Quantum Magic Professor

Chapter 3: Chapter 2: I'm Your Teacher

The students of Class 3, Grade 1 at Finor Magic Academy were feeling quite frustrated today.

According to the academy's tradition, in the first few days after the first-year students enrolled, there would be a class taught personally by one of the two existing Archmages on the Farinos Continent and also the academy's dean, Hawk Fernas. This was both to satisfy the students' desire to meet their idol and to give them a solid foundation. Therefore, every student looked forward to this class with great anticipation.

However, this year's students seemed to be quite unlucky. Dean Hawk was said to be deeply immersed in researching a new magic spell and hadn't made it back in time for the opening of school. He hadn't even attended the opening ceremony, let alone fulfill this tradition.

But if that was all, the students of Class 3 wouldn't be so frustrated. To compensate, the academy had assigned teachers at the level of vice-dean to teach each class. These teachers were all Archmages—important figures who could have magical runes embroidered on their robes. It was a great honor just to meet one of them, let alone have them teach magic. So, most of the new students didn't feel too disappointed that the dean hadn't come to teach personally.

Class 3 was the exception.

"Hey, who is this guy?"

"No idea. He's so young. Can he really be our teacher?"

"With black hair? That's so strange. Have you ever seen anyone like that?"

"No, I read in a book once that the legendary demons were said to have black hair. Could it be...?"

"No way!"

.....

Lin Yuan looked at the noisy crowd below, trying hard to maintain the smile of a teacher on the surface, while inwardly cursing Hawk to high heaven.

Two days ago, he had arrived at Finor Academy with the letter from Hawk.

Things had gone surprisingly smoothly. As soon as the academy's gatekeeper saw the letter in his hand, he was taken directly to Vice-Dean Kapachi, who was currently in charge of the academy.

Vice-Dean Kapachi opened the letter right in front of him. After reading it, he didn't ask any questions. He simply arranged a place for Lin Yuan to stay and told him that he would be the main teacher responsible for Class 3, Grade 1. He didn't say much else.

"Just do as the dean says."

At first, Lin Yuan didn't think much of it. After all, he had been a class teacher in his previous world and had some experience in managing a class. But when he stood in front of Class 3 two days later, his confidence vanished instantly.

Although there were only 36 students in the classroom—much fewer than the nearly 70 students in a class in his previous world—Lin Yuan hadn't realized that his students were not just humans...

"Ahem... everyone, please quiet down," Lin Yuan gently knocked on the desk to silence the classroom. "Let me introduce myself first. My name is Lin Yuan, and I am your class teacher. You can call me Teacher Lin. We will be spending quite a lot of time together, so I hope we can get along well."

Lin Yuan thought his speech would help bridge the gap between them, but all he saw were puzzled faces below.

"Class teacher? What's that?"

Lin Yuan then remembered that this was not his original world.

"Ah... just know that I am your teacher. Now, it's your turn to introduce yourselves. You first," Lin Yuan pointed to a student sitting by the wall on his left.

"My name is Natasha Frey, from the Fasdi Kingdom. I am a Water Apprentice Mage."

The city of Winden, where Finor Academy was located, was the capital of the most powerful nation on the continent—the Kuse Empire. So, Natasha Frey was actually an international student.

"Red, from the Machino Empire, Fire Level 1 Mage."

Finor Magic Academy truly deserved its reputation as the best on the continent; there were quite a few international students...

"Charle Yufeng, from the Forest of Life. We elves do not have a country. I am a Light Level 1 Mage."

There were elves as well.

"Vince Fark Saint Kuro, I live in the West District of Winden City. Everyone is welcome to visit my home when you have time."

The West District of Winden City was where the nobility lived, and the fact that this student's name included the word "Saint" indicated that his family was an old and distinguished one. Of course, this was also evident from the extremely proud expression on his face.

"Lucky Campas, from..."

...

Listening to the students introduce themselves one by one, Lin Yuan gradually calmed down. This world was indeed very different from his original one. The students were not only from different countries but also from different races and social statuses. In a world where there was still a distinction between nobles and commoners, this was something to be especially mindful of.

Of course, Lin Yuan was confident that he could handle it. After all, he had been recommended by the old man Hawk. With such a powerful backer, what could he not manage?

"Zona, from Tarina City, Water Level 3 Mage, Fire Level 2 Mage."

Suddenly, one student's introduction brought complete silence to the classroom.

Lin Yuan was also taken aback. Although on the Farinos Continent, advanced mages generally studied an additional magic element besides their main one, it was usually one closely related to their primary element. Otherwise, it would be counterproductive, and in severe cases, it could even lead to magical backlash.

It was almost impossible, according to the magical theory that Hawk had introduced to Lin Yuan, to study both ice and fire, which were completely opposing elements.

Moreover, Zona was a Water Level 3 Mage, having broken through the barrier of Level 2 magic, which was defined as low-level. At her age, this alone was enough to call her a genius.

The reason Lin Yuan could study all magic elements below Level 2 was that his physical constitution and spiritual characteristics were completely different from those of the people on the Farinos Continent. In other words, since he was not from this world, he was not restricted.

While everyone was stunned by Zona, a male student standing behind her stood up.

"Fasno Saint Pierre, Wind Level 4 Mage. Hello, Teacher Lin, hello everyone."

Complete silence.

This time, Lin Yuan was more than just surprised.

What did Level 4 Mage mean? In the ranking system of the Mage Union, the mage class was divided into nine levels. Although Level 4 Mage was not the highest, it was almost unattainable for a student still in the academy. After all, the graduation exam of Finor Magic Academy was much simpler than the exam to become a Level 4 Mage.

Looking at Fasno's handsome face with a smile, Lin Yuan really wanted to ask him why he had come here to study in the first place.

After Zona and Fasno, there were no more surprising introductions. Like most students of their age, the others were at the level of magic apprentices or Level 1 Mages, which was suitable for further magical study.

"Everyone, please quiet down. I know that compared to me, a person of unknown origin, you all would rather see Dean Fernas standing here to teach you. But unfortunately, the dean is currently busy researching a new magic spell... Well, no more beating around the bush. In short, the dean can't come, and you have to accept this reality. You should know that my magical abilities are not bad either." Lin Yuan tried to keep smiling. After all, the first impression on students was very important.

"Teacher, may I ask what level of mage you are? Or are you an Archmage?"

Lin Yuan's heart sank. He had only been in this world for two months, learning about its common sense and magic from the old man Hawk. He hadn't had time to take any mage certification exams.

"If I say that I'm not even a magic apprentice, would you believe me?" Lin Yuan thought for a moment and laughed.

"Ha-ha... No way."

"Not even a magic apprentice? How could you be our teacher?"

"Exactly..."

Seeing the whole classroom in uproar, Lin Yuan chuckled, "Actually, I really don't have any rank. I just studied magic with Dean Fernas for two months."

The classroom fell silent instantly.

Studied with Dean Fernas for two months? And that's all?

It was already very difficult for ordinary people to meet Hawk Fernas, let alone receive his guidance on magic. This was one of the reasons why Finor Magic Academy had such a high reputation on the Farinos Continent.

And Lin Yuan had studied with him for two whole months!

Seeing the students' gazes becoming more and more enthusiastic, Lin Yuan knew he had finally passed this hurdle.
