Chapter 226: CH : 219 Elves, Dragons And Fishman
However, it's strange for Metallic Dragons and Chromatic Dragons to mix together—especially when more than two hundred Metallic Dragons and dozens of Chromatic Dragons are mixing together and getting along very well.
Although there are cases where Metallic Dragons and Chromatic Dragons become friends, in this situation, it cannot be that a group of dragons are all good friends, traveling together as a group this time, right?
How can this be?!
"I asked... Could it be that Bogarde really saw it wrong and was confused by an illusion?" an elf elder muttered.
However, his remarks were quickly refuted.
"Bogarde is not an inexperienced elf warrior; he is a fourteenth-level druid. The illusion that could unknowingly confuse him, with such a huge range of influence, is something that even ordinary legendary mages would struggle to achieve. No, maybe even an extraordinary legendary mage would find it difficult," Another elf elder said seriously, frowning.
Bogarde had tracked the traces of the giant dragons for thousands of miles. If this was truly an illusion, then what kind of illusion could cover such a vast range and affect so many creatures at once that they fled at sight of them?
"Could it be a dragon transformation technique, like something a druid would use?" an elf elder suggested, putting forth another theory.
In the druidic profession, there existed a highly advanced transformation spell known as Dragon Transformation. This spell, when mastered, allowed a druid to assume the form of any dragon, not only mimicking its physical appearance but also replicating its breath, its scales, presence, magic resistance, and even its formidable dragon body and dragon might.
Of course, while the spell permitted transformation into any true dragon, most druids chose to take on the forms of metallic dragons. The reason for this was simple—casting this spell required dragon scales and blood, and most druids, by nature, had kind-hearted dispositions. They weren't the type to actively hunt or provoke chromatic dragons or other true dragons simply for the sake of their own cultivation.
Instead, they typically traded with their metallic dragon allies, obtaining discarded dragon scales and small amounts of dragon blood through peaceful means.
Most metallic dragons were more than happy to provide such materials, seeing it as both an easy way to make money and a means of strengthening their friendships with the druids. Of course this does not reflect on dark counter parts of this profession.
"Although it's still a rather unbelievable possibility, this explanation is at least more plausible than the idea that metallic dragons and chromatic dragons would be traveling together," The elf elder who had spoken first muttered, his tone thoughtful yet unconvinced.
While the elf elders continued their noisy debate, the elder presiding over the discussion suddenly froze for a moment, as if something had caught his attention. However, he quickly recovered, clearing his throat loudly to regain order.
"Enough," he said, his authoritative voice cutting through the chatter. "Let's put this discussion aside for now. My old friend from the Silver Dragon clan has arrived in person. Follow me—we shall greet him first and continue this matter later."
---
Beyond the immense protective barrier of the Emerald Forest, a silver-haired girl, barely 1.6 meters tall, hovered in the air with her bare feet dangling idly. She looked bored, swaying slightly as she waited.
Before long, the barrier parted, and a group of elf elders emerged, led by the Great Elder himself. Only those of at least level 15 could become elders, and given their extensive lifespans and natural talents, many of them had dual or even triple professions. It was no surprise that they were all capable of flight, whether through magic or secret techniques.
The silver-haired girl heard the commotion, turned her head, and raised an eyebrow as she recognized one of them. A teasing smirk crossed her lips.
"Marla? Is that you?" she asked, then exaggeratedly widened her eyes. "Are you getting too old? Hey, you're not about to keel over and die of old age, are you?"
The Great Elder, who had been walking forward with a welcoming smile, suddenly stiffened.
...Wait. Did she just greet him by asking if he was about to die?!
How was he even supposed to respond to that?
"Haha, well," he finally said, forcing out a chuckle, "I am an old man, after all—1,200 years old. Who knows? Maybe tomorrow I'll close my eyes and find my soul ascending to the Kingdom of Nature of Great Father Corellon Larethian."
"One thousand two hundred years? Is that supposed to be impressive?" the silver-haired girl huffed, folding her arms. "You're two hundred years younger than me!"
No… was this 1,400-year-old Silver Dragon Girl seriously competing with him over age?
Also—why did she sound so proud about the fact that she was 1,400 years old and still hadn't reached Legend rank yet?!
The Great Elder's expression darkened. He suddenly felt too exhausted to continue this conversation.
"Eh, don't worry about it," the silver-haired girl went on with a dramatic sigh. "I've already lived through a tenth of my dragon lifespan. If things continue like this, I'll probably die of old age in another ten thousand years."
Then, as if realizing something, she casually added, "Though, actually, that's impossible. I am a genius Silver Dragon. At most, I'll need another fifty… maybe a hundred… hmm, no, give or take three hundred years, and I'll definitely reach Legend rank. Then my lifespan will extend again—another ten, maybe fifteen thousand years hahahahhha."
She smiled brightly and continued, "So, if you die of old age before then, I'll make sure to stop by from time to time and check on your corpse!"
The Great Elder's eye twitched. He was this close to losing his patience.
