Reborn With A Technology System In A Fantasy World

Chapter 164: Salvation (4)

Upon her approval, Adrian nodded in return and explained:

"You'll feel a draw, something calling to you. Accept it."

The Elves exchanged uncertain glances, but seeing Nyra's acceptance, they collectively nodded.

In the next instant, they all vanished, drawn into Adrian's [Storage].

A notification flashed within his vision:

[Storage: 15/20 units stored]

This was [Storage], a major skill Adrian had recently acquired. It was similar to his [Inventory], but with a crucial distinction: it could store live beings.

Within its confines, the stored individuals could interact freely, move, and even converse. However, it came with significant disadvantages.

Firstly, he could only store individuals who willed themselves to be stored; forced entry was impossible. Secondly, the interior was an endless expanse of pure white, like the environment of the Simulator Room, offering no features or distractions.

And most critically, the space was fragile. Even the slightest intentional attack from within could rupture the barrier, instantly releasing the occupant back into the real world.

"You can chat and have fun," Adrian's voice echoed, resonating through the boundless white space, startling the Elves who found themselves suddenly adrift in nothingness. "But don't cause any attacks."

A chorus of startled gasps and then hesitant agreements floated back to him from the void.

Just when Adrian was about to focus on his next plans, the System flashed with a series of notifications:

[New Quest Unlocked!]

[Quest: The Sovereign's Reckoning]

[Objective: Establish your rightful rule by bringing true justice to the land.]

[Difficulty: SOVEREIGN]

[Requirements:

Free the Captives

Kill the Tyrant King

[Reward: 5,000,000 TP | 5,000,000 EXP | Mystery Reward]

Adrian was utterly blindsided. The sheer numbers, the astronomical rewards... 5 million TP, 5 million EXP! His mind reeled.

It didn't seem realistic. He could already envision all he could acquire with such an immense bounty. The possibilities spun before him

And then, the requirements.

"Kill the Tyrant King..." he muttered.

He wasn't afraid of the act itself, not if it was justified. But Adrian operated on principles.

He couldn't simply kill a King without just cause. That made him question everything he thought he knew. Were the king's actions truly deserving of death?

'The King is the foundation of the Kingdom,' Adrian reasoned with himself. 'I'll give him a chance. I need to know if his actions justify this.'

The rewards still danced in his mind, tempting him with their promise. A wry smile tugged at his lips as he added,

"Hopefully he's a bad person and deserves death. Then I can serve justice."

As for the first requirement, Adrian had already planned to complete it anyway. He didn't waste another moment.

He had learned from Nyra that the Elves had only captured people from the surrounding towns, which came as a small relief.

He moved with ruthless efficiency. He approached each building where the captured humans were kept. He didn't bother with grand gestures or dramatic rescues.

He simply freed them all. Many of the captives were still unconscious, but Adrian wasn't interested in playing anything more. He knew they would sort themselves out soon enough.

His job was simply to provide the opportunity for freedom.

Within minutes, every single captured person was freed. He heard murmurs of awakening, distant shouts of confusion, but he paid them no mind. His first objective was complete, allowing him to tackle his next goal.

While the quest pushed him towards Eldryth to confront the conflict directly, Adrian still had other, more personal priorities.

"I have to ensure Serena is safe," he stated, his glowing blue eyes fixed on a distant point.

He shifted his focus, his destination now the Borin mansion. He needed to confirm Serena's safety with his own eyes.

Adrian flew with no pretense of subtlety. He descended directly onto the sprawling grounds of the mansion, landing just before the grand double doors.

Instantly, several workers, identifying him as an intruder by his intimidating suit, converged on him.

They launched spells at him, but Adrian ignored them all. He shrugged off their futile efforts as if they were errant flies, his steps unwavering as he pushed past them and entered the mansion.

It was only after Torren, the butler, discovered him striding through the main hall that the workers were called off.

"Master Adrian," Torren said, his voice a surprising mixture of respect and trepidation.

The butler, despite his formal demeanor, was visibly intimidated by Adrian's imposing suit and aura, yet he managed to maintain a tone that Adrian appreciated.

"To what do we owe your visit at such a late hour?"

"I'm looking for Lady Serena," Adrian replied, his gaze sweeping the ornate hall, searching for any sign of her presence. "Is she at the Academy?"

Adrian didn't look sideways, but he could feel the subtle shift in Torren's composure before he could speak.

Just as the butler opened his mouth, another voice cut through the silence, sharp and clear.

"She's at the Academy. Serena is at the Academy."

Adrian turned his head slightly. Standing a few paces behind Torren was the woman who had birthed him, Lady Mirenia.

Her expression was carefully neutral, but Adrian's enhanced perception picked up on the faint tremor in her will, a subtle sign of unease she struggled to conceal.

"Is there anything else you want from her?" Mirenia continued, her voice attempting to sound casual. "And besides, is this how you greet your mother after so long?"

Adrian was uninterested in the pleasantries. His focus was solely on Serena. He wasn't sure, but from the slight disturbance in Mirenia's mental state, it seemed like she was lying.

It wasn't overtly noticeable, which said a lot about her skill at deception, but Adrian could detect the subtle signs.

He took a step closer to her, his glowing blue eyes fixed on hers, startling her slightly.

"I don't know what you're trying to hide from me, and I'm not going to question you right now," he stated, his voice calm but laced with an undeniable edge of warning.

"I'm going to the Academy to check on Serena. If anything has happened to her, I will not forgive you."

With his words hanging in the air, he turned abruptly and shot out of the mansion, a blur of motion streaking into the night sky.

Meanwhile, Lady Mirenia slowly exhaled a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. Her composure, so carefully maintained, began to crack.

She began to question the overwhelming presence she had just faced. She was a 7-Star Mage, yet Adrian's aura had made her feel genuinely afraid.

"He's not the same Adrian," she whispered to herself with worry.

Adrian soon arrived at the Academy. The hour was late, so everywhere was shrouded in the deep quiet of night. Only the bright glow of his mana bulbs illuminated the paths, giving a feel that it wasn't night.

He didn't want to cause a commotion or draw unnecessary attention.

So he descended discreetly, slipping through the entrance as though he were a student with a pass. The guards barely glanced his way, and he moved on unhindered.

Once inside, Adrian could recall exactly where Serena's room was. Although he hadn't come close to it, Serena had told him enough tales for him to estimate its exact location. So, he immediately headed for the Mages' quarters.
