Restart, Spider-Man!

Chapter 258: Restart, Spider-Man! [258]

Under the radio tower, Xia Luo's body trembled, and the magical spider silk binding him shimmered faintly.

He couldn't break free.

The Supreme Spider-Man's magical spider silk was far tougher than the webs of ordinary Spider-Men. Startled, Xia Luo shot a beam of high-temperature spider rays, and only then did the magical silk melt away under the intense heat.

Surveying his surroundings, Xia Luo saw a dense swarm of Spider-Men swinging between skyscrapers, all heading toward the central hospital.

All along the way, the cries of astonished citizens echoed in waves.

"Good heavens! So many Spider-Men!"

"What the heck is going on?"

"Did Peter Parker just split himself into a hundred pieces?"

Due to the Sokovia Accords, the Peter Parker of this world had been forced to reveal his identity. Now everyone knew Spider-Man was Peter Parker.

This was also one of the reasons why Peter's enemies had targeted him, leading to Aunt May being caught in the crossfire.

And these Spider-Men were all Peter Parkers, too.

"Peter!"

A male student by the roadside waved cheerfully. Nearby, several Spider-Men instinctively turned to look at him.

"Are you calling me?"

"Oh, I'm Peter Parker. You're Peter Parker. So he must also be Peter Parker."

"No, I'm Ben Parker."

"Uncle Ben!"

"Shut up! Don't blow my cover in a situation like this. Let them think I'm Peter Parker. That's enough."

"Such a sly move, Uncle Ben."

As more and more Spider-Men emerged, the scene grew increasingly chaotic.

But their goal remained the same:

Find Aunt May and save her.

Bzzz~

In the sky, a magical spark circle appeared silently. A red-and-blue figure, ensnared in magical spider silk, crashed diagonally against the glass facade of a high-rise.

Zzzzt~

Crack!

Sparks flew as Xia Luo's body scraped against the wall. The magical spider silk binding him was severed once again by a crimson beam.

Standing against the vertical wall as if it were solid ground, Xia Luo's pale blue eyes flickered incessantly.

Just now, he had tried to open a portal again, only to fail.

Bzzz~

With a wave of his hand, a red-and-blue magical portal formed, only to be blocked by a magical spider web.

"What kind of spell is this?"

Reaching out, Xia Luo tried to tear the spider web in the portal, only to find his hand passing effortlessly through it, unable to grasp it.

"Huh?"

He stepped into the portal, only to feel a repelling force pushing him back.

The force wasn't strong. Xia Luo pressed forward slightly and forced his way into the portal.

Crack~

The instant he entered, the magical sparks shattered, and Xia Luo still couldn't teleport to the central hospital.

His expression shifted subtly upon realizing this.

The Supreme Spider-Man's mastery of magic seemed far superior to his own.

Was this guy's magical power also derived from the Spider Totem?

It felt overly targeted at him.

Lost in thought for a moment, Xia Luo glanced toward the direction of the central hospital and summoned his lightning-powered Spider-bots.

Zzzzt~

Lightning crackled around him, and in an instant, Xia Luo vanished from the skyscraper's glass wall.

Above the streets, a streak of lightning zipped past, whipping up gusts of wind that lifted the skirts of girls below, eliciting shrieks of astonishment.

Beep-beep~

Suddenly, a car alarm blared. A muscle-bound red-and-blue figure had grabbed a small car and lifted it into the air.

"Stop Xia Luo Parker, or we won't stand a chance!" Muscle Spider-Man shouted, hurling the car toward Xia Luo.

Zzzt!

The lightning dissipated. Xia Luo caught the car with one hand and gently set it down before transforming back into a streak of lightning, zipping past Muscle Spider-Man without a word.

Moving at high speed, the scenery around him blurred into neon streaks.

But the ominous feeling in Xia Luo's heart grew stronger.

These Spider-Men seemed to be participating in the Resurrection Tournament for the first time.

Yet based on Muscle Spider-Man's comment, they seemed to have heard stories about Xia Luo before.

If more Spider-Men knew about this, the consequences could be catastrophic.

Sure enough, Xia Luo's fears were confirmed.

Shoo-shoo-shoo~

Suddenly, a barrage of webs rained down from above. The nearby Spider-Men, upon spotting the streak of lightning, didn't hesitate to act.

"Stop him! He's Xia Luo Parker!"

"We can't let him get ahead of us!"

In an instant, the surrounding space was sealed off by a dense webbing too thick to evade.

Zzzzt~

A flash of crimson light shot out, and Xia Luo broke free from the encirclement of webs, shooting skyward in a surge of lightning.

"Stop him!!"

In midair, one red-and-blue figure after another dove from skyscrapers, gliding with webbed wings, sending another wave of webs crashing down.

"Get out of my way!"

Xia Luo roared, a crimson ray slicing through the air. The surrounding webs melted under the heat, and red-and-blue magical energy erupted.

