Reincarnated To Evolve My Bee Empire

Chapter 348: Slaughter intensifies

"I see targets!"

"Charge! Charge!"

"A grasshopper—surround it before it gets away!"

Battle cries and shouts of commands filled the air, followed by smacks of hammers, cries of pain from the enemies, and the scent of blood.

Although all the insects around were evolved and sometimes even had dangerous abilities, they were still individual creatures that posed no threat whatsoever to an organized army like ours!

I watched this slaughter from the sky above the marching army, while my bodyguards dutifully kept watch so that nothing could ambush me from above.

Only a few creatures the crusaders met posed any resistance at all—like ants who fought instead of running. If there was an army of them, they could've tried to die less pathetically, but even large ants were smashed into mincemeat by a dozen bees attacking at once.

The insects that were fast and smart enough had tried to escape from the march of the crusaders. Some of them even succeeded, but they would find no unprotected seeds here if they dared to return.

'Don't chase after those who escape away from the crop field! It's just a waste of time,' I ordered telepathically. Now that the soldiers have spread out, it was much harder to focus on all of them at once, and instead I only sent the message to leaders of thousands.

Not all enemies tried to run. There were a few beasts in our way—small feathered lizards, bug-like mice—that were, though, swiftly defeated by the sheer number of soldiers. And if my girls met a creature with a shell too tough or too spiky to crack, they spat napalm at it, cooking it alive!

They didn't use fire left and right—the bees had a limited supply of the fuel, and they had to be careful to not burn any seeds. But they sure used it effectively.

I actually saw a few bees stop near a charred snail and cut a few pieces off it to chew right as they flew toward their next target. The status showed that the snail still had a few health points left when they did it.

'Dammit, I understand that all this fighting will make fighters very hungry quickly—they still have no fat reserves, after all—but they could at least wait until the battle is over! This can't be hygienic. What if they catch another virus?!'

After this fight, I was going to make sure Malevolence explains this to the Warrior Bees.

Right now she was too busy organizing the individual thousands and squads so they would work most effectively, and did a good job at it.

Even with no hints from me, she made the bees go over the field in an arc-like formation. This way, when most insects noticed that there was danger approaching, they were already half-surrounded.

Of course, the field was too large to fully surround like that, especially since many insects could fly and would try escaping higher up. But this made the army kill more insects, which was the goal.

Total annihilation!

And what was even better, the smell of all the dead insects attracted the attention of predators that foolishly tried to come to the fields…

Only to be slaughtered, too! It was like a massive flytrap!

I chuckled at this, and as I saw more and more corpses litter the ground, even laughed.

All these ugly creatures… They were most similar to humans on my original Earth, but this only made them more disgusting! The insect features on them made their appearance fit somewhere right in the uncanny valley!

Only bees were beautiful. And wasps, maybe. Hornets had monstrous faces with massive mouths and teeth, while bumblebees were covered in fur all over, like Chewbakka.

A few bees fighting around and below had noticed my glee, and it immediately transferred to them.

"We are making Father happy, sisters! He's laughing!" a bee shouted, raising the spear with a dog-sized aphid skewered on it. "Kill for Father!"

"Kill! Kill! Kill!"

The slaughter intensified!

Two hours later, the field was much bloodier and the insects there were much deader. The scents of blood and pheromones were thick in the air, but at this point, few creatures were around to be curious about them.

Malevolence dispatched border patrols on this field, which flew over at regular intervals, killing everybody who tried getting in.

On the field itself, teams of soldiers were gathering dead insects so they could be cooked and eaten by the army later—or at least just thrown out so they wouldn't rot on the field and spread illnesses.

100 thousand bees needed a lot of food, and although humans from Krisha village will give the most of it, fresh meat was still good.

At another side, a field hospital was set up for the small number of bees who were wounded by splashes of acid or venom from one of the more dangerous insects.

Around this time, I saw a colossal figure approaching from the side, wearing a set of clothes I was already familiar with—this was Tamsha.

He was pushing a wheelbarrow with a single large stone box in it. As I flew closer to him, Tamsha set the wheelbarrow down and carefully put the box on the ground next to it.

'Your Majesty!' he thought purposefully when he noticed me, then lowered his head in almost a bow. 'I got you the box you asked for. The rest of the supplies will be delivered a bit later.'

'What are you doing here, Tamsha? Anybody could've brought this box. You were supposed to make sure all the supplies for my soldiers are in order,' I replied, frowning.

The Krisha villagers were obedient, but they could mix things up unintentionally, or forget that they weren't supposed to put things into containers that were too hard to get into.

Tamsha turned away from me slightly and tried to hide his thoughts, but I heard them anyway. He was never good enough at it, even though at this point he *knew* I could read even the thoughts not addressed to me.

He didn't succeed in hiding his thoughts this time, either.