"Ahem, Sandy, my friend," He coughed, hastily changing the subject, "You must have come here for an important reason, right?"
To be perfectly honest, he still had no idea how he had ever become friends with this utterly shameless Silver Dragon.
Fourteen hundred years old and still not Legend? That was one thing.
But to call herself a genius while acting so childishly… that was something else entirely.
---
Sandy shot the Great Elder a glare, displeased by the interruption. But then, as if suddenly remembering something, she nodded.
"Oh, right! Didn't you ask me earlier if a large number of metallic dragons had left Dragon Island? That's why I came here."
"Wait, then… is it true?" The Great Elder's expression grew serious as he leaned forward slightly. The other elf elders, who had been silently listening, also perked up, their ears twitching in anticipation.
Could it be that the Black Dragon Lord of Black Wing Lair had secretly formed an alliance with Dragon Island?
If that were the case, it would be fantastic news!
But what Sandy said next caught them off guard.
She shook her head. "No, the metallic dragons on Dragon Island have barely left in recent years—especially the younger ones. A large group of baby dragons, not even fully grown yet? That would never happen. If it did, those old guys would throw a fit and hunt them down across the entire world and beat the shit out of them while bringing them back."
She paused, then continued, "However, something strange did happen a few years ago. Thousands of miles from Dragon Island, among the Six Dragon Beast Islands, one of the islands experienced a sudden and complete disappearance of its dragon beasts. Almost all of them—gone. The total number? Probably over two hundred."
The elf elders exchanged glances. A bold thought crossed their minds—but they quickly dismissed it.
"There were indeed more than two hundred metallic dragons that Bogarde saw," the Great Elder admitted, furrowing his brows. "But I refuse to believe that Bogarde would mistake dragon beasts for true dragons."
The distinction was clear—if true dragons were powerful, winged lizards, then dragon beasts were simply lizards with the wings removed. There were countless other differences, but the most important ones were intelligence and ability.
Yet… something was odd.
Bogarde's report described a group of metallic dragons with strong, slender bodies and exceptionally broad wings.
Wait.
Among metallic dragons, only gold dragons were known for their broad wings. The wings of silver, brass, bronze, and copper dragons were not significantly larger than their bodies.
In fact, metallic dragons didn't solely rely on their wings to fly. They possessed a spell-like ability called Levitation, which allowed them to move freely through the air. Their wings were mostly for stability and acceleration or just a show of dominance they had over skies.
The Great Elder shared this information aloud.
Hearing this, Sandy's playful demeanor vanished, replaced by a look of deep contemplation.
"...That is strange," she muttered, crossing her arms. "Even among metallic dragons, mutations that cause abnormally large wings are rare. The chances of an entire group of them appearing at once? That's a big warning sign."
She flexed her fingers, cracking her knuckles. "Where did these 'true dragons' go? I want to see them for myself."
"The last known location was a deserted island west of the Dark Forest," the Great Elder replied. "According to Bogarde, they were engaged in battle with sahuagin and sea beasts. But if you're planning to go—"
"Got it, got it. Mala, you talk way too much. Bye~"
Before he could finish, Sandy cast a teleportation spell and disappeared.
The Great Elder's face darkened. Without hesitation, he conjured a portal and immediately followed.
If she got into a fight with those dragons—or worse, the Red Eagle Blood Knights—it wouldn't just be her problem.
It would be a disaster for the Emerald Forest.
Once the alliance between the two parties is broken due to this incident, and an ally is lost and a terrible enemy is added, the loss will be too great!
---
Dark forest, west, offshore area.
A large number of desert islands are scattered across the sea.
At this time, a war was going on on a large island covering an area of hundreds of thousands of square kilometers to the east of the sea.
This was a war between the large indigenous sahuagin tribe of the island and the dragon-born sahuagin.
Of course, this was the case at the beginning.
Not long ago, when the dragon army from Black Wing Nest arrived here, the situation changed.
---
Go back to shortly before the war began.
The leader of the dragon-born sahuagin is the strongest sahuagin that the Black Dragon Lord contracted as a dependent—'Fitz.'
Before the contract, Fitz was the murloc earl who commanded tens of thousands of murlocs, possessing high-order strength.
After the contract, in more than a year, his strength not only improved a lot, reaching the peak of the 14th order and on the verge of breaking through to the master order, but the army of fishmen below also expanded from 10,000 to 30,000.
Among them, there are thousands of dragon-born murlocs who have been infused with the lord's blood on a large scale since they were young. These dragon-born murlocs grew rapidly after eating a large amount of blood food and soon reached the third or fourth order in strength. A small group of talented individuals even reached the fifth order or above.
As his power and strength expanded, Fitz's ambitions naturally grew, and he set his sights on the largest island in the sea.
And soon, he chose to start a war.
But what Fitz didn't expect was that the fishman tribe on this island actually raised a group of sea tigers.
