Chapter 90: Lesson
The next morning, the rain stopped for a while, but it started again after breakfast.
On rainy days, the educated youth point continued to teach everyone to read and write, but Gu Lingling still didn't go.
Gu Juan, on the other hand, ran off happily, heading out immediately after breakfast and returning only at lunchtime.
Under Old Man Zhou's guidance, Gu Lingling felt a sudden enlightenment.
Today was the day to go there to help, and although it was raining, Gu Lingling still put on a raincoat after breakfast and set off.
This journey wasn't short, and the opportunity to have Yang Yunhai teach her grappling was indeed rare.
The rain was quite heavy, but luckily this road was maintained by soldiers every year, making it easier to travel compared to the muddy roads in the village.
"Yo, whose little girl is this, walking so fast, where are you rushing off to?" Gu Lingling was hurrying along, quietly reciting the knowledge from yesterday's Chinese textbook, when she heard a slovenly voice.
It was the village bullies Er Gouzi and Zhuzi.
But instead of hanging around the village, why run into the cornfield in this big rain to hide? It seemed uncomfortable.
Looks like they were waiting for her here.
Gu Lingling looked in the direction of the two and indeed saw an umbrella in the cornfield.
If she wasn't mistaken, that umbrella should be the same color as the one Gu Juan used this morning.
"What do you want?" Gu Lingling squinted at the two in front of her.
Their hair parted seven-three, clinging to their heads in strands, whether from rain or just greasy hair, looked disgusting.
Yet they were oblivious, standing askew, shaking their bodies and smoking, occasionally blowing smoke rings trying to look cool.
Truly as ridiculous as can be, as ugly as can be.
"What ugly people do weird things" probably refers to people like this.
"Nothing much, brother just wants you to play with us," Er Gouzi said with a grin, holding a cigarette and smoothing back his oily hair.
"Heh..." Gu Lingling laughed mockingly, "Just you two?"
"Huh? This little girl has quite the mouth." Er Gouzi took a deep drag on his cigarette and stomped it hard on the ground, "Brother like feisty ones like you."
"Oh really? Let's see if you've got what it takes." Gu Lingling's hand inside her raincoat held tightly onto a pair of scissors, which Old Man Gu insisted she take with her before she left the house.
Now armed, she could use these two to practice and test what she had learned recently.
"Stupid girl, Brother Gouzi is giving you face." Zhuzi came over fiercely, "You better behave."
As soon as he finished speaking, he tried to grab Gu Lingling's clothes, but she quickly dodged and delivered a swift kick to Zhuzi.
This move wasn't taught by Yang Yunhai.
But seeing Zhuzi, Gu Lingling suddenly remembered that in her past life, this guy was a rapist.
If she could, Gu Lingling wished she could kick this scum to destroy him forever.
"Oh! You... you damned girl." Zhuzi crouched down clutching himself, the kick was unexpected and forceful, leaving Zhuzi in excruciating pain.
However, that wasn't all.
Gu Lingling raised her foot and kicked again.
None expected her to be so brazen, delivering another kick that sent Zhuzi tumbling aside.
"You damned girl, you're asking for it." Seeing his brother beaten, Er Gouzi dropped his cool act, threw down his umbrella, and lunged at Gu Lingling.
