Chapter 217: DANGER ALERT
A whirlpool of thoughts stormed inside Logan's mind. He was utterly at a loss for words. From the moment he was reborn, one revelation after another had shaken him. But not to the level of today's one.
The magic of today's era was solely relying on something that wasn't even real. The monsters humans were hunting were human to begin with. And real monsters were not even from Earth. And then there were these experiments and everything about turning the earth into a soul seed. Nothing made sense.
His rationality was almost on the verge of collapse. As if he might go crazy at any moment.
His eyes were still locked on Nolan.
Finally after a while, with all his effort, his mind calmed a bit.
"What do you mean by it's just an imitation. And the monster inside that S-class dungeon can use magic but we can't. And even if it's an imitation, then why would they even let us use it if all they were after were the cultivation methods? Wouldn't it be easier to just capture us when we weren't even able to use magic?" Logan asked a lot of questions in one breath. He was in a hurry. Hurry to know what was actually happening.
"Master the..." Nolan was about to say but just then his eyes turned black again. The monstrous existence was in control again. And the moment its senses came back and its eyes fell on Logan standing just ahead of him, only a hair's breadth away.
It shrieked back in fear. "Get away from me you freak. Go, go away. Or else I will eat you alive." Considering Logan a kid, the creature tried to intimidate him while still shaking in fear.
And what welcomed it was a merciless kick.
Bang! Its body slammed into the wall, caving it in. Spiderweb-like cracks spread instantly across the surface.
"Get lost, you filthy creature. And bring Nolan back." Logan roared.
"Who the fuck is this Nolan you're babbling about from the get-go?" The creature almost cried out. On one hand, it was being beaten to a pulp without even a hint of mercy, on the other hand the merciless freak was asking something, it didn't even have a faintest idea about.
But hearing its tantrum, Logan was enraged even more.
His palm glowed again, humming with a destructive tone. And the combo sphere that had vanished moments ago, materialized again.
Feeling the pressure it was emanating, the creature's soul almost left its body before it could even embrace death.
Logan arced his hand back in a threatening way as if indirectly telling, It's your last chance.
The sphere started to hum even more vibrantly. The ground started trembling, kicking up dust. The small stones in it started vibrating.
The creature could feel it. Just one motion of Logan's hand, and it will be doomed.
It tried desperately to find a way out, some method to survive Logan's grasp and escape this place. But no idea came to mind. No path opened before it.
In its desperation, it clawed at the ground, flinging dust toward Logan's face before suddenly darting forward in a reckless attempt to flee.
But Logan's left wrist twisted slightly. A compressed air bomb burst forth from his palm, shooting straight at the creature.
Boom!
With a sharp blast, the creature was knocked off balance and slammed into the ground again—face-first.
Logan slowly walked toward it. Then with a light push from his leg, he nudged its body straight. He pressed his leg against its chest. "I am giving you one last chance. Get lost already. Or else...." He didn't finish his words but the meaning was clear.
Just when the creature was about to talk, the space in the distance started to distort. And soon a rift started to appear out of thin air.
Logan's senses screamed danger. The rift wasn't even fully open but already a malicious aura had enveloped the whole area.
Beneath his foot, the monster's eyes lit up. "Yes! Master has arrived. Though I failed today's mission, I am sure he won't at least kill me for it. Master... Come fast. Save me from this lunatic child." Its heart screamed in pleading.
But before it could even savour the joy of its master's arrival, Logan picked it up, grabbing the throat tightly.
"Do that magic of yours and take us away from here. Right now." He lashed out.
"Wha... What are you talking abo..." It wanted to stall for time but a sharp ice spike extended from Logan's left hand's index finger and pierced its head instantly.
Its body jerked in pain.
"If you listen to me, I will let you live. If not, I will make sure you die a gruesome death, even if I have to follow you to the same destination right after. Make your choice. Quick." Logan was desperate to leave the place right then. Because he knew it. The thing that was coming, it wasn't just strong. It was terrifying.
The creature hesitated. But another ice spike from Logan's middle finger extended and pierced its head skin. Another flood of pain surged through its whole body.
"Stop I will do it." Its hands moved and a sphere came out. It started swirling its right hand and another rift started to materialize.
The earlier one was already complete. And a silhouette could be seen. Though the rift was already the size of a grown man, only a portion of the intruder's body could be seen through that rift.
Seeing the situation, Logan put more pressure on the creature's neck. "Faster."
"Yes.. yes.. it's almost done." Right after it finished talking, a fully materialized rift could be seen. Due to its smaller size, it was completed early.
Logan didn't waste a breath. He dashed and jumped inside the rift dragging the monster along with him. The rift closed behind him with a phuffh.
And right after it, the earlier rift was also completed. A huge monster stepped inside through that rift. Even its look and size were enough to intimidate someone to death.
"That stupid was surely here. But he ran off. Is he helping the enemies now?" Its raspy voice rang out.
