Prince of Wealth in a Cultivation World

Chapter 4: Shopping

"One year," Noir clarified his terms. "You only have to do this for one year. After that, either we'll move out or pay if we have nowhere else to go."

Noir could have given him more gold coins and asked for more than a year, but he decided against it. He didn't want to expose his wealth by showing more gold coins than necessary, especially since he wasn't sure if he could keep himself and others safe.

After pondering Noir's offer, the portly inn owner thought, "If it's only for a year, then I don't think there will be any problem, but…" His mind still lingered on the thought of more gold coins.

"Okay," he finally said. "If it's for a year, then we can do that. You three can live here for a year, with your meals included, but no more than that."

Noir got up from his seat. "It's decided, then. I'll make sure you won't regret your decision." He left the inn owner to his own thoughts and made his way to his room, where Big Huang and Xiao Meili were waiting for him.

"Now that accommodation and food for a year are settled, why don't we go buy new clothes?" he asked as soon as he entered the room.

"But won't it attract unwanted attention to us if we, as poor people, are carrying gold coins?" Big Huang was still wary of the situation. He didn't want anything bad to happen to them.

"Don't worry, big brother," Noir said. "As long as you show enough confidence while striking a deal with people, they'll think twice before judging you poorly." He waited for the two to join him.

Xiao Meili smiled as she walked toward him. "And where did you learn such confidence? Seems losing your memories has its own benefits."

"Stop joking," he said, lightly tapping her head. "Let's go buy you a new dress."

"Little brother, are you sure we aren't risking anything?" Big Huang asked again. As the eldest of the group, he felt the greatest responsibility for their safety.

"We can't stay the same our whole lives," Noir replied. "If we don't take risks, how will we change our lives?" He had confidence in himself.

Noir knew there was a risk, but this was a cultivation world, where the weak were no better than mere pests.

"Let's go then." With smiles on their faces, they left the inn for a clothing shop.

After leaving the inn, they went straight to the clothing shop, picking out better clothing for themselves while Noir looked at casual clothes with emotional eyes.

He remembered how he hadn't bought any new clothes for a couple of years while saving his money for starting a business. But before he could use it, he got caught up in an accident and ended up here.

"Brother, this one, it will look good on you," Xiao Meili said, showing him a blue robe she had selected.

After changing into his new clothes, Noir went to the counter where a middle-aged woman was sitting. Seeing them finish changing, she said, "It will be seventy bronze coins for each set of clothes."

Big Huang took out a gold coin. "We have this," he said, placing the coin on the table.

"A gold coin!" The middle-aged clothing shop owner was bewildered. With just a couple more coins like that, anyone could buy her small shop.

"Don't you have change?" she asked, not questioning the origin of the gold coin.

Big Huang gave her a sheepish smile as he pulled out twenty-something bronze coins. "This is all we have besides the gold one."

The woman was in a tight spot, as she didn't have enough change. Seeing this, Noir interjected, "Instead of change, why not let us buy a few more clothes when we come again?" He looked directly at the woman.

"Ah… well, okay, this is all I can do," she replied. "You can come back and buy a few more; this will be a good arrangement. Thanks, young man… ah, what's your name?" she asked Noir.

Instinctively, a word spurted from his mouth: "Noir."

But when he sensed glaring eyes on him, he cleared his throat, picked up his clothes, and left the shop.

"Brother, wait!"

"Little brother!"

Both Xiao Meili and Big Huang ran after him, leaving the woman in the clothing shop both confused and surprised.

"Shit," he thought, "will they find out I'm a fake? What kind of situation is this? I don't even know this body's name, and now I've blurted out my real name."

Noir was worried. He had unknowingly blurted out his real name when the shop owner asked him, and now he was concerned that Big Huang and Xiao Meili would realize he wasn't their brother.

"Brother, did you remember your name?" Xiao Meili asked with a worried gaze, noticing Noir's disturbed expression.

Big Huang put his hand on Noir's shoulder. "Little brother, what happened? Is that your name?"

"I don't know!" Noir replied. "It just came out of my mouth."

"Noir, right? Then we'll call you Noir from now on," Big Huang said. "The day we met, I asked you your name, but you couldn't remember. Since then, we haven't known what to call you except 'brother.' But it's good now; you have a name, little brother Noir."

Noir smiled, hearing their words. The pressure on his mind eased. "Yes, Noir is good," he agreed.

"Let's go back then," Big Huang said.

As they made their way back to the inn, some eyes were on them. "They're the ones?" someone asked.

"Yes, they are," another replied. "The beggars who have gold coins. Right now, they're living in Fatty's Inn, and they paid him in gold.

He added, "Just now, I was keeping an eye on them; they just gave another gold coin for clothes."

"Where did they get that much gold?" the first guy asked. "They must have more with them, right?"

"Yes," the second guy whispered. "Seems they found it or stole it from some noble. What do you think we should do? Should we report it to the authorities?"

"No," the first guy said. "Let's inform this to the boss. He'll know what to do with them." The second guy nodded, and they left Noir and group was oblivious of this plotting.
