Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord

Situ Qinger felt a sudden jolt in her heart. She was a smart person and immediately realized that because she had misspoken earlier, Situtu Xueer had caught her slip. Instantly, she blinked her moist eyes pitifully and said, "Big sister, please don't be angry. I spoke out of deep affection and said the wrong thing. Big sister, please forgive me this once."

Celestial Master Zhang and his wife hurriedly stepped forward to mediate: "Yes, Madam Situ, you're all family, so let's not be petty. Sisterly disagreements, if spread around, won't sound good either."

Situtu Xueer let out a cold snort and said no more. On the surface, it seemed the matter was settled.

The argument among everyone seemed to have reached a temporary halt.

They returned to the matter of searching for the jade hairpin.

Inside the room were two stout old maids, both long-time servants of the household and somewhat authoritative among the servants. Celestial Master Zhang had them search the young ladies present.

As those present were all ladies, Celestial Master Zhang and the Fourth Prince found it inconvenient to stay and so they withdrew to wait outside.

The first to be searched was naturally Xuexue.

The old maid who searched Xuexue was the one who had taken money from Situ Qinger. She repeatedly searched Xuexue from head to toe several times but found nothing. She was quite puzzled, for the Second Miss had implicated that the jade hairpin was with Madam Situ, yet why was it not there!

She glanced at Situ Qinger and gently shook her head.

Situ Qinger, filled with excitement, was ready to witness the drama unfold.

However, after the maid searched several times and still did not find the jade hairpin, Situ Qinger's heart also began to race.

Impossible! She had clearly placed that jade hairpin into Situtu Xueer's arms, so how could it have vanished?

Situ Qinger was utterly baffled.

"Second Miss, it's your turn now." An old maid approached Situ Qinger and announced.

"Huh?"

It turned out that while she was in a daze, all the young ladies in the room had been searched, leaving her as the last one.

"All right!"

Situ Qinger opened her arms, allowing the maid to search her.

The maid's hands slowly searched downward, and suddenly, as she reached the front, her hands paused, and she slowly extracted an item.

Everybody focused their attention, and to their amazement, it was a jade hairpin, causing an uproar...

"Oh dear! After all this, who would've thought the Second Miss Situ was the thief! We nearly wrongly accused Madam Situ."

"Indeed! It's true that you can know a person's face but not their heart. Just now, she spoke with righteous fervor, yet who knew she was so vile inside, stealing the madam's jewelry and trying to pin it on her elder sister. Truly insidious, we almost all fell for her trick."

Fat Girl twisted her plump body, and arrogantly walked to the center of the crowd, then lifted her chin and said, "I was fooled once at the door earlier, but I won't be fooled by her again! Only fools like you would believe what this woman says."

Everyone glared at her angrily.

Her personal maid quickly tugged at her sleeve and quietly advised, "Miss, everyone is angry now, don't stir things up."

Having been mocked for being foolish at the door earlier, Fat Girl had pent-up frustration, which she finally vented, feeling very satisfied: "Yes, your ladyship won't stoop to their level, come, let's go for a walk outside."

Saying this, she happily left with her maid.

Situ Qinger could hardly believe her eyes. That jade hairpin, she had clearly placed it herself in Xuexue's arms, so why had it appeared in her own? The most terrifying part was, if someone had placed the hairpin on her, why had she felt nothing?
