Reincarnated as a Son of the Sword Saint and the Sage

Chapter 512: Pushing The Limits

With a monstrous strength of Boris, Erik resorted to revealing some tricks up his sleeve and showed off his magic swordsmanship in front of the audience for the first place he debuted in the tournament. The audience was definitely caught by surprise by that, but the reactions of his previous opponents were upset that Erik was only fighting them handicapped, smearing dirt on their faces.

However, not only did Erik reveal his affinity for magic, but Boris also discovered his secrets for his untouchable gameplay. Erik did not really care about being discovered, but he was taken aback by how he was underestimating the intelligence of Boris.

"Like I said earlier, magic does not affect me. Twin Arch!"

As he said those words, Boris performed a Level 4 Axe Art technique and simultaneously slashed his axes horizontally around a semicircle area in an attempt to land a hit on Erik, who was still cloaked with lightning. With his speed boosts, Erik quickly ducked and avoided getting scissored.

"Power Chop."

Immediately after that, Boris raised one of his axes overhead and then brought it down toward Erik with powerful momentum. Again, Erik could clearly see them moving at him before he did a barrel roll to the side and dodged it. The axe then carved a deep mark on the floor.

"Folded Slash."

Clink! Clink! Clink! Clink! Clink!

Erik lunged toward Boris and launched a Level 6 Sword Art technique, barraging Boris with five fast and sharp slashes. Boris then just immediately parried or blocked them all.

After that, the two of them continued exchanging blows, throwing different techniques and moves toward one another. The arena was filled with the screeching sounds of colliding metals and the lightning streaks from Erik's blade.

The audience was slowly becoming more anxious for every second that passed. Some were silently observing every movement, and some had been constantly cheering every time their favored warriors took advantage.

But more importantly, they did not expect that someone was fighting toe to toe with the continent's stronger active adventurer. Questions kept popping up in their heads, including the Phantom Fencer's origin, but nevertheless, he was giving them entertainment.

"Ha!"

After roughly two minutes of seemingly endless battle, Boris swung his axes in the same direction so fast and powerfully that Erik had to take a step back. He was trying to make a gap between them.

"Alright, I don't know who you are, but you are a lot stronger than you look. It's been a long time since I have been resorted to doing this."

As soon as he said that, Boris then slowly bent his knees by a few degrees before he pumped his arms. After that, his muscles seemed to be swelling, and then veins started popping up on his body.

Even though Erik had every chance to take advantage of his state, he just stood in place and watched what he was about to do for the sake of keeping this fight more entertaining. Even though he firmly believed that he should not allow his opponent to transform into a more powerful form, Boris was not someone he did not need to be cautious of.

A few seconds had passed, and Boris's body suddenly released a powerful surge of energy, and a shockwave was even detonated from him, which brushed off Erik's hair. The energy unleashed from his body was powerful enough that many of the other warriors felt its intensity.

After that, the released energy was then gathered and compressed in his body as if everything went in reverse motion. Boris straightened his back like the blade of a sword and presented his enhanced self to his opponent.

"Wait." Pretending to be surprised, Erik squinted his eyes. "Did you just activate Hyper Strengthening?"

"Ho? You knew this? But yeah, this is me at my peak."

What Boris just did was he enhanced himself with the Martial Art Level 9 Hyper Strengthening. It was a technique that boosted all the user's stats by up to eighty percent. However, like other stat-enhancing techniques, this move was a double-edged sword and came with a massive drawback.

"I see. Burning all of your remaining strength and stamina for a short boost, huh?"

(It's like running a supercar at full speed.) Erik then inwardly compared the situation to a situation in his previous world.

"But would that suffice to defeat me?"

"More than I needed."

In an instant, Boris vanished before Erik could blink. Suddenly, he reappeared again, but he was in front of him and in the middle of swinging his axes down to him. Everything went slow-mo for Erik as he was watching two axes moving to his face.

Even with the lightning armor, his whole body had no room to move or twist. Instead, Erik hurriedly raised his rapier diagonally, not to block the axes as they would shatter the rapier into pieces, but to absorb some of its energy before raising the hilt, making it more steep, and let it slide down.

Clink. Crash!

The collision of the axes and the floor caused a loud sound, and the spot was covered with dust. But the dust instantly settled when Boris swung his axe horizontally after Erik jumped out of it.

"Take this!"

Boris came after Erik and kept swinging his axes at him. Erik could just use afterimages to avoid getting hit by their destructive force, but Boris's sheer speed alone was so fast that Erik did not do so since making afterimages actually strained his own speed. Erik was in his lightning cloak, but Boris's speed was still matching his.

"Axe Storm!"

Executing a Level 7 Axe Art technique, Boris furiously slashed his axes at Erik.

"Hundred Slice!"

Clink. Clink. Clink.

Erik slashed his blade a hundred times to counter it, knowing that doing it might break his sword, but luckily, it did not.

"Ha!"

Boris then jumped high into the air. After reaching around ten meters above the floor, he then stretches his right arm behind before throwing one of his axes at Erik, powered by a Level 6 technique.

"Heavy Throw!"

The axe spun a few times as it flew several machs in the air before it hit its target. But the axe just passed through Erik as he was activating Partial Body Migration. When Erik looked up, Boris had been holding his axe in both hands, and it was raised overhead, ready to bring it down.

But when Erik focused on the axe, he could sense something different from it. It was now glowing a pale golden light, which meant it was now imbued with soul-damaging properties. Boris had activated one of his trump cards, the Divine Axe Art Level 1: Soul Cleaver.

"Eat this! You can't escape from this!"

Midair, Boris ultimately unleashed his most powerful move in his arsenal, a move that guaranteed to hit a single target while ignoring damage nullifications, a Divine Axe Art Level 2 technique called—

"Berserker's Wrath!"

Upon executing the technique, Boris hurled his axe with all his might and threw it straight to Erik. It was actually Erik's, as well as Raphael's, first seeing that technique personally, but he was certain that he would suffer severe damages if he took it head-on.

Given the situation that he could not use his hidden ultra skills, Erik decided to end it all at once with one move.
