Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 263: 263 I'm back.

Because of this gesture, Jiang Xinyu came to know many people and received a lot of goodwill.

Everyone felt that this girl wasn't spoiled and had a big heart.

In the evening, after school, someone invited her to go out and play, "Sorry, my child is still too young; I need to go home and look after him."

Some of those who weren't familiar with her were quite surprised, as she seemed so young.

Opening the door and entering the yard, she saw Bai Hongying smiling at her.

"What's up, Aunt Bai?"

The other party just smiled and didn't speak.

Jiang Xinyu didn't take it to heart and went inside to check on her son.

But seeing the person on the bed, Jiang Xinyu felt her nose turn a bit sour.

He must be very tired, lying beside their son, breathing steadily, deeply asleep. Even Shi Jing, who would normally be awake at this hour, was sleeping soundly because he knew there was family beside him.

Carefully changing clothes, she quietly stepped out.

"Aunt Bai, when did he get home?"

"Home after two, fell asleep beside the child after a bath. He wanted me to wake him up to pick you up from school, but seeing him sleep so soundly, I couldn't bear to wake him."

"Hmm, what shall we have for dinner?"

"I bought a chicken this morning, let's make a chicken stew."

"Alright, I'll go see if there's any vegetables. Aunt Bai, in the future, don't leave while you're alone with the child; Shi Jing rolls over too swiftly, I'm afraid he'll fall off."

"I know, I'm being extra careful. When the weather warms up, I'll take him outside. You should get a stroller for Shi Jing when you have time."

Jiang Xinyu nodded and pushed the cart to the butcher shop; there wasn't much good stuff at this hour, just five or six pounds of lean beef left.

Jiang Xinyu bought it all without using meat coupons, then went to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy two pounds of mung bean sprouts.

With these two ingredients, she could make boiled beef slices; she couldn't eat spicy food, but Wei Kaiyun could.

When she got home, Bai Hongying was already stewing the chicken and was starting to simmer the rice.

Wei Kaiyun had a very restful sleep; it was a subconscious relaxation.

He was awakened by the enticing aroma, opened his eyes, and smiled at the sight of his son playing beside him. Leaning on his side with his arm supporting his head, he watched him play with interest.

The little guy heard the sound, turned his head, and looked at the person beside him, his pretty eyes bent into smiling crescents, which was too endearing.

Wei Kaiyun leaned in to kiss his son's cheek, thinking how he looked so nice.

He decided to do his utmost for the rest of his life, giving them the best without letting them feel even the slightest grievance.

He vowed that the hardships he faced in childhood would never be experienced by his wife and son.

Jiang Xinyu finished the preparations; it was getting late, and she decided to wake up the father and son.

Pushing open the curtain and entering the room, she saw the interaction between the father and son.

Wei Kaiyun heard the sound, lifted his head, and smiled at his wife, "Wife, I'm home."

The son on the bed, lying on his stomach, also lifted his head upon hearing the sound; two somewhat similar faces looked at her, making Jiang Xinyu feel a warm swell in her heart.

"Is everything sorted out?"

Wei Kaiyun sat up and grabbed her, finally able to kiss the lips he longed for day and night.

"Let go; the child is here."

Wei Kaiyun reluctantly let go of his wife. "Wife, I'm home; I can rightfully stand beside you and our son."

"Welcome home," Jiang Xinyu said as she kissed his cheek.

"Get up; it's time to eat." As she spoke, she picked up her son and kissed him. The little guy giggled and leaned toward his mom's face too.

Jiang Xinyu leaned forward to let her son smear her face with drool.

Wei Kaiyun watched from the side; the scene was too warm.

"I'll make the dishes; you hold him and help him with the bathroom needs."

Wei Kaiyun, already quite familiar with taking care of the child, nodded with a smile.

Once the dishes were on the table, the little guy was hungry too.

"You guys eat; I'll feed him."

Wei Kaiyun followed her inside; despite being hungry himself, he couldn't possibly eat first; he had to wait and eat with his wife, which truly felt like a family.

Watching the son's food-protective behavior, Wei Kaiyun playfully grabbed his hand, the son struggled fiercely.

"Let him go, or he'll start crying again."

"It's mine."

Making Jiang Xinyu blush bright red, "Wei Kaiyun, where's your face?"

"I'm speaking the truth; how could I lose face?"

"Did everything go smoothly?"

"Yes, I called the leader, was given a year, but still need to return to my original position."

"Hmm. This freely given year-long holiday?"

"I said my wife is pregnant."

Jiang Xinyu looked at him in shock, "Who is above you?"

"I thought you'd never ask in your lifetime."

Jiang Xinyu glanced at him, "Just tell me quickly."

After hearing the name, Jiang Xinyu laughed, realizing that there was no need to change allegiance to a new master.

"What? Wife, do you know?"

"How could I not know? You just follow your leader without worry."

Wei Kaiyun laughed, realizing his wife had full confidence they would succeed here.

Because of pregnancy, there wasn't much milk; with no milk here, the little guy spat it out, and Jiang Xinyu switched to the other side to let him eat.

Aunt Bai quickly came in with a bottle. The little guy drank more than half a bottle of milk powder and finally felt full.

Jiang Xinyu skillfully helped her son with bathroom needs, then wrapped the edges of the bed with a quilt.

"All done, let's go eat; let him play by himself."

"Is that alright?"

"It's fine, though after a few months it won't be. Once he starts crawling, he won't be easily contained."

Jiang Xinyu quite enjoyed tonight's meal. Despite wanting to eat the boiled beef slices, she refrained.

"Xiao Jiang, Shi Jing can sleep with me?"

"No need, we can handle it."

"Yes, we can take care of it ourselves."

After dinner, Wei Kaiyun prepared the bathwater for his wife, then returned to the bed to play with their son.

Jiang Xinyu, drying her hair while seeing Wei Kaiyun holding Shi Jing, said, "He's clever; if you keep holding him now, you won't be able to stop in the future. It's better to let him play by himself."

Wei Kaiyun didn't know this, but since his wife said it, it must be correct. Still, it was hard to put down the soft little one in his arms.

He then put the child down, covered him with a blanket, and waited until little Jiang Shijing finished another bottle of milk powder before he fell asleep.

The two of them lay in bed; Wei Kaiyun attempted to undress Jiang Xinyu but got slapped, "What are you doing?"

"Wife, I won't do anything, just let me look."

The two cuddled up, bare-skinned. Perhaps he had a craving for skin contact — why did he insist on taking clothes off?

Wei Kaiyun's hand rested on his wife's lower abdomen, softly moving.

"Wife, in here is our second baby."

"Yes, but it's not good for Shi Jing. I thought I had little milk; turns out I was pregnant."
