Reborn: The Return of the Villainous Mr. Liu

Chapter 1078: Resolute and determined

Alix and Mui stepped out while Jin was left alone with her parents.

"What is going on?" Ren Luoyang demanded an answer.

"You should calm down or do you want to have another stroke?" She chided him.

"How can I calm down when our daughter suddenly comes up and shows a red booklet!"

"...I understand that but still, let's all calm down. It's not like she has married some random hooligan pervert off the streets."

He grimaced. Then he threw a sharp stare at Jin.

"I know I shouldn't be showing this attitude to you since it's your money that pulled us out of this precarious situation but at the same time, I cannot ignore that she got married…just like that! For God's sake, it's marriage, not a child's game. Nothing was even discussed with us! And I am pretty sure, neither with your family."

Jin bowed. "I apologize for that. I know it's rushed but there is no doubt in my sincerity-"

"Sincerity? It's not even about that! It's very clear that Alix doesn't see you the same way you do. This marriage out of dignity and self-respect is pretty much forced in my eyes because you might not call it being bound by a debt but we do. Don't try to convince me otherwise. She is burdened by your help and this is the best way she thought she could repay you, considering your feelings for her. But you should have stopped her!"

His gaze turned fiercer. "But you didn't because you saw this as a chance to get what you want!"

"Okay, that's enough shouting. You will really get another stroke at this rate and I will become a widow," Ren Cuifen forcibly pushed her husband against the bed's pillow and covered his mouth with her palm.

"Mmpff, Mmpff!!!"

Clearly, he was displeased by his wife's interference.

Ren Cuifen looked at Jin. "Please explain yourself. I don't need to ask Alix because we know why she did what she did. But we want to know your side of the story."

Ren Luoyang accusingly looked at her as if asking why they needed to hear his side of the story in the first place, but she ignored his glaring gaze.

Jin remained quiet. He knew the couple loved Alix like their own daughter and probably they would find it difficult to believe their history but that was the only way he thought he could explain where he was coming from.

"You had asked before if I knew her real identity and I said I did. It's related to that."

So he slowly proceeded to tell the past - not the whole story but just enough to make them understand what impact Zhan Yahui had made in the lives of the Liu family members. And why Jin and her relationship, to Alix, seemed impossible to achieve.

"Because of one misunderstanding, she went down the revenge path to hurt my family and also many innocent people in the process. When she realized that, she had killed herself right in front of our eyes."

The couple shook hard, the surrounding becoming strangely so quiet that they could have heard a pin drop on the floor.

"By some miracle, she got reincarnated into your daughter's body. I didn't know. But the more time I spent with her, the more I simply found myself unable to let go of her. She told me the truth when I confessed to her. But I…" his gaze looked distant, "despite knowing who she was, I couldn't hate her. I didn't want to hate her because in a way, that woman who wanted revenge from us was gone."

Jin took a slow, steady breath and met their stunned gaze.

"That's why you can understand now why she is so against me. Yes, she doesn't love me but she also doesn't want to love me because she cannot forget the atrocities she did against my family. She simply cannot see herself becoming the daughter-in-law of the family she ruined in the past. And that's where I want to prove her wrong."

He trembled slightly, his fingers clenching in his palm.

"My family knows she really is."

That made them jolt.

"You might think that they would be against her but they aren't. I am not saying it would be a rosy path since day one but it wouldn't be thorny forever either. They are seeing the same Ren Alix that I am. But she doesn't want to see that. She would never allow herself that liberty. So I am extremely sorry but the only way to make her my wife in these circumstances was to make her indebted to me."

He continued. "Yes in a way, I did force her but I don't have the slightest intention to hurt her. I will always love, respect and protect her and the more she spends time with my family, she will eventually realize that my family wants the same as well. If…she is stubbornly shutting all the doors herself then I have no choice but to stubbornly barge in anyway. That's how I am. I am not letting go of her at any cost."

Alix saw the door open and Jin stepped out. His eyes caught her standing at a distance and he walked towards her.

"Why do you look so sour?"

"I had expected to see at least a handprint on your face."

"I would have gladly taken any number of slaps," he said, unfazed.

"Don't act like a Romeo."

He smiled. "I won't act like a Romeo because our story is not ending in a tragedy."

Why does he has a comeback on every damn thing!?

"I-Is sis leaving right away?" Mui asked from behind a pillar, her eyes all wet with tears.

Alix froze. The thought of now living in the Liu villa was making her feel the sweat.

"I am not that heartless. Uncle and Aunt are not in the best of their health so she should stay with her family until they recover. I will handle the company part."

Okay, how long can I prolong their hospital stay? Alix was already starting to plot her schemes.

"If anybody is thinking that prolonging their hospital stay is their way out, then they should think again."

She threw him a hateful glare, gnashing her teeth.

He smiled. "Until then, the Liu villa will all be ready for your welcome."
