Chapter 217: Chapter 217: Ruthless Move _1

“Zhang Cuihua, what are you doing?” He quickly stepped forward, grabbed the stick from Zhang Cuihua’s hand, and tossed it to the ground. He then squatted to examine the wounds on his daughter.

“Zhang Cuihua, are you really a mother? Look what you’ve done to our little girl. I know you favor boys over girls, but she’s your flesh and blood too. How could you be so heartless?”

The little girl, clinging to Yun Hai’s clothes, had a tear-stained face.

Zhang Cuihua felt more resentment toward the girl after being yelled at by Yun Hai.

“Sweetheart, don’t cry, don’t cry, let daddy blow on it.” Yun Hai looked at the welts on his daughter’s body and glared harshly at Zhang Cuihua.

“Aren’t you going to cook? I really don’t know how you grew up this way. Despite being a woman, you still favor boys over girls. If I catch you hitting her again, I won’t be polite to you.”

In some ways, Yun Hai had been well-educated by his parents, without any sort of male preference mindset. He had never noticed his wife’s favoritism until their daughter was born.

“I just hit her once, and you’re making such a fuss.” Zhang Cuihua retorted stubbornly.

Yun Hai scoffed coldly, “Are you blind? Can’t you see the welts on her body? And you two, is this your idea of taking care of your sister? I’m grounding you both from dinner tonight.” He then lifted his daughter to clean her up.

Zhang Cuihua watched Yun Hai being so affectionate towards their daughter and felt an upsurge of jealousy. “She’s just a girl, who will eventually marry out.”

Upon hearing this, Yun Hai shot Zhang Cuihua a severe glare. “Have you forgotten that you’re a woman too? After these years of marriage, you’re still bringing stuff from your parents’ house. Haven’t you thought that maybe your mother felt the same way? Zhang Cuihua, if you don’t want to live here anymore, there’s the door. If you want to leave, go now. You often talk about how selfish your brothers and sisters are, but look at them. Are they always beating or scolding their daughter? She’s only four. Let me tell you something, Zhang Cuihua if I find out you’re still bringing stuff from your parents’ house, you can roll back to the Zhang family. The Yun family doesn’t need a daughter-beater and an unsuitable daughter-in-law.”

Zhang Cuihua was stunned.

Yun Mingliang and Yun Mingze sneaked a glance at Zhang Cuihua and asked in a low voice, “Mom, we heard that Uncle woke up and Aunt Meng came back, is that true?”

Zhang Cuihua had been seething over Meng Yunhan and that was why she had hit the little girl and got scolded by her husband.

“Do you want to be punished too?”> Zhang Cuihua yelled at her two sons.

Zhang Cuihua usually adored her sons, but she couldn’t hide her anger from them now that they brought up Meng Yunhan.

Yun Mingliang and Yun Mingze quickly slipped away.

Now that they were gone, Zhang Cuihua had no one left to vent her anger on.

“Sweetheart, does it hurt?” Yun Hai gently rubbed medicinal oil on his daughter’s wounds and asked softly.

His daughter’s tears welled up in her eyes, “Dad, does mom not like me? Why does she always hit me?”

Seeing his daughter like this, Yun Hai felt an immense ache in his heart, “Our little girl is being good. Your mom is just upset about something else.”

Yun Hai fully understood the reason for his wife’s wrath.

She had previously mentioned she wanted their youngest brother to get their sons inducted into the military. But given his brother’s recent actions, that favor was certainly off the table. So, taking out her anger on their daughter happened to be a convenient option.
