Reborn With A Technology System In A Fantasy World

Chapter 172: Aftermath Of War (3)

The trip back to Zarion was smooth and uneventful. Adrian shared the front cockpit of the lead Trailblazer with Charles, who took on the role of driver.

The two of them simply existed in the quiet space, the silence broken only by the engine sound.

The silence reflected the general mood of the returning warriors, many of whom were still processing the events of the last few days.

The sheer speed at which everything had transpired. The war, the death of the King, the dawn of a new era. It had all left them in a state of quiet shock.

This silence, however, was not meant to last. Charles, with his talkative nature, eventually broke the silence with a lighthearted comment.

That first small utterance was like a spark, and it soon ignited a fire of conversation among the other warriors. Before long, the Trailblazer was filled with the sounds of chatter, laughter, and the shared excitement of finally going home.

Adrian used this time to get some much-needed rest. Even with the noise and activity filling the vehicle, he was able to tune it all out, sinking into a deep and restorative sleep.

Even though he slept enough the previous night, he was still feeling tired for some reasons, which meant that he hadn't fully recovered from the fight yet. Adrian was grateful for the chance to simply close his eyes and let his body recover, knowing that everything was under control.

Just as with their journey to the Elven Kingdom, they encountered no trouble in the Magical Forest.

The Trailblazers were equipped with advanced mana detectors, which allowed the drivers to pinpoint the location of magical beasts and navigate around them.

When a direct confrontation was unavoidable, the vehicles' reinforced frames and powerful engines proved more than capable of handling the beasts, either by driving past them with ease or smashing through them. Only few times were some people required to come down and handle the beasts.

But in all, Adrian's help wasn't needed once, and the entire fleet arrived back at the capital safely without a single scratch.

Upon their arrival at the capital city, the entire fleet of Trailblazers pulled to a halt in the center of the city.

The warriors disembarked in an organized fashion, forming a small crowd of people.

Adrian had instructed them to wait behind for a quick briefing. His gaze was fixed on the expectant faces before him.

'They need an explanation.'

He knew he had to address the existing crisis and bring some semblance of order to the kingdom.

With a sigh, he rose into the air, floating a few feet above the ground so that everyone could see him.

From below, the crowd looked up. Some, like the knights held weapons, but most were simply clad in robes, identifying them as Mages.

But what stood out most wasn't their attire or their numbers... it was their expressions. He saw people with expectant faces. Some others looked nervous, uncertain about the future that lay ahead. While some were simply fearful.

They had all gone through varying amounts of emotional turmoil, and Adrian understood them. He knew the immense pressure they were under, the grief and the uncertainty, and he knew he had to lead them out of it.

Adrian took a deep breath, and his voice carried with a clear and steady tone that reached every ear in the crowd.

"As most of you should know already... the King is dead."

A complete and deafening silence fell over the crowd. Adrian didn't need to release his aura to command their attention; the sheer gravity of his words, coupled with his collected calm, left no room for noise.

"And with his death comes a major reformation of this kingdom. To all those who lost their lives in this war, may they be rewarded. And to all those who mourn them, know that their memory will be the foundation of a new, more just Zarion. There will be no time to remain in grief, as I'd like to lay down my plans with all of you."

As Adrian spoke, people passing by on the streets — merchants, vendors, and ordinary citizens who didn't get rafter, all stopped what they were doing.

They began to walk closer, craning their necks to hear the young man speaking from the air. The city, which had been buzzing with its usual daily activities, now stood still, held captive by his words.

Adrian continued, his voice softer now but no less commanding. "I want the best for all of you, so you don't need to fret. For now, go and freshen up. Unite with your friends and family. Have some rest. We'll meet by 6:00 PM."

He paused, letting his words sink in before he continued. "There will be an announcement. I'd want to meet with every single person in Zarion, and I'll try to make that possible."

When Adrian was done, he dismissed them with a gentle wave of his hand. As they began to disperse, he could still sense the doubts and hesitation in some of their faces.

But this did little to discourage him. If anything, it only filled him with more resolve. He knew it was his solemn goal to earn their trust, not just through his actions, but through the new kingdom he would build.

Having offloaded all of the people, the Trailblazers had already set off toward the Corrupted Lands to continue their work. Only the one Charles had been driving remained, parked and waiting for him.

Charles himself was in the driver's seat, drumming his hands on the steering wheel while waiting patiently for Adrian to join him. When Adrian didn't move, Charles leaned out of the window and called out to him.

"Boss, you coming?" he asked expectantly.

Adrian, still floating in the air and watching the people as they dispersed, simply inclined his head slightly.

"Nah, I'm not done yet. You can return to New Haven without me."

Charles wanted to ask more questions, to understand what Adrian still had to do, but Adrian had already turned and flew off, leaving Charles with no other choice but to drive away.
