Rakish Little Immortal Doctor

Chapter 803: No Clue at All

"Let's get down to business. No more nonsense," Liu Ruyan said irritably.

Li Qianfan immediately put away his smile and said seriously, "Director Luo, Liu Ruyan and I came to Dadong City to investigate a very mysterious cultivator organization. We now suspect that this organization may be connected to the missing persons cases in Dadong City. Bring us the case files for a look."

"Sure, no problem."

Luo Haiyang promptly left the office to fetch the files.

Before long, a thick stack of files was placed in front of Li Qianfan and Liu Ruyan.

Liu Ruyan and Li Qianfan immediately began combing through the documents carefully, looking for clues.

Luo Haiyang, standing nearby, explained, "Over the past six months, there have been 36 missing persons cases in Dadong City. The victims are male and female, young and old, and from various professions. There's no discernible pattern. Moreover, the scenes of disappearance left no trace whatsoever."

"So, unfortunately, despite our investigation, we haven't uncovered any leads, and the case hasn't made any progress."

Li Qianfan replied, "If these missing cases are indeed connected to the mysterious and evil organization we're investigating, then it's not your police department's fault. The methods of cultivators are not something ordinary people can contend with."

Hearing Li Qianfan's reassurance, Luo Haiyang visibly sighed in relief.

An hour slipped by before they knew it.

Liu Ruyan and Li Qianfan had finished reviewing the files on all the missing persons.

But they hadn't found any clues.

"Looks like we might've overestimated ourselves a bit," Li Qianfan said, scratching his head.

"Yeah, we might be cultivators, but we're certainly no Di Renjie, nor Sherlock Holmes," Liu Ruyan said with a wry smile, nodding.

Li Qianfan picked up another file and glanced at it again, suddenly remarking, "Wait, I think these missing persons share a common characteristic."

"What characteristic?" Liu Ruyan asked immediately.

"They're all alone. No parents, no partners, no children, living alone. Because of this, their disappearances haven't caused much of a stir in society. Without relatives, naturally, no one goes to the media to expose the cases or creates public outcry," Li Qianfan explained.

Liu Ruyan's expression turned thoughtful as she mulled over what was just said.

After a moment of silence, Liu Ruyan concluded, "It seems pretty clear now. Nine times out of ten, Tianhua Sect is behind this, abducting those who live in isolation."

"But what is Tianhua Sect doing with all these people? Where are they taking them?" Li Qianfan asked further.

"How would I know?" Liu Ruyan responded helplessly.

Li Qianfan sighed and said, "Forget it. Let's go back and think it over. Since there's no deadline for completing this task, we don't have to rush."

He set the file down, and together with Liu Ruyan, prepared to leave.

By the time they returned to the hotel, it was already almost noon.

Li Qianfan ordered room service, while Liu Ruyan called Lin Jingying over.

The night before, Liu Ruyan and Lin Jingying had stayed together, and their relationship seemed to have grown much closer—chatting and laughing like sisters who could talk about anything.

"Do you guys have plans for this afternoon? Why don't we go out and take a walk?" Lin Jingying suggested.

Before Liu Ruyan could respond, Li Qianfan spoke up, "Why don't you two go shopping? I've got some personal business to deal with."

"Personal business? What kind of personal business? You just got to Dadong City, and you already have things to handle?" Liu Ruyan said discontentedly.

"I really do have something," Li Qianfan said with a helpless smile.

Lin Jingying couldn't help but laugh, saying, "Lili, Xiang is your brother, not your husband—you don't have to keep such a close eye on him."

Liu Ruyan instantly stopped speaking.

After all, if she continued, it might give away her identity.

After lunch, Li Qianfan left the hotel, hailed a taxi, and headed to Li Xiaotong's home.

About half an hour later, Li Qianfan arrived at the neighborhood where Li Xiaotong's home was located.

The area was old and rundown—dirty, chaotic, littered with garbage bins, and piled with various refuse spilling out around them. A rotting, moldy smell hung in the air as you neared.

This living condition, despite Li Xiaotong working so hard to earn money, spoke volumes about what she had said last night. Every word was true: She and her mother were indeed drowning under an insurmountable pile of debt.

There wasn't even an elevator in the apartment building, so Li Qianfan had no choice but to climb the stairs.

At the door, he rang the bell.

"I'm coming, I'm coming…"

Li Xiaotong's crisp voice called out from inside. Shortly after, the green security door clicked as it opened.

Seeing that Li Qianfan had indeed arrived, Li Xiaotong was overjoyed.

"I thought you weren't coming, Brother Li," Li Xiaotong said.

"How could I not? We agreed on it, and I'm not one to go back on my word," Li Qianfan replied with a smile.

As soon as he entered the house, a middle-aged woman's voice came from the direction of the bedroom, "Xiaotong, who's here?"

"It's my mom. Let's go over," Li Xiaotong said to Li Qianfan.

She then grabbed Li Qianfan's hand and led him into the room.

As soon as he stepped into the room, Li Qianfan saw a frail, weary-looking woman lying in bed.

There was no doubt she was Li Xiaotong's mother, Cheng Shufen.

Even though Cheng Shufen was in poor health, with syphilitic marks all over her body, her facial features were still strikingly attractive, and her figure quite good.

If she could look this beautiful while sick, just imagine how radiant she must've been before falling ill!

No wonder she gave birth to such a lovely daughter—Li Xiaotong's mother was surely a beauty herself!

"Xiaotong, who is this?" Cheng Shufen asked, looking at Li Qianfan with curiosity.

Li Qianfan smiled and said, "Hello Aunt Cheng, I'm Xiaotong's friend, Li Xiang. Honestly, I'm skilled in medical treatment, and I came today specifically to help heal you."

"Really? But we don't…" Cheng Shufen hesitated, worry evident on her face.

"Don't worry, Aunt Cheng. I'm not charging anything," Li Qianfan replied.

Li Xiaotong chimed in happily, "Mom, don't worry about that! Brother Li is a genuinely kind person, and besides, he's far from lacking money."

Listening to her daughter's words, Cheng Shufen finally relaxed and nodded faintly.

Without further ado, Li Qianfan stepped forward.

"Aunt Cheng, let me examine you first," Li Qianfan said.

"Go ahead," Cheng Shufen replied.

Li Qianfan placed both hands into position—one on her chest and the other on her abdomen.

The next moment, pure True Qi flowed from his palms into Cheng Shufen's body, coursing through her entire system.
