Chapter 211: A SINISTER PULSE
Before the creature could even decide what to do, Logan was already there, hurling a punch, ice wrapping his fist like steel.
The human-faced monster, its rage fueled by the fear gnawing in its chest, lunged at the same time. Its own fist slammed forward.
Bam!
The collision cracked the ground beneath them, shockwaves rippling through the air. Both were blasted backward, skidding across stone and dirt.
Logan dashed again. The creature hurled its fist, but twisting his body, he easily dodged it and then threw an uppercut which slammed into the creature's chin with a loud thud.
Whosssh!
Spraying out blood, the creature was thrown off the ground and sent flying.
Logan didn't even stop for a breath. Without giving the creature any chance to relax, he stormed again.
He raised both his hands and arced them backward. A huge ice hammer materialized.
The creature raised its hand as a shield and a barrier formed out of thin air.
Logan roared and brought the weapon down.
Booooom!
The impact shook the battlefield. Stone shattered, the earth caved in, dust exploded into clouds. The monster's feet sank into a crater, its shield barely holding.
Across the field, four hulking minotaurs shrieked and charged toward Logan, their eyes burning with bloodlust.
But their march was interrupted. Ali had dashed toward them and threw a huge fireball. It exploded with a loud bang.
Ali tilted his head and looked toward Noah. "I think Logan can take care of that thing. I will deal with these four. You go and help Gideon's party in dealing with the wyvern. Or else, all of them will die."
Noah nodded and quickly shot toward the wyvern.
Elsewhere, the battlefield was chaos. Goblins screeched, dire wolves lunged, minotaurs and orcs swung clubs in a frenzy. Hunters clashed with them in bloody desperation. Bodies fell on both sides, yet healers worked tirelessly, dragging the injured back from near-death situations. With Emily herself among them, hope flickered, hunters slowly pushing the tide of monsters back.
But near the dungeon's boss… the battle was far from hopeful.
Ronald spat curses as he spun his spear, sweat streaming down his face. "What the fuck is this thing's hide made of? Steel?! I've stabbed it a hundred times and it still looks fresh!"
The wyvern towered before them, its scales cracked but unbroken, its eyes glowing with sinister flame.
The others shared the same frustration. Only Jessi kept her calm. Though her attacks weren't that overwhelming, they were still inflicting damage. It's just that, her spells weren't that powerful. That was the only shortcoming.
Even Gideon, who was the strongest in the party, failed to inflict damage like her.
And then, Noah joined in the fray against the boss as well.
He had already seen everyone's attack pattern and what affinity they were using. And based on that, he had formulated a plan as well. After seeing Logan's magic layering, he knew exactly where the wyvern's weakness lay.
"You there, I believe your name is Jessi. You come with me. Gideon, make sure you and your party are keeping the wyvern busy.
Gideon nodded and quickly sprang into action. His other party members didn't need any detailed briefing either. Their hands sparkled and spell attacks flew toward the boss one after another and slammed on it.
The boss was enraged. It beat its wings once more, ready to release a hellish breath, but just then, Noah and Jessi's turn came.
Jessi's hand waved, and a huge ice blade materialized in the air. With a flick, she hurled it forward. Noah reacted instantly.
With one hand, he manipulated gravity, trying to hold the boss in position, so that it couldn't move much, and with another, he waved. And air magic enveloped the ice blade, increasing its speed so much that it literally pierced through the air and shot toward the wyvern. The air rippled like the tide in a silent river.
The boss somehow broke free from Noah's gravity at the last moment but wasn't lucky enough to deflect the incoming blade.
Squelch!
The blade tore through scale and flesh, embedding deep before shattering in a spray of frost.
The wyvern howled, thrashing violently.
Jessi's eyes lit up. "Finally."
"Don't be so happy yet. It's nothing in front of that freak. If we really want to bring it down for good, then we need something more devastating. Or else at least a barrage of that last attack." Noah quickly corrected her.
Noah, with Gideon's party, engaged the boss in a tight battle.
On the other hand, Ali's spells were like doom breaking on earth. Each of his fireballs was like heavenly destruction, a rampage on the ground. The four minotaurs were strong. But Ali still overwhelmed them. He was in a hurry. Hurry to quickly pack it up and then help Logan fight the human-faced monster.
But his heart was thudding very fast.
He spared a glance toward Logan.
"What a freak of nature! Does he even need any help?"
Bam! Bam! Whosssh! Thud!
Logan's punches looked devastating, filled with fury, burning with rage. He looked as if he were possessed.
With each punch, the creature's chest caved in, with each slash its skin split open, spilling blood.
The monster fought back with everything it had—strength, speed, cunning—but Logan smothered it at every turn. It couldn't outrun him. It couldn't overpower him. Desperation twisted its face.
And then, with a guttural roar, its chest bulged. Veins pulsed black across its skin.
Five glowing spheres bubbled out of its chest, shimmering with sinister energy.
One shot toward the wyvern. Four streaked into the sky, homing toward the minotaurs fighting Ali.
Ali's eyes widened. "What the hell?!"
The spheres slipped into their targets like leeches burrowing into flesh.
The wyvern shrieked. The minotaurs convulsed, clutching their chests.
Hunters across the battlefield froze, staring in horror.
And then....
Thud.
A heartbeat. Loud. Vile.
Thud. Thud.
It continued, pounding like war drums, shaking the air itself.
The wyvern's body shuddered. The minotaurs howled, their eyes blazing crimson. Flesh tore, muscles swelled, bones cracked.
And all five began to grow.
