Chapter 188: Fight Openly and Aboveboard (4th Update!)
Nature's spiritual energy converged from all directions, a portion streaming into Nezha's Dantian, while another gathered towards the shaft of the Fire-tipped Spear.
Nezha's face suddenly flushed red, clearly preparing a powerful move, but Sun Wukong was certain that, unless one possessed an innate divine ability similar to his Void-Breaking Divine Eye, no one else would be able to discern the reality of Nezha's technique.
The Fire-tipped Spear began to tremble slightly. Under the gaze of the Void-Breaking Heavy Pupil, Sun Wukong could see an energy vortex accumulating and compressing inside the shaft, but from the outside, there was nothing to be seen. Moreover, the energy accumulation process didn't hinder Nezha's movements. Although he couldn't wield the Fire-tipped Spear, his movements were not restricted.
He could still dodge and weave freely.
"Converge!"
A few moments later, the energy that had built up inside his body and the Fire-tipped Spear reached its peak. Nezha's gaze sharpened as two vortexes of strength flew out from his body and spear tip, converging to form the Golden Fire Annihilation Divine Spear!
"Alright, Nezha, stop there!"
Sun Wukong quickly spoke up to prevent Nezha from continuing to release the Golden Fire Annihilation Divine Spear. The move was too powerful and put a significant strain on Nezha's body. Having released the Golden Fire Annihilation Divine Spear repeatedly while trapped in the illusory realm had already pushed his body to its limits.
Now, it was merely a test to improve the spear's release, and there was no need to actually perform the attack.
Nezha dispersed the gathered energy with a grunt, his complexion turning from red to pale, looking somewhat weakened. Before, he was trapped in an illusory realm, unable to sense his own condition, and his potential was fully stimulated, amounting to an overdraft of his life. Therefore, he didn't feel anything was wrong. But now it was different.
Just by preparing to unleash the Golden Fire Annihilation Divine Spear, he was already feeling severe pain all over, almost as if he was on the brink of shattering. If he were to actually perform the technique, it was likely that his entire system of meridians would be torn apart, and Nezha would fall to the ground in collapse.
"Take this Elixir Pill and recover quickly. We can't stay here too long; we need to leave immediately!"
With a flip of his palm, a bottle of healing Immortal Pills appeared in Sun Wukong's hand and he handed it to Nezha. These were Elixir Pills that Sun Wukong had refined himself and seldom had reason to use. Now, they finally came in handy.
Without further ado, Nezha sat down on the spot, took the Immortal Pills, and began to Cultivate, restoring his strength.
After assuring himself that Nezha had begun his recovery and was out of danger, Sun Wukong turned his attention to his surroundings, his eyes flashing with golden light as he activated his Void-Breaking Heavy Pupils to assess the situation of this Tenth Layer World of the Twenty-Four Heavens. Your next chapter is on My Virtual Library Empire
Upon first entering this Tenth Layer World of the Twenty-Four Heavens, Sun Wukong had sensed Nezha's presence and hastened here without thoroughly inspecting this Layer. Now that he took a closer look, it clearly differed from the previous Nine Layers Worlds.
The Twenty-Four Heavens are divided into three tiers: the First Eight Layers as one, the Middle Eight as another, and the Last Eight as the third.
The initial eight Layers Worlds are basic, smaller worlds with the broadest scope, yet they are rarely used as cultivation grounds by the Buddhist Sect's disciples. Instead, it's primarily a place to imprison demons captured by the Buddhist Sect, grinding down their unyielding spirits until they submit and can be inducted into the Buddhist Sect.
Of course, those who remain unsubdued are left to die there, with their physical bodies and Divine Souls refined into free-flowing energy within the Worlds, creating various monsters and enemies like those Sun Wukong previously encountered.
The Middle Eight Layers Worlds are the cultivation grounds for the Buddhist Sect's disciples. The Heavenly Dragons, Golden Arhats, and others cultivate there, releasing all sorts of negative energies and retaining only the most refined and original Buddha Primordial Force. The Golden Dragon, one of the Heavenly Dragons Sun Wukong encountered in the Ninth Layer, is among them.
This Tenth Layer also has Golden Arhats from the Western Heavenly Buddhist Sect cultivating within, and the independent demons that assaulted Nezha were formed by the negative energies released from these Golden Arhats after mutual devouring and fusion.
As for the Last Eight Layers, those are the cultivation grounds for the Great Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Ordinary disciples of the Buddhist Sect do not have the qualifications to enter.
Although Ran Deng Buddha is the master of the Sea-Calming Pearl, since the Pearl has transformed into the Twenty-Four Heavens, he can only utilize the strength of these Worlds and cannot easily move the Worlds nor casually control the life and death of the disciples cultivating within them.
Even when he tried to suppress Sun Wukong, he was only able to pump back the energy from the Worlds he had summoned into the precise Layer where Sun Wukong was to enact his plan.
"There's a strong presence of Buddha Primordial Energy in that direction, likely a place where the Buddhist Kingdom's experts are in secluded cultivation. To leave this place, we'll probably need to learn more from them!"
Even though Sun Wukong's Void-Breaking Divine Eye could see through all illusions and pinpoint the most fragile parts of the world's barriers, in these Twenty-Four Heavens' Worlds, the weakest point in the spatial barriers led to the next Layer World. Sun Wukong had successfully rescued Nezha and no longer needed to traverse these Heavenly Layers.