Boom!!

With a thunderous explosion, the Spider-Men in midair tumbled helplessly onto the streets below.

"We can't let him through! Everyone, attack together!!"

For some reason, the Supreme Spider-Man, who had already left through a portal, reappeared.

His red cape billowed in the wind as he hovered in midair. Forming intricate hand seals, he unleashed an enormous magical spider web that blanketed the sky.

Bzzz~

As the magical web descended, Spider-Man after Spider-Man swung up to grab its edges, working together to trap Xia Luo within it.

"This is way too obvious a setup against me!!"

Xia Luo cursed loudly, raising his hand to fire another crimson ray.

But before the beam could shoot out, his Spider-Sense screamed a warning.

"What?!"

Xia Luo's heart sank as he felt a sudden force lock his wrists in place.

"I've got him!"

Two voices rang out simultaneously, and two barely visible figures clung tightly to Xia Luo's wrists.

Invisible Spider-Men?

And there were two of them?

Xia Luo's pale blue eyes flared brightly, and with a burst of strength, he flung the two invisible Spider-Men away.

Just as he prepared to break through the encirclement, the previously clear sky suddenly darkened. Thunderclouds gathered, and lightning roared.

Zzzzt~

Boom!!

A bolt of lightning struck Xia Luo squarely, paralyzing him momentarily with its searing voltage.

"Huh?"

Amidst the rising smoke, Xia Luo glanced upward and saw a red-and-blue figure plummeting toward him, wielding none other than Mjolnir.

"You've got to be kidding me."

His triangular spider eyes widened in disbelief before the hammer, cloaked in crackling electricity, slammed into him with devastating force.

"Boom!"

The impact sent shockwaves through the surrounding buildings. Rubble rained down as Spider-Men darted about, rescuing bystanders and moving them to safety.

In the middle of the street, amidst a massive crater, the dust began to settle.

Standing in the superhero's iconic half-kneel pose was the Thor-Spider-Man, electricity coursing across his body, radiating an awe-inspiring aura.

"Whoa! It's Thor-yer!"

"No, he's Peter Parker—the Peter Parker who inherited the power of Thor!"

"That's insane!"

The surrounding Spider-Men gasped in awe.

Amidst their admiring gazes, the Thor-Spider-Man rose triumphantly, hoisting Mjolnir into the air.

"Bring me some Brazilian ladies!!"

But before the cheers could spread, a shout rang out nearby.

"Look out!"

"What—?"

Before the Thor-Spider-Man could react, a hand clapped onto his shoulder.

"Hey there. You've got Thor's power, but it seems your Spider-Sense has gone a bit rusty."

"You—"

Thor-Spider-Man spun around, shocked to see Xia Luo standing behind him.

Before he could act, another voice shouted from behind him.

"Watch your back!"

Crack!

A tremendous force struck Thor-Spider-Man's left leg, driving him to one knee.

"Damn it!"

Thor-Spider-Man glared at Xia Luo, raising Mjolnir. But before he could swing, Xia Luo's left hook smashed into his face.

"Blagh—"

The punch sent spittle flying as Thor-Spider-Man staggered.

He tried to counter, but behind him, another Xia Luo—identical in every way—leapt up and slammed an open palm onto his head.

"No—"

Boom!!

Thud, thud, thud!

Under the relentless assault of the two Xia Luo duplicates, Thor-Spider-Man was soon forced to retreat, clutching his head in dismay.

"Magic clones!"

Up above, the Supreme Spider-Man, who had been observing the battlefield, couldn't hide his astonishment.

Bzzz~

Without hesitation, he opened a portal.

On the other side, however, there was no one, leaving Supreme Spider-Man bewildered.

"Where is he?"

He could sense Xia Luo's presence but couldn't spot him anywhere.

Could he have turned invisible?

No, not invisibility!

There!

The Supreme Spider-Man's eyes gleamed as he zoomed in on the portal's view.

Amidst the rubble, a red-and-blue figure was being carried into the ground by a swarm of ants.

In the micro-world, Ant-Man Spider-Man directed his army of ants to swarm over Xia Luo's body, repeatedly crashing into him.

Boom!

Thud, thud, thud!

Magical energy burst forth, and crimson rays swept across the area, incinerating swathes of the "giant" ants.

Bzzz~

Boom!

In the next instant, Xia Luo enlarged himself, towering into a colossal form. With one massive stomp, he obliterated Ant-Man Spider-Man.

"Peter Parkers! Our mission is to save Aunt May, not waste time here!"

Returning to his normal size, Xia Luo shouted at the surrounding Spider-Men.

But despite exchanging glances, they tightened their formation and encircled him once more.

"Xia Luo Parker," the Supreme Spider-Man declared as he descended, pointing at him, "as long as you're here, no matter what we do, we'll never win this tournament."

"Sorry, but we have to eliminate you first. It's the only way this will be fair to us."

