System in its Nine-Tailed Fox form leaped into the air. At the same time, the nine tails behind its body began swirling like a vortex. With each rotation, the tails wrapped around each other tighter.
Following a loud mechanical crack, the majestic Nine-Tailed Fox transformed into a massive pot.
As it hovered slightly above the stove, Mei's eyes were as wide as saucers. She had never witnessed such a scene before.
The pot's surface was white, smooth, and reflective, with life-like images of Dragons carved into the pot. At its base, there were strange Runic Symbols, but they were gray in color, as though they had no life.
[I hope the Host is satisfied. The Artifact is called Dragons Rule The World. It is a Novice-Grade Peak-Quality Artifact.]
Ignoring the System's words, Lucian focused on something else entirely, [How come you were able to use Transformation to turn into this pot? We have always been together… so, if you had the chance to see this pot, I should have seen it as well.]
According to the Transformation Skill's description, to utilize the Skill, the System was required to have an extensive knowledge of the desired form. In other words, it could only transform into objects it had either observed or had detailed data on.
[Host, please do remember I can see everything from your wife Lily's eyes.] The System said matter-of-factly before it continued in a sly tone, [This Dragons Rule The World pot was put up for Auction at the Dragon Phoenix Auction House. Seeing that it could be of immense value to the Host, I took it upon myself to study it thoroughly.]
Lucian raised an eyebrow. [You can see out of Lily's eyes? And you never thought to tell me about this before?]
[You never asked, Host.]
[...] The innocent tone with which the System spoke caused Lucian to feel once again the urge to kick the System, but unfortunately, he had to reign in his emotions… for now. He would get his revenge when there was no one around.
With that in mind, Lucian's expression shifted back to indifference as he gazed at the pot, which was now slowly lowering itself onto the gas stove.
Mei, on the other hand, was far from indifferent. Her eyes were even wider as she incredulously gazed at the three-foot tall and a-foot-wide pot.
'What kind of chef uses… that? Is it even usable? Wait… isn't that the Dragons Rule The World from today's auction!?'
As the Head Attendant of the Harmony City's Dragon Phoenix Auction House Branch, she had the authority to know all items put up for auction beforehand. So, she was quite familiar with this particular pot.
'How did it end up here? No… I clearly saw the Nine-Tailed Fox robot transform into it.'
As Mei had many thoughts and questions, she was soon given an answer to two of her questions.
Time was of the essence; therefore, Lucian wasted no time.
[Bring out the Siren's Melody Eggs.]
Following its Host's order, 553 beautiful Siren's Melody Eggs materialized in the air and hovered like pearls suspended above water.
Glistening water droplets still hung on the eggs and slowly dripped onto the tiles below.
*Drip*
*Drip*
*Drip*
With each drop of water that fell, a sweet and salty aroma emanated, assaulting Lucian's and Mei's senses. Explore stories at empire
Mei licked her lips hungrily, and a yearning expression appeared on her once-neutral face.
'Haah. So, this is what a Siren's Melody Egg smells like.'
However, Lucian remained indifferent. After a final glance at the Siren's Melody Eggs with his Mana Sense, he nodded, satisfied with the System's accuracy, but also, curious how 553 eggs would fit in the pot. The pot was not small by any means, but it was not overly big either. For an egg to perfectly poach, it required its own space.
Though Lucian was curious and slightly skeptical, after their short few days together, he had developed a modicum of trust toward the System… of course, only when it came to food.
*Click*
Following a click, the largest gas stove's knob turned, and the gas stove underneath the pot spewed red-hot flames.
[Host, please add Low-Grade Mana Water into the pot. Then, lower the eggs into it and leave the poaching in my care.] The System instructed. Despite the flames searing its bottom, it was still emotionless.
[Hmm, alright.] Lucian nodded and checked his Inventory.
Earlier, Lucian had received a few Notifications, alerting him to several ingredients being added to his Inventory.
However, due to the quantity of the Siren's Melody Poached Eggs he was cooking, the ingredients were stored differently this time.
'There it is.' After Lucian found what he was looking for in his Inventory, a blue light appeared on his open right palm and began swirling.
A few moments later, the intensity of the blue light decreased, alongside the speed at which it spun, and what was left on his palm was a transparent flask filled with milky white Low-Grade Mana Water.