Sea tigers are similar in appearance to sea lions and seals but are much larger. Adults can generally grow to three meters. Their pair of forearm claws are very large, sharp, and ferocious. The most important thing is that they can fight on land and sea. In the sea, they are like packs of tigers and wolves, not weak in speed, flexibility, or strength. But when they get to land, their folded tail fins split and turn into powerful claws, working in coordination with their front claws to move quickly. Again evolution trying to reach superiority.
Because they did not expect that this large murloc tribe would also raise a group of sea tigers, at the very beginning of the war, the murloc army led by Fitz was always at a disadvantage and was quite embarrassed.
The sea beasts that participated in the battle, except for a few large sea beasts and dark green sea snakes, were all bitten and devoured by swarms of sea tigers.
If it weren't for the sea tigers not being as nimble on land as they were in the sea, and for Fitz having an ace team of dragon-born murloc warriors at his disposal, this war would have been lost with high probability.
But even so, the murloc army led by Fitz could only remain in a stalemate with the island's indigenous murloc tribe. The former dared not leave; after all, if they escaped into the sea, they would inevitably be hunted by the sea tigers, and the losses would be very heavy. The latter could not choose to surrender and had been stubbornly resisting the attack of Fitz's fishman army.
But this was the situation before.
When the Black Nest's Red Eagle Blood Knight led the vast dragon army to this place, the murloc armies on both sides were stunned.
But soon, after sensing the familiar aura emanating from these giant dragons and the Red Eagle Blood Knights, Fitz's eyes suddenly lit up.
His power was given by a mysterious black-scaled dragon man.
This had to make Fitz think.
In fact, just as Fitz had guessed, the leader of the Red Eagle Knight fell to the ground from high altitude, communicated with Fitz, conveyed the Black Dragon Lord's orders, and stated their purpose for coming.
After learning everything, Fitz didn't hesitate at all. He immediately accepted the order from the Black Dragon Lord, his master, and while the island's indigenous murlocs were still in a state of confusion, he asked them to come and "experience" the dragons. The dragons immediately joined the war.
The dragon-born murloc army, which was originally at a slight disadvantage, instantly gained the absolute upper hand with the addition of more than 300 giant dragons.
Except for the three little female dragons who left for adventure alone, all the dragon beasts and true dragons in Castle Black were dispatched this time—a total of 318—including the black dragon siblings Hannah and Emilia. Two hundred and ninety-nine of them were dragon beasts, and nineteen were true dragons.
Among these giant dragons, two hundred and twenty-one were in the intermediate order. The weakest were at the fifth order, and the strongest were at the ninth order. Ninety-one giant dragons were high-order, ranging from the 10th to the 14th order. Only six giant dragons had reached the master order, just entering the weakest fifteenth order.
However, whether it was a void drake or a true dragon, they at least belonged to the elite template. Some gold dragons and red dragon void drakes could even be considered BOSS templates. At the same level, all sahuagin fighters were, without exception, instantly killed. Even if some mutated sahuagin were more powerful, they could only last a few more moves.
The most powerful of these indigenous fishmen were only seven or eight high-order fishmen, most of whom were at level ten or eleven. Only the leader of the indigenous fishmen had reached level fourteen. The remaining tens of thousands of murlocs had highly variable strength. The weakest were only slightly stronger than goblins, while the strongest were at levels three or four, with only a small number of elite murlocs reaching the intermediate level.
Faced with the rampage of the dragon-born murloc army and more than 300 giant dragons, the indigenous murloc tribe could only hold on for less than a quarter of an hour before completely collapsing.
"This is too weak. To be honest, such a weak creature really can't bite," a male white dragon, ten meters long and strongly built, said with some contempt.
Next to the male white dragon, the twelve-meter-long blue dragon glanced at him, rolled his eyes, and said,
"Stop pretending. The blood food you ate in Castle Black is only of this order."
Most of the blood food supplied to the dragons by Castle Black consisted of low-order creatures, with a small number of intermediate creatures. High-order creatures were only supplied to a select few dragons, such as Eirlys, Emilia, Hannah, and the six master-level dragons.
But even for Eirlys, Emilia, Hannah, and the six master-order dragons, their main food source was still low- and mid-order creatures. High-order creatures only appeared occasionally.
After all, even the Black Dragon Lord sometimes couldn't hunt enough master-order creatures in the damned abyss and had to rely on the flesh and blood of high-order creatures, a lot of treasure and Evil Eye Shawarma to supplement the feast.
"Dior, you are so annoying. You don't know how to chat at all. I won't talk to you anymore."
The male white dragon snorted, feeling very dissatisfied with his blue dragon friend. He fell to the ground without looking back and began picking out food.
The blue dragon, Dior, murmured to himself and also landed, choosing food alongside him.
However, whether it was a white dragon or a blue dragon, they all had a tacit agreement to only choose prey they had personally killed.
This was the rule of experience.
Living comfortably without anybody's help.
---
"Where is this?"
From any door, a silver-haired, barefoot girl stepped out, suspended in the air. She gazed at the endless blue sea around her and frowned slightly.
