Chapter 1398: The Nightmare Demon King's Fury
-----
The Nightmare Demon confronted the woman, who was silently and happily drinking wine while eating little biscuits as she glanced the beautiful sunset in her room within the castle. The cold wind, the relaxing grasslands, the forest, the small rustic house she had built at the riverside, and the sound of birds singing in the distance was all so relaxing, so nice.
She could close her eyes and just feel finally released from everything, from the loops, from her pain, from everything… She was finally just letting go of all things now, finally just forgetting it all, and finally letting her sister rest.
And yet, the Nightmare Demon that appeared by her side, the King of all of them, glared at her with anger, his blue eyes turning deep red, as black and red colored veins appeared through his face and body, showing his fury, and a hint of his true form beneath the mask of a handsome, humanoid being.
"Why did you lie to me?" He asked, trying to keep his cool, however, his long claws surged from his nails, as his hands began twisting and angrily crackling, as if ready to cut her into pieces.
"You know that if you kill me, nothing of what you're planning will succeed, right? We talked about this beforehand," She sighed, drinking some more wine. "Wouldn't you like to sit down, calm down, and talk things through?"
BAAM!
The Nightmare Demon King kicked the biscuits and the wine away, breaking the bottle and splattering the wine over the grass.
Suddenly, the sky turned black, the grass withered, the tree by her side died and became dried, devoid of leaves, the gentle winds became too strong, as if a storm was brewing.
The sun setting suddenly gained a single crimson eye, glaring at her while crying black blood.
From the ground, nightmarish monstrosities started coming out, groaning and howling at her…
"Did you had to do this? Did you had to ruin my fantasy?" She sighed. "I only asked you for a single thing and you show me this now… Why?"
"Why? because you lied to me," the man said. "You act too cocky, you think you have everything figured out, huh? So was it part of your trap to make my children believe they could easily take down the Transmigrators? Without knowing their true power? The power you kept concealed from me?"
"Power?" She wondered, looking at him. "Look, we agreed to do this together because I want my sister's pain to finally end. And because… I'm tired of this endless loop, I don't want any more of this. I want her to rest… to finally let go of this shitty world. I've been telling you the absolute truth since the moment we forged this alliance."
"You're still lying?" He asked.
"I am not, and you can easily check such things, can't you?" She asked.
"…"
The man groaned, as he realized she was indeed not lying with his powerful abilities. He glared at her again, although slightly less angered.
"I really don't know what happened, can you explain to me?" She asked. "Come on, you're not like this. You're a gentlemanly, educated man, aren't you? You're the smartest, most human-like of all nightmare demons."
"…" The Nightmare Demon sighed, as he crossed his arms. "Listen well…"
He told her what he learned, and everything else. Her calm face suddenly changed, as her eyes widened lightly, her expression was of surprise, she even started sweating a bit of cold sweat.
"What? But this is… it shouldn't be possible for the Transmigrators to be this powerful… They never were…" She muttered. "Those replacing my sister and my brother… Those impostors from another world… Are they strong enough to even kill your children?!"
"So you didn't have any idea…!" The Nightmare Demon facepalmed. "I can't believe you're so unresourceful, why didn't your research this with them beforehand?! They're right beside you! You have to find out how strong they are! And tell me their weaknesses, what can we use to exploit them and kill them before they ruin our plans."
"…I'll try," she sighed. "But this isn't part of the deal you know? You should be the one that kills them, not me. You're the King of all Nightmare Demons, so why not just go against them and find out whose stronger right away? Are you afraid or something?"
"I am not afraid…" he groaned angrily, glaring at her with furious eyes. "But you know my power is too much. A second stepping into the mortal realm will easily corrupt it all into a Nightmare Field, and we don't want to bring more attention than we already have done so… Even less, they'll be instantly wary of us. We need to plan an ambush first. And above all, I am the one keeping this castle together. The entire formation that my wife is using to create offspring is through my powers as well!"
"Hm, I suppose you're not wrong, you're quite the hopeless, helpless man, haha," the woman laughed. "It feels like you're a house husband~!"
"Stop it with the jokes, I don't have the patience right now…" He glared at her furiously. "You have been warned, do as I say, and do your part of the deal, understood?"
"Yes, I understand. Can you turn it back now? I dislike this," the woman sighed, glancing around her.
"This is the true nature of the world you're inhabiting, woman," he said. "The grasslands you saw, the forest you saw, the wind you felt, it was all fake…"
He began walking away, as things slowly changed back to how she wanted.
"But that is fine with you isn't it?" He smiled back at her, as if mocking her. "You pathetic humans can only be comfortable by living your fake lives, in your fake worlds, in your fake stories… You're too cowardly to even confront reality… This is why we are born. Enjoy it while it lasts."
He walked away, as she sighed, glancing at him with slight disdain.
"…"
She looked down at the broken bottle of wine, her eyes filled with both intrigue and… self-doubt.
"If they're so strong… Could there be still a chance, sister?"
