Chapter 10: chapter 9

Chapter 9

Kai's POV

Kai lazily walked down the street, his hands shoved deep in his hoodie pockets as he made his way to school. The air was crisp, and the sun hung low, casting a warm glow over the streets. The usual hustle and bustle of the morning rush was happening, but Kai couldn't care less. He was never one to rush anywhere.

Daniel Park walked beside him, a bit more awake than Kai, who had barely gotten any sleep. After the events of the previous day, there wasn't much time for a decent rest. But that didn't bother him either; he wasn't the type to stress over things like that.

As they walked, Kai heard a few giggles and whispers from a couple of girls standing off to the side. He paid no attention at first, but then he noticed their gazes on him and Daniel, eyes following them closely.

Unknown Girl: "Wow, who are those two big guys? They look like new students. So handsome..."

Friend: "Yeah, you're right. I don't think I've seen them before."

Kai couldn't help but roll his eyes. Great, here we go again. He was used to the attention, but he couldn't care less. It was just some random people making assumptions. Who cares? They'd forget about it by the end of the day anyway.

He turned his focus back to Daniel, who was walking with his usual calm and collected demeanor. Kai was still curious about him. Something about him didn't add up—he seemed too cool, too quiet for someone who'd supposedly been in the spotlight for a while. But whatever, today wasn't the day for questions.

That is, until Kai finally decided to ask.

Kai: "Hey, Daniel, I know a guy named Daniel Park. He used to be... kinda chubby, but now he's really fit. Lost a lot of weight pretty quickly. Couldn't be you, right?"

Daniel glanced at him, slightly confused but not annoyed.

Daniel Park: "Uh... no, that's not me."

Kai studied him for a moment, then shook his head with a small grin.

Kai: "I knew it! You don't have the same vibe as the guy I'm thinking of. Still, I recognize your voice from somewhere. I won't ask any more questions, though."

Daniel let out a sigh of relief, a small smile forming on his face.

Daniel Park: "Yeah, it's not me. I appreciate it, though. I don't really like talking about that stuff."

Kai gave a quick nod, not pushing further. He wasn't the type to pry, especially when someone wasn't ready to talk. It was good enough that Daniel didn't make a big deal about it.

As the two of them continued walking, the girls from earlier were still staring at them, whispering among themselves. Kai could feel their eyes following them, but again, he didn't care. He was too tired to pay attention to anything else.

Daniel kept walking beside him, looking like he was lost in thought, but for once, Kai didn't feel the need to break the silence. They reached the school gate without much else happening.

Kai (thinking): Another day, same stuff. Let's just get through this.

The school bell rang in the distance, signaling the start of another day. Kai adjusted his bag and followed Daniel inside, unaware that today would be the start of something much bigger than he could have ever imagined.
