Reincarnated into a World Filled with Dungeons, But My Blessing Turned Out to Be the Most Challenging Dungeon

Chapter 20

I quietly watched the scene as the examinees bustled about.

The place was in chaos, with everything from loud shouting to calls for party invitations as the candidates scrambled in confusion.

They were trying to recruit others to form parties, hoping to cooperate in order to survive the exam.

“Aren’t you going to apply for a party, Master?”

The only one who spoke to me was Eve.

“Do you think anyone would ask me to join?” I replied.

Since earlier, they’d all been avoiding me.

“Well, if they knew what’s inside you, you’d probably be very popular.”

The truth was, my equipment was lacking compared to the others. My gear was just a dagger, leather armor, and a robe—nothing impressive. My belongings were stored in The World.

I probably looked like the least prepared person here, and in everyone’s eyes, I must have appeared as if I was the first to drop out.

No one would be crazy enough to invite someone like me into their party.

“Anyway, let’s move away from this crowd,” I suggested, and I left the scene.

“So, what are you planning to do in this forest?”

While the other examinees leisurely formed parties, I ventured deeper into an uninhabited forest.

“This should be fine,” I murmured.

The ground was covered in fallen leaves, and I reached down to touch them.

“Eve, can you collect this leaf mold and put it over there?”

“Understood.”

Before my eyes, the leaf mold disappeared, and the damp soil underneath became visible.

There was a reason for my actions, of course.

“Now, scatter that leaf mold over the [Field].”

“Wow, Master, this is amazing! The field is growing right before my eyes!”

I listened to Eve’s excited voice. It seemed to be going well so far.

I had recently learned the [Field] skill from a large core. It was an expansion-type skill, and the condition to expand it was to add fertilizer.

In the royal capital, there were no forests, so it had been impossible to use, but this uninhabited island was different. Since it had never been tended to by humans, the resources were abundant.

That’s why I didn’t hesitate to get my hands dirty and work on expanding [Field].

“I just wish I could find some plants or seeds to grow here,” I muttered to myself.

This skill, learned from the large core, was incredibly useful. By adding fertilizer, I could expand [Field] and use it to grow plants.

“The skill description said that any plant will grow healthily in the field. If we grow vegetables, we won’t have to worry about food.”

If the growth was guaranteed without failure, it might be a good idea to find rare seeds and try growing them.

“But still, while the other examinees are desperately fighting for survival, here you are, Master, doing farming work. You’re really taking it easy, aren’t you?”

I couldn’t help but agree with her direct comment.

“Well, yeah. After all, the exam is just way too easy for me.”

At this point, I was almost guaranteed to pass. I had already prepared enough food for several weeks inside The World, and my abilities paired perfectly with the exam’s conditions.

In the worst case, I could just hide inside The World for the whole week and then join the others nonchalantly after the exam was over.

“But you’re not going to do that, right, Master?”

Eve seemed to want to say, “I know you too well,” with her expression. Though we hadn’t known each other for long, Eve already seemed to understand my personality.

Years of being a corporate drone had taught me to keep going—suddenly being told to relax felt strange.

“Well, since this is a rare opportunity and I have plenty of time until the exam is over, maybe I’ll take your advice and explore some dungeons or gather things that might sell,” I said.

I wanted to improve the [Temple] and obtain cores from other types of dungeons. Now that I had unlocked such an interesting ability, I wanted to test how useful it could be.

Even if I put the exam aside for a moment, it made sense to solidify my foundation and abilities.

“But Master, we still don’t have nearly enough fertilizer to fully develop the field.”

Eve’s report brought me back to reality, and I resumed gathering leaf mold.

After a while, light rain began to fall, and I decided to stop my work for the time being.
