Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 269: The Sisters

The moment Shyvana lunged at him, Rael took a step back as if on instinct.

She summoned a greatsword that mimicked the one Reinhardt used and swung it at Rael.

But as it neared him, Shyvana was suddenly hit in the side, and like a rocket, she collided straight into the cathedral's pillar.

"Tsk..." Zafira shot a disapproving look at Shyvana.

Her leg was raised in a kicking motion, but she soon lowered it and dusted herself off.

"Is Alene dead?" Zafira asked flatly.

He shook his head. "More like trapped. I can't really kill her. She's way too strong."

"Figures..." Zafira sighed and flashed a nod at Azarielle, who slowly made her way toward them.

She seemed pretty unhinged with all that was happening, but when she finally arrived, she performed a curt bow.

"Greetings, Your Majesty... Is my mother truly alive?"

Rael rolled his eyes. "I lie very rarely. In this case, I'm not lying. She's alive, and she's probably well. Though I won't be letting her out for quite some time."

Azarielle stared at him for a few moments and nodded.

It was the first time since meeting her that he'd seen a conflicted look on her face.

But it didn't last long, as she soon composed herself and stared him straight in the eyes.

"Do you mind if I join you?" she asked. "After the disappearance of my father, brother, and mother, I don't wish to bear the responsibilities of ruling this country."

"You don't have to worry about that." Rael turned to Zafira. "How's the paperwork coming along?"

Zafira shrugged. "The Aztera officials are ignoring my letters. They don't want to hand over control, clearly."

A faint frown appeared on Rael's face, but just as he was about to speak up, Azarielle did instead.

"The officials are quite fond of me, so I could put in a good word for you if you'd like."

"Hmm... sure, but let me ask you this..." Rael narrowed his eyes.

The moment he did, a weak yet fierce pressure enveloped Azarielle, causing a single bead of sweat to trickle down her forehead.

"Why help us after everything we've done?" he asked. "I killed your brother. I'm definitely going to kill your father. And last but not least, your mother? She's 100% going to have to go."

Azarielle's brows twitched. "I don't care about them... the only person I care about is Shyvana."

"That hot headed girl? I see..." Rael trailed off as he took one step, arriving behind Shyvana.

She was literally embedded headfirst in a pillar, so with a sigh, he grabbed her by the legs and pulled her out.

She seemed dazed, so he simply picked her up with one hand and carried her over to Azarielle and Zafira.

Zafira had a bit of a guilty expression as she scratched her cheek.

"I might've gone a little overboard..."

Rael raised a brow.

"You think?"

Azarielle let out a sigh. "Thanks for not killing her too."

"Mhm..." Rael nodded. "But why her?"

He had paid close attention to her earlier words, and he knew she wasn't lying when she said she didn't care about her family.

But why Shyvana was an exception was a total mystery to him.

"She's... like an actual sister to me," Azarielle replied plainly. "When my father and brother shunned me, Shyvana was the only one who was truly there for me."

She let out a soft giggle.

"We played house a lot when I was younger, and even when we grew older, she didn't change. She was always the loving sister. And as for Father and Reinhardt, they changed drastically."

Azarielle clenched her fists. "Father became paranoid and vengeful... and Reinhardt began to lose himself because of his obsession over the throne. That weird skill he got also didn't help him, since it only made his emotions duller."

Rael raised a brow. "Gluttony?"

"That one... yes," Azarielle replied. "As he died and absorbed more stats from the dead, the skill began acting like a parasite. I'm honestly glad that skill is gone now. Otherwise, the next person who got it would also become like Reinhardt."

Rael listened to her explanation calmly, but deep down, he was a bit worried.

The skill didn't seem like it was affecting him much, but at the same time, it was hard to tell what changed when he didn't know what to look for.

Still... I'll have to...

An idea suddenly popped into his mind.

Primordial Sight's new effects seemed pretty convenient.

You may inspect anything and anyone.

Since a skill fell into the anything category, he decided to check it out.

The skill seemed normal at first, but once he reached the end, his eyes narrowed.

Gluttony (Exalted) [Level 100 | MAX]

Hmm... I'll have to get rid of this somehow, Rael thought as he met Azarielle's eyes again.

"So, as long as your sister's safe, you'll cooperate with us? Did I get that right?"

She immediately nodded. "That's correct, Your Majesty. I will help you take control over Aztera only if you promise to not kill my sister."

"That's easy then," Rael replied with a slight smile. "However, I want you to know one thing. If, and I mean if... after waking up, she goes after me, Zafira, or Celestara, I will have her killed in an instant."

Azarielle's gaze sharpened. "...I will make sure to educate her until then, Your Majesty."

She then turned to Zafira and bowed again. "I will make sure to earn my keep, as will my sister."

"Hmm... alright, you can leave, I suppose," Zafira stated flatly. "Just don't get caught by anyone, understood?"

By anyone, she meant the Evangelists.

Because right after Rael's battle with Diederich, then Alcetas, the Evangelists went on the move.

They still haven't managed to get the barbarian relic, but at their current pace, Rael was sure they would get it soon.

But when they do, I'll just buy it from the premium shop, Rael snickered and exhaled a deep breath.

The fight against Alene was definitely tough, and he was sure that he wouldn't be able to win against the others.

After all, this win was only possible because he threatened Alene with her daughters.

And the others are all maidenless... Rael thought, a slight smirk forming on his face.

His goal was set.

He needed to reach Grade 1 by next week.

But until then...

"Wanna go sightseeing?"
