Reborn As A Ghost: Time To Build My Undead Army!

Chapter 1257: Sofia's Words

-----

As I was going to go to sleep for tonight, I quickly felt the presences of Sofia, Alma, and Emily waking up that night, they looked rather tired but at least managed to finally wake up. Though they ended up losing their entire free day, which is a pity.

"Ah, for how long did we slept?" Emily yawned.

"Ugh, my head still hurts a bit…" Alma sighed.

"I feel surprisingly ok…" Sofia said.

They gathered in my room though, so I had to quickly use my Divine Ego Soul Body to greet them with that, it wasn't the best way to do it, but it wasn't bad.

"Hey girls you're finally awake, good morning." I sat over my bed.

"Ah, Maria! Thank god you're here," said Alma. "I thought you went to see your sister."

"Me too, I had imagined you wouldn't be here," Emily nodded.

"Well I'm technically there, this is a secondary body made of shadows," I smiled. "I left it here in case you girls would wake up. Want to eat something?"

I quickly opened my Inventory and brought all the leftovers from our big meal we had with my family, there was a lot of pizza, fried chicken, hamburgers, and Chinese food left.

"Ooh nice! I'm so hungry!" Emily nodded happily, sitting by my side. "What the…?! The pizza's still hot and melty! So niceeee!"

She started eating right away.

"Oh, chicken… Maybe I'll have a bite too," Alma licked her lips and started eating. "Nom, nom… Hmm, with the barbeque sauce what can go wrong?"

"Gulp…" Sofia was staring in silence as she seemed very hungry too.

"Want to eat some with us?" I asked her.

"B-But it's junk food…" she muttered. "Don't you have something healthier?"

"I got this…" I said, showing her some shrimp fried rice I never ate. "Also these spring rolls and gyoza-"

"Gimme! I love Chinese food!" she quickly stole those things from my hands, placed them over the nearby table and sat down to eat. "Hmm, ah I'm so hungry! Nom, nam, hmm!"

The three girls ended up eating more than talking, they were all starving from having slept all day. I think they haven't eaten anything since early in the morning.

But yeah it couldn't be helped they were just hungry at the end.

"So you girls feel better now?" I asked them after they finished their meals.

"Phew, yeah! That was amazing, I was so hungry…" Emily nodded, yawning. "Now I feel a bit sleepy again."

"Ah, what a pain…" Alma sighed. "We ended wasting away the entire day sleeping… it was supposed to be our break."

"Ah yeah, it couldn't be helped I guess," I shrugged. "We can do something better tomorrow I mean, after school, if you want?"

I just wanted them to cheer up a bit, they had gone through way too much and I just wanted them to smile. This was a big modern city, right? So it would be nice to investigate it and camouflage it as just some friends hanging out.

"Sure… sounds good!" Emily nodded. "Anything to just get away from this place for once."

"Yeah!" nodded Alma. "I'm a bit scared to go to the city at night though… but if I go with you I think it's fine…"

Sofia was silent though, looking a bit sad.

"I'm sorry… It's all my fault," she sighed. "If it wasn't for my own problems, where I ended involving everyone into it, nobody would have lost their free day, and you would have had a nice break… I ended forcing my problems into you girls and I… I screwed up a lot. I definitely shouldn't have gotten away with it so easily, honestly."

"It wasn't so easy though, you suffered quite a lot, didn't you?" I asked. "And I mean… you are our friend right?"

Although I've only met her for this little time, I've already grown quite attached to these three girls. Their friendship is incredibly contagious, and it kind of gives me the nostalgia of my days as a high schooler, but perhaps much nicer because I'm no longer a nerd.

"Yeah!" Emily nodded. "I'm glad things resolved nicely, Sofia. So don't say stuff like that ever again, ok? Enough with that shit."

"I-I agree, Sofia," nodded Alma. "We managed to get out of that mess without making our lives worse, and we saved you… I think the day we wasted was worth it."

"Just a day to save our friend? That's a bargain," said Emily, nodding. "Right?"

"Yeah," I nodded. "That's right."

Sofia looked at us with her face full of emotions, but she quickly started crying at first, then she smiled and covered her face, and then started crying even loudly.

"I'm sorry… still, I'm so sorry… You're so nice with me! It's not even fair at this point! Y-You dummies! Why do you go so far for someone so selfish, and stupid like me?!" she kept crying. "I mean, what's good about me?! I haven't done a single good thing for any of you! You should… you should just hate me instead… I'm selfish, envious, jealous, superficial… I was even narcissistic… I haven't been a good friend…"

"You aren't that bad, Sofia, yeah you were a bit stuck-up, but you still were a loyal friend," Emily smiled. "You always stayed at our side since you joined us. And even though you never admitted you liked us as your friends, you always brought us good presents for our birthdays and even Christmas."

"Yeah! You never forget each of our birthdays, that's really nice of you…" Alma smiled cutely. "A-And I know life can be so hard sometimes… you've had it so rough Sofia… You've been a bit mean but… you've never really insulted me before. You don't call me piggy or fatty… and you always respect me to an extent… and when other girls or boys bullied me, you would always defend me and reprimand me for being so meek and passive… but you always were good deep down."

"A-Alma…" Sofia sighed. "Ah… dammit… You're only going to make me cry even more!"

"Hahaha, see?" I asked. "They love you as their friend… So just cut it off already, Sofia. Be happy you have them… us. And well, that's it."

"Thank you…" Sofia said, cleaning her tears. "For being my friends…"