He wasn't here to attack the Buddhist Sect but to rescue someone; there was no need to lock horns with the Buddhist experts here. It's critical to leave as soon as possible!
Truth be told, Sun Wukong had considered forcing Ran Deng Buddha to release Nezha after defeating him, but firstly, he wasn't entirely sure that he could defeat Ran Deng, an incredibly powerful being at the Half-Step Saint Realm. Secondly, Ran Deng was far too cunning, excelling at sneak attacks and evasion.
During the Divine Enthronement War, each of the Kunlun Twelve Golden Immortals suffered injuries, and the Sect Hierarch's disciples were nearly wiped out. Even the Leader of Tongtian, one of the Three Purities, had experienced setbacks, yet Ran Deng Buddha was never once wounded.
Whenever he saw the tide turning against him, he would immediately flee, either becoming a breeze or a rainbow and disappearing before impending danger. Sun Wukong didn't dare to bet that Ran Deng wouldn't escape when things went south. If Ran Deng managed to flee and Nezha was drawn into the Twenty-Four Heavens, the circumstances would be grim indeed!
Because of this, Sun Wukong could only take the risk of entering the world of the Twenty-Four Heavens to rescue Nezha. As for Flower-Fruit Mountain, it would temporarily have to rely on Leng Xuan and the others to hold their own.
From what could be seen so far, Ran Deng Buddha probably hadn't really done anything to Leng Xuan and his group. Otherwise, he wouldn't have merely drawn on a portion of the power of the Twenty-Four Heavens to suppress Sun Wukong, but would have harnessed the full force of all the Twenty-Four Heavens' worlds. However, who knew how long this situation could last?
Sun Wukong didn't dare take that chance!
"Wukong, I'm alright!"
Nezha didn't delay for long. After swallowing a Healing Immortal Pill, he activated his Cultivation Technique as quickly as possible to disperse the medicinal power of the pill, temporarily getting his injuries under control. Then he opened his eyes and stood up. This wasn't the time for him to recover slowly. Just like Sun Wukong had said, they needed to hurry and get out of there!
"Let's go, let's see if we can find out from those Arhat monks how to get out!"
With a shout to Nezha, Sun Wukong rose upon a cloud, flying towards the direction where he sensed the Buddha's Spiritual Energy to be most abundant. Nezha followed closely, stepping onto his Wind-Fire Wheels.
"Indeed, there are monks cultivating here!"
After a short while, Sun Wukong and Nezha arrived at their destination. This place was a barren region where three Golden Arhats were sitting cross-legged atop stone pillars extending from the ground up into the sky, deeply engaged in cultivation.
Around them swirled various demon spirits, casting all kinds of Illusion Techniques to tempt the monks, who seemed unaffected, as if they neither saw nor heard anything, paying no attention to them.
Under the scrutiny of his Void-Breaking Heavy Pupils, Sun Wukong could see very clearly. Fine strands of grey mist, invisible to the naked eye, were slowly seeping out from the center of the foreheads of the three Golden Arhats, interweaving with the demon spirits that surrounded them and merging into the bodies of those spirits.
"The Buddhist Cultivation Techniques are indeed distinctive!"
With a silent sigh in his heart, Sun Wukong had always found the Buddhist Sect distasteful, but the Buddhist Cultivation Techniques did have their unique aspects compared to the Taoist Sect. In terms of mental stability, these high-level Buddhist cultivators were far superior to their peers from other sects, difficult to be tainted by evil demons.
Despite his admiration, Sun Wukong hadn't forgotten the purpose of his visit. With a flick of his Ruyi Golden-Hooped Rod, he sent three shadowy rod figures smashing fiercely towards the three Golden Arhats.
"Who dares to sneak attack us?"
The force of the staff swept through the air, startling the three Golden Arhats who were meditating. They opened their eyes in shock and quickly grabbed their weapons to block the onslaught from the Ruyi Golden-Hooped Rod's shadows, their faces filled with surprised anger. This was, after all, the domain of the Buddhist Sect in the Twenty-Four Heavens' Worlds.
That someone had broken in here, and even launched a sneak attack on them, was utterly unthinkable!
"Sneak attack? Your grandpa Sun strikes openly and honorably; where's the sneak attack?"
With a sneer, Sun Wukong's actions didn't pause for a moment. The three Golden Arhats cultivated at the Da Luo Golden Immortal Realm; though it seemed their realm had been artificially elevated by the bolstering power of the Twenty-Four Heavens' World—a boost that would normally have only lifted them to the Taiyi Golden Immortal level.
To Sun Wukong, such opponents weren't too challenging, but he didn't take them lightly or hold back. He needed to defeat them quickly to force out the method of escape!
True Solar Fire swirled around the Ruyi Golden-Hooped Rod, with the Chaos Primordial Force surging. With just one sweep, it had encircled the three Golden Arhats, and a myriad of staff figures rained down like a violent storm, bombarding the bodies of the three monks from every direction. Overwhelmed, they could only parry, with no chance to counterattack.
Nezha, who had initially planned to lend a hand, saw the completely one-sided situation and simply shrugged his shoulders, loosening his grip on the Qiankun Ring.
For these three Golden Arhats, Sun Wukong alone was enough to easily take them down; there was no need for Nezha's help!
Boom, boom, boom!
The battle didn't last long. Soon enough, the three Golden Arhats were each fiercely struck by the Ruyi Golden-Hooped Rod on their shoulders, backs, and chests, crying out as they fell heavily to the ground.
