Chapter 169: Make Gu Yue Village Great Again: Part Nine
'Sometime during the fight, this Thousand Li Earthwolf Spider was affected by Blood Frenzy Gu and then sealed itself as a way of maintaining its sanity.'
However, this did not line up with what Fang Yuan knew about the Flower Wine Monk's fight with the fourth generation clan head.
If he had been so badly injured by the fourth generation Clan head and was able to use the Thousand Li Earthwolf Spider afterward, why would he not just run away instead of diving straight into a fight with the first generation Ancestor?
The Blood River Graveyard was so large that it was unlikely that he would have burrowed into it without knowing where he was going and had been unable to turn back before being assaulted. Come to think of it, there were a few wounds Fang Yuan thought he saw in the Audio-Visual Gu when the Flower Wine Monk had shown himself near death which had not been present during the Flower Wine Monk's fight with the fourth generation Clan Head.
It seemed that he had acquired those wounds through fighting first gen Gu Yue.
That Audio-Visual Gu had already been destroyed, so Fang Yuan did not know if there was anything further that he could learn from it. 'Perhaps if I tried burrowing around the area where I had found the Flower Wine Monk's inheritance, I would find more clues,' he thought to himself.
He shook his head and put this aside for the moment. Although he would dig further into this matter- both metaphorically and literally, there were more pressing issues at hand.
He walked up towards the entrance to the underground cavern- despite their shortage of manpower, this location was even more fiercely guarded than earlier. If the Bai or Xiong clans intended to strike out at them in a desperate attempt to weaken them, this was the spot that was the most vulnerable. On top of which, with the Moon Orchid Petal shortage, there might even be people from the Gu Yue clan who would want to sneak in to snatch a flower or two.
"Lord clan head!" the guards said, saluting Fang Yuan as he descended down the steps.
The place had recovered to some extent and looked like it had back during his own Awakening Ceremony, however, there was something noticeable even to the casual observer. The rows of flowers that used to line the riverbed had thinned out to the point that they were as few as stars spaced out in the sky. A small block of ice no bigger than Fang Yuan's fist floated down the primeval spring, a relic of Bai Ning Bing's detonation.
Fang Yuan approached the other end of the bank. He removed the Moon and Stars Support Vine Gu from his aperture and contemplated on whether to use it or not.
While it was from Genesis Lotus Immortal Venerable - the greatest pioneer of the Wood Path to have ever lived, that also raised a doubt in his mind as to whether or not there was a trap hidden within this gu worm.
On the other hand, he had no way to verify whether that was true or not.
Ultimately, if this was a Venerable method, it wouldn't even matter who he asked, they would have no answer to him.
Judging things- Fang Yuan came to the conclusion that he could think of no reason that Genesis Lotus might want to sabotage him with this and then placed the vine down and began injecting his primeval essence into it.
It began burrowing into the soil, and the more primeval essence that Fang Yuan poured into it, the deeper it went and the more it spread, until its roots had nearly covered the entire surface of the soil where the Moon Orchids were planted.
Its roots began extending to the roots of the Moon Orchids themselves, and wherever it popped up above ground it began emitting a soft glow reminiscent of moonlight that formed the softest bit of contrast between it and the illumination provided by the primeval spring.
Fang Yuan did not notice anything immediately, but it was likely too much to expect something like that and he would only be able to see the result in the morning.
His aperture was nearly depleted at the primeval essence he had to expend, and the vine was ever so gradually becoming undone even as the light emitted began to taper, though it would last until tomorrow at least.
This was one of the few scenarios where multiple ordinary Gu Masters could make up for a very strong one- since this was not an emergent scenario this was perfect to put his other clansmen to the test depending on what result he got.
Fang Yuan then descended deeper underground where the Dollhouse was kept. No one other than the elders knew about its existence here. But only Fang Yuan knew the full extent of what was inside.
He knocked on the door as a courtesy before opening it. The inside of the Dollhouse was the same as ever, as his will approached him and then entered his mind, sharing what it had learned in the meanwhile.
Fang Yuan had a greater understanding of the house now, and he wandered towards one of the corners.
He had been contemplating on how to possibly upgrade the Gu House in the future- and his attainment in the Human Path led him to believe that one could place a Rank 6 Immortal Gu here in the future to convert this back into an Immortal Gu House.
He already had a gu worm in mind for that - Beauty Gu once he had obtained it, though he would still need to alter the positions of about a hundred gu worms before seeing if it could truly work.
With that done, he wandered over to a room and knocked on the door. "It's me!"
"Come in..." came a tired voice.
Bai Ning Bing had become a shut-in after his transformation. While she was not ashamed of what had happened, at least, Fang Yuan did not interpret it that way, she still had her earlier pride as a Bai clansmen. More likely than not, she did not want her former clansmen to see her in this state.
That was why he spent his time here, with the Bai clan assuming that he was deceased.
Given enough time, Bai Ning Bing would likely want to go back outside, though more likely than not under a different name until he could turn back into a man.
Bai Ning Bing lazily turned an eye towards Fang Yuan. Although Fang Yuan had a tight control over Bai Ning Bing, there was not that much for Bai Ning Bing to do currently. If she had agreed to lead the Bai clansmen, he could've used her as a pawn to bring them under the Gu Yue clan.
However, currently he was at a point where his strength made her help almost entirely unnecessary. Secondly, he did not really need the Bai clan's fealty for any reason.
There was also the fact that the House Spirit still acknowledged her as the owner of the house. Though Fang Yuan's will had refined all the gu worms for him, the House Spirit could still self-detonate if Bai Ning Bing so ordained. That would be a massive loss for the two of them as most of the gu worms in the house would be lost, and so it also meant that there was a limit to how much Fang Yuan could push her to do things.
"What's going on?" Bai Ning Bing asked, assuming that Fang Yuan wasn't here for tea and biscuits. Fang Yuan rarely dropped by as it was as his will already studied the house for him in his absence, and he was really busy with his duties as clan head.
Fang Yuan indeed had come here for a very specific purpose.
"Get ready. The two of us are going to dual cultivate now."
