Reigning Supreme in Every Reality

Chapter 201: 200: The Skrulls' Covetousness

The battle between Lyon and Captain Marvel was broadcast live to the entire world by Jarvis through satellite surveillance.

Whether through household television networks, live streams on news portals, or the massive outdoor screens in commercial districts, everyone still worrying over the Skrull issue ended up witnessing this fight.

In that moment, fathers preparing dinner put down their knives, sleepy students in the subway widened their eyes, and hurried passersby all stopped in their tracks.

"It's Superman!" Ordinary people were focused on him.

Nick Fury, on the other hand, was focused on Superman's strength.

"This is impossible! How could he have defeated Carol?!"

Even while under interrogation, Nick Fury couldn't stop himself from standing up and shouting, "Motherfucker!"

Meanwhile, the higher-ups in various nations had their eyes on the person capable of going toe-to-toe with Superman.

"Who is that woman? I want all her information in three minutes!" General Ross, having just stepped out of a military tribunal, still radiated authority.

In the satellite broadcast footage, the battle between the two didn't seem particularly dramatic.

In fact, due to their extreme speed, it appeared less intense than two fighter jets darting through clouds, clashing back and forth with various tactical maneuvers.

What everyone saw was a woman wrapped in golden light, throwing punches at a speed the camera couldn't even track.

And then, she was caught by the wrist and taken down with a single punch from Superman.

To the average viewer, she looked like a flashy but weak no-name fighter.

Fortunately, Jarvis helpfully annotated the footage with the speed data of both parties and the reason behind the battle, so people wouldn't mistakenly think Superman was bullying the weak.

The world erupted in discussion.

"Each punch had a speed over Mach 700—how is that even possible?"

"Are those numbers real? Who is this woman trying to help the Skrulls stay on Earth?"

"I'm with the MIB Agency. Our supercomputer's simulation results also indicate speeds beyond Mach 700. This woman is stronger than Superman was when he shattered the terrain on the outskirts of Sokovia!"

"Much appreciated! Thank goodness Superman defeated her… But just how strong is Superman really?"

"Judging from the comics, he has multiple power levels!"

"Looks like there's truly nothing we can do to resist Superman's dictatorship now."

"Silence, heretic! How dare you slander the Trinity's Superman?! I've already traced your IP—prepare to be burned at the stake!"

...

While Earth's people buzzed with chaos, inside the Skrull fleet, every ship was deathly silent.

The Skrulls, too, were observing the battle in Earth's upper atmosphere using their own equipment.

This fight would determine whether they could stay or would be forced to leave.

At first, whether it was Talos or the average Skrull civilian, none of them felt much pressure.

They believed that Carol—famous throughout the universe—would have no trouble defeating Earth's so-called Superman.

But the outcome turned out to be the exact opposite of what they expected.

When Carol's fist was caught by Lyon, there was still a little Skrull girl cheering loudly, "You can do it, Big Sister Carol! Smash his head in!"

But now, that same girl had fallen silent, staring blankly ahead, her eyes filled with confusion and fear for the future.

Talos, the general of all Skrulls, was completely dazed.

The moment Carol was knocked down with a single punch—it was like a thunderclap that shattered his last shred of hope.

He felt as if he'd missed a step at the edge of a cliff, and his entire being was drowning in a crushing sense of despair.

How could this happen?

How could Carol lose?

She was Captain Marvel—Carol, the "Annihilator" who had nearly destroyed the Kree Empire!

And yet, no matter how unbelievable it was, it had become reality.

Watching on the screen as Superman flew out of Earth's atmosphere, dragging a completely incapacitated Carol behind him, Talos took a deep breath and silently led the other high-ranking Skrulls to wait in the docking bay.

A few seconds later, Superman appeared inside the bay. Talos quickly forced a smile, intending to say something polite.

But Superman simply flung Carol onto the floor like a sandbag and left behind a single word—"Scram"—before vanishing from the room.

"..."

Vanished along with him was Talos's awkward smile.

He lowered his head, his face dark as thunder. After a few seconds of silence, he crouched down beside Carol to check her condition.

At this point, Carol was soaked in cold sweat, her left forearm completely broken.

The place where the bone had snapped should have been a mess of blood and jagged bone shards, but thanks to her incredible regeneration ability, the compound fracture had already stopped bleeding and was rapidly healing.

Even so, her face was pale as gold foil, her forehead beaded with cold sweat.

Lyon's final punch had ruptured her internal organs.

Except for her heart, nearly all her organs had been reduced to pulp.

Had it not been for her photon-energy-enhanced body, she would undoubtedly be dead by now.

"Carol, how do you feel? Damn it—quick, get her to the med bay!" Talos barked orders to those nearby to help.

But Carol waved her hand weakly. "No… no need… I can… move… on my own."

"But your injuries…" Talos tried to persuade her.

Carol, however, clenched her teeth and shook her head, large beads of sweat rolling down her cheeks.

Her determination left Talos both worried and exasperated. He truly had no way of dealing with this stubborn woman.

But such a display, in the eyes of some of the Skrulls, carried a different meaning altogether.

Among the crowd behind Talos, Gravik and a few other young Skrulls exchanged glances, a certain thought forming silently between them.

They looked at the weakened Captain Marvel lying on the floor, at the dried scabs of blood on her body, and in their eyes, a quiet greed began to surface.

At that moment, Carol suddenly clenched her fists, gritting her teeth as photon energy surged through her body once more.

The earlier intense pain had nearly caused her to lose consciousness.

Only now had it eased slightly, giving her enough strength to summon her energy again.

That energy granted her powerful regenerative abilities—similar to Wolverine.

As the photon energy enveloped her, her broken bones realigned, and even her shattered internal organs began slowly regenerating.

She struggled to her feet, both hands bracing against the wall. "Take me… back to the ship, Talos."

"This is… Alright. Soren, quickly—take Carol to the small escape pod," Talos said, instructing his wife to help Carol away.

Soren responded immediately and hurried to support Carol, leading her into the interior of the ship.

Talos watched their retreating figures, his expression complicated.

The hope of staying on Earth had completely collapsed.

From now on, if they wanted to safely find a new home in the universe, they would still have to rely on Captain Marvel.

"General!" someone suddenly called out softly behind him.

Talos turned to see Gravik, followed by several other young Skrulls.

Their expressions were strange.

Like moles spotting a juicy berry dropped at the mouth of a snake's den—full of longing, yet hesitant.

Talos frowned. He knew these young ones were among the more militant: "What are you thinking? Even Carol couldn't stand against Superman. All of you had better abandon any foolish ideas!"

"No, General. I think this is the best opportunity," Gravik said, looking in the direction Carol had left.

His gaze was that of a starving wolf. "Captain Marvel is at her weakest right now. If we can get her blood, everything will change."
