Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse

Chapter 207: Back to the Supermarket

"Let's go." Leng Pan was aware of these people's thoughts but she didn't think there was anything wrong with such a mentality.

They wanted to gain benefits from her and her husband, but they wouldn't be benefiting for free. They would also offer their help when needed and that's all that mattered to her.

They all got back into the truck and Lu Zhen became the driver again. As they drove through the alleys, Leng Pan thought that the people at the back probably didn't have any staple food at home.

Hence, she decided to pass by the mall they had taken supplies from before. She wondered whether the people squatting in the supermarket had left yet.

Thus, she asked Lu Zhen to pass by the mall so that they could take some supplies.

Lu Zhen didn't argue and changed the route to head towards the mall.

"Do we need more supplies at home?" He asked.

"It doesn't hurt to have more supplies. Last time we were at the supermarket we didn't check the warehouse.

I don't believe that such a huge supermarket doesn't have a warehouse. Let's go and take a look." Leng Pan was looking forward to the harvest they would have that day.

She wanted to add more supplies in her space. There were still many supplies available in various places, but she knew that some time later, maybe even finding a packet of noodles would be a miracle.

"Okay then. Let's go take a look." Lu Zhen agreed and as they talked the truck pulled up near the door of the mall.

Juan Ke and the others at the back didn't understand why they had taken a detour, but they weren't worried that they would do something to them.

When the truck came to a stop, Leng Pan covered it with purification mist like always. She then got out of the truck and Lu Zhen got out from the other side.

Leng Pan went to the back and had the others alight as well. Even though the last time they were there they had killed a lot of zombies, there was still a large number of zombies at that moment.

Since they had already had a brutal battle earlier that day, Leng Pan had no desire to fight again. So, she spread the purification mist around an area of fifty meters from the entrance of the mall and all the zombies within that area were eliminated.

She then proceeded with the others to enter the mall and went straight to the supermarket.

"There's a supermarket here. Take what you need and load it into the truck. You won't be able to survive on meat alone." She advised as they got to the floor where the supermarket was located.

"That's great. I don't have any rice and sugar at home. I only have a little flour and some noodles. This is really going to help a lot." Janna exclaimed in excitement when she heard that she could carry as much supplies as she wanted.

This was like having a pillow delivered when she wanted to sleep. She hoped that she could become a regular partner of Leng Pan because it seemed that her life would become even better.

When Lu Zhen pushed open the supermarket door, he was surprised to find only about forty people instead of the previous fifty-two.

He looked around and found that the remaining people weren't as high spirited as before. They looked like they had gone through an ordeal.

However, he wasn't interested in finding out what had happened. Thus, he went straight to the place where the shopping carts were placed and took two, one for himself and the other for his wife.

The others seeing people inside the supermarket were surprised, but when they saw how those people looked at Lu Zhen and Leng Pan in fear, they concluded that they must have some history and didn't ask about it.

After all, they were practically freeloaders and had no right to ask questions about their benefactor.

The survivors inside the supermarket looked at Leng Pan in a pleading manner but she pretended not to see them. She still remembered the last time how they had tried to stop her husband and brother-in-law from taking supplies, even resorting to violence.

At this moment, they were looking at her like that because they thought that she was a woman and would be soft-hearted, thus, she will feel pity for them and help.

However, they had already crossed her bottom line the last time she was there and wanted nothing to do with them.

Janna and the others could also tell that these people were begging for help, but they were in no place to help them let alone persuade Leng Pan.

Janna, being young and naive, was about to ask Leng Pan to help them when she was grabbed by the other woman in the group.

She shook her head at her to indicate to her that she shouldn't get involved.

They didn't know what had happened between the two parties and it was better to stay away from such conflict.

While Juan Ke and the others started to fill their carts, Lu Zhen led Leng Pan towards the back where he believed the warehouse was.

Even though he hadn't visited this mall many times, he still knew the rough layout. After all, it belonged to the Lu Group.

As they reached the door that led to the warehouse, the forty plus people in the mall stood up as if a switch had been flipped.

"Don't open it." They shouted almost in unison.

Leng Pan and Lu Zhen turned to look at them and saw the faces of all the survivors filled with wariness, fear, and pain.

The two didn't understand what was going on, but they assumed that it must have something to do with the dispirited mood of everyone and the reduction of their number.

"Are there zombies in here?" Leng Pan asked.