"Agreed."

The other Spider-Men nodded, their gazes resolute.

"You can't keep winning."

"We need Aunt May too."

"Removing the most unpredictable factor is the only way for fairness to prevail."

"If we don't stop you, we have no chance at all."

"As long as you're gone, we might finally win this tournament."

"You've won enough already!!"

Hearing this, Xia Luo felt his heart sink lower and lower.

"How do you all know this?" he asked.

The Supreme Spider-Man wove a magical web and replied, "We're not telling you. The more we explain, the lower our chances of winning."

"Everyone, attack! For Aunt May!!"

"Charge!"

In an instant, red-and-blue figures swung into action, while Xia Luo adjusted his wrist device.

"You're right. For Aunt May!"

Bzzz~

Boom!!

Xia Luo's body expanded rapidly, transforming into a towering giant. At a thousand meters tall, his colossal foot came crashing down, crushing red-and-blue figures into dust.

Boom!!

"Ughhh~"

"I'm gonna die..."

Amidst the wails and screams, the giant foot of Xia Luo sank deep into the street, rupturing underground pipes and sending streams of water gushing into the air.

Splashhh~

Torrential rain poured down as the Supreme Spider-Man darted through the downpour. With his hands weaving intricate seals, he unleashed endless magical spider webs, binding the massive spider giant.

Creak~

Xia Luo waved his arm, summoning a fierce gust of wind. The dense magical spider webs constricting his body snapped taut and then broke apart.

Bzzz~

Before he could fully escape the restraints, flickering lights heralded a wave of colossal ants swarming toward him.

Behind the ant army, another spider giant—hundreds of meters tall—controlled the charge, giving Xia Luo no room to breathe.

"Sorry, Aunt May is all I have left!"

The Ant-Man Spider-Man shouted as he rode atop a giant flying ant, hurtling resolutely toward Xia Luo.

Boom!!

The flying ant rammed into him. While Xia Luo slapped away ants crawling all over him, he raised his other hand to unleash a crimson beam. But just as he was about to fire, the glands on his wrist were clogged by fearless, self-sacrificing ants.

Boom!

A fiery explosion erupted from his wrist. Xia Luo stumbled back a few steps, shrinking rapidly amidst flickering light.

Being gigantic amplified his strength, but the drawbacks were equally apparent.

Especially against magical opponents, raw power alone wasn't enough to pose a threat.

Returning to his normal size, Xia Luo swung agilely through the giant ant army, deftly dodging their snapping mandibles.

Bzzz~

With a flurry of hand seals, a massive spider totem spread out, engulfing the area.

Summon!

Spider-Man!

Phantoms of a cityscape shimmered into view, and a striking red figure began to take form within it.

"What?"

The Supreme Spider-Man's expression shifted. Without hesitation, he unleashed a magical spell, aiming to disrupt the bizarre summoning ritual.

Bzzz~

A second spider totem appeared at the Supreme Spider-Man's feet, expanding outward. The near-solidified figure in the phantom city flickered erratically.

Just as the illusionary city was about to collapse, the red silhouette darted toward Xia Luo.

She extended her hand through the phantasm, and without hesitation, Xia Luo reached out and grasped hers.

At that moment, the threads of fate connected them.

Their eyes met.

"Xia Luo?"

"Mary Jane?"

The familiar face before him stunned Xia Luo for a moment. Then, he firmly pulled her out of the phantom city.

At last, Mary Jane, clad in a sleek red suit, materialized fully and collapsed onto Xia Luo's shoulder.

"I knew you'd come for me," Mary Jane whispered softly.

Xia Luo, however, scowled. "Take a good look around. Do you know where you are?"

"This is..."

Mary Jane's eyes darted to the massive ants surrounding them, and her face turned pale.

"Ahh! Such huge ants—I'm terrified!" She leapt onto Xia Luo, clinging to him like an octopus.

Xia Luo's eye twitched. "If you don't get down, I'm sending you back."

"No!"

Mary Jane hopped off him, composing herself. She then declared seriously, "Don't worry. I'm not the same as before—"

Before she could finish, a giant ant lunged at them, forcing the two to scatter.

"—not the same Mary Jane as before."

As she finished her sentence, the red suit she wore began to glow ominously, emitting a peculiar energy that spread across the battlefield.

Creak~

Everywhere the red energy touched, the giant ants halted their attacks and slowly crouched, seemingly falling into a deep slumber.

"Knew it was her," Xia Luo muttered, shaking his head as a familiar drowsiness washed over him.

He staggered, fighting the urge to sleep. Just before he succumbed, he caught a glimpse of Mary Jane, also looking groggy. His heart sank.

Good news: Mary Jane had gained the ability to control dreams.

Bad news: She had no mastery over this power.

If he fell asleep, the other Spider-Men would seize their chance.

Which meant, once again, he was probably going to die because of a woman.
