Chapter 11
Lumiel slowly looked around the hotel interior.
True to its name 'Sleeping Tree Hotel', the interior was filled with a warm wood scent.
The walls and pillars were all made of solid wood, and candles and lanterns cast a soft light, illuminating the space cozily.
The unique gloominess of the underground village wasn't felt here at all.
The hotel interior was more cozy and neat than expected.
The floor was cleanly polished, and small potted plants placed here and there breathed life into the space.
As Lumiel approached the counter, a middle-aged man with a round belly greeted her cheerfully.
[Lv. 30 Bart]
"Oh, a new guest! Welcome!"
He greeted with an energetic voice and took out two keys from the shelf, placing them on the table.
"Are you here to get a room? We have two types of rooms in our hotel."
He explained while holding up one key.
"This is the key to a regular room. You can use it for just 500 gold. It's clean and has basic facilities."
Then, Bart held up a key with a slightly thicker decoration.
"And this is for the luxury room. 1000 gold. It's larger than the regular room, with a soft bed and a bathtub with warm water. Plus..."
He added with a playful smile.
"The luxury room is for special guests, you could say. It's worth trying at least once."
Lumiel pondered for a moment.
Although the price difference was double compared to the regular room, the luxury room was worth it.
First, its effect was far superior to the regular room.
Basically, when you rest using a chair item, HP and MP recover slowly, but staying in a regular room doubles that effect, and in a luxury room, the recovery speed doubles again.
Moreover, if you stay in the luxury room for more than 10 minutes, there's even a fatigue reduction effect, making it quite useful for players exploring dungeons for a long time.
And, the most important point.
Choosing the luxury room opens up a hidden quest that can only be done inside the room.
This quest was a hidden element that only activates when certain conditions are met, and the rewards were quite good.
Lumiel reached out and picked up the key.
"I'll take the luxury room."
"Hoho, good choice."
Bart nodded with a pleased face and counted the gold with his large hands.
Lumiel curiously watched Bart counting the money.
It was the same as at the food cart earlier, and now too.
Even though she hadn't particularly taken gold out of her inventory and handed it over, the payment was already completed.
She hadn't paid much attention until now, but thinking about it, it was quite strange.
Originally, when playing the game, to use gold, you had to open the shop UI directly and select it.
But now there was no such process at all.
She had just said "I'll take the luxury room," and gold was taken from her inventory and Bart was counting it with his own hands.
Lumiel pondered for a moment, but it was difficult to reach a conclusion.
After counting the gold, Bart nodded satisfactorily and said,
"1000 gold, received for sure. Here's the key. You'll see it right away when you go up to the 2nd floor."
Lumiel took the key.
A small key made of metal. '2F-01' was engraved on its surface.
"Rest well, adventurer."
"Yes, thank you."
Lumiel answered briefly, then moved towards the stairs.
The stairs leading to the 2nd floor were made of old wood, creaking with each step.
As she slowly climbed up along the handrail, a long corridor appeared.
The hotel corridor created a cozy atmosphere. Frames hanging here and there contained pictures of what looked like past adventurers, and faint moonlight seeped in through the windows.
Lumiel slowly walked down the corridor, glancing at the frames hanging on both sides.
The frames contained portraits of individuals who were clearly powerful beings at a glance.
A warrior with intense eyes, a magician with long flowing robes, an archer carrying a large bow, a paladin holding a solid shield.
They all maintained their dignity even within the old frames.
'...These pictures.'
Lumiel looked at the wall.
The appearances of the people in the pictures were familiar.
Memories of the past surfaced in Lumiel's mind.
These weren't just simple warriors or magicians.
They were legendary beings called the strongest of each era.
And they were the individuals who created the most important event in this game's world view.
The final boss of this game wasn't simply an entity that could be defeated like the villains in typical RPGs.
It was impossible to 'eliminate' him, and the only solution was 'sealing'.
And it was these individuals in the frames who performed that sealing.
It was the core of the main quest and an event frequently mentioned in the early stages.
But as it was a past that players couldn't directly experience, it could only be fragmentarily confirmed through books or records.
Lumiel quietly ran her hand over the frame.
An antique wooden frame, a faintly faded picture.
It felt as if it had spent time here for many years, watching over adventurers.
Lumiel quietly reached out and looked at the bottom of the frame.
Below the old wooden frame, faintly engraved letters caught her eye.
[The end of humans, the end of growth.]
[Heroes who reached level 200.]
Lumiel lightly shrugged her shoulders and moved on.
The room was right ahead.
When she inserted the key into the doorknob and turned it, the door opened smoothly.
A thick carpet on the floor, warm lighting from soft candles, and a large bed in the center of the room came into view.
On top of it was fluffy white bedding, and on one wall was even a softly glowing fireplace.
It felt more like entering a room in an old noble mansion than a hotel.
Lumiel entered the room and lightly stretched her body.
This place, where warm air gently enveloped her, was completely different from the cool atmosphere unique to the underground village.
A soft herbal scent could be sensed from somewhere, and the plush mattress of the bed looked comfortable at a glance.
Lumiel closed the door and opened her inventory.
[Inventory]
A brief window popped up, and various items Lumiel had collected so far were arranged before her eyes.
Among them, what Lumiel moved her finger to select was.
[Cozy Bath Robe]
'Equip.'
In an instant, her clothes lightly changed.
A soft sensation enveloping her body. A pleasant feeling of warm fabric brushing against her skin. This light but thermal clothing was originally only obtainable through a hidden quest that could be performed in this luxury room.
Lumiel lightly raised her arm.
The end of the sleeve hung down slightly loose, and thanks to the soft material wrapping her body, she felt a pleasant warmth seeping in with every movement.
When she first got this robe in the game before, she had considered it just a 'theme costume'.
But now that she could actually wear and feel it, the satisfaction was much greater.
However.
'This clothes, I could only get it once...'
Lumiel suddenly had such a thought.
This bath robe was a rare costume that could only be obtained through a hidden quest.
In other words, it was equipment that couldn't be acquired again once obtained.
But, a memory that suddenly came to mind.
'Lillian's quest could originally only be received once, but this time I could receive it again.'
Then, couldn't she try to perform that hidden quest again when morning comes?
Lumiel lightly rested her chin on her hand and pondered.
In the game, it was an item that absolutely couldn't be acquired multiple times, but this world now was operating a bit differently from the game.
Like Lillian's quest, events that should have ended as one-time could happen again.
If so, if she performs the quest again here tomorrow morning—
She might be able to get one more.
Lumiel's ahoge moved slightly.
As she slowly walked towards the bed, she decided to hold a little expectation, though it wasn't certain yet.
Then.
Tomorrow morning, she must definitely check.
She smiled lightly and entrusted her body to the soft bed.
"..."
Poof.
In an instant, her body sank deep into the fluffy bedding.
It was warm and soft.
Unlike the cold air of the underground village, this room was moderately warm, and the gentle heat from the fireplace pleasantly enveloped her whole body.
Fluffy fluffy.
The clothes were fluffy fluffy.
The bed was fluffy fluffy.
It felt like becoming the king of fluffiness.
Lumiel looked at the ceiling while rolling around a lot.
She felt her body sinking deep into the bed.
Lumiel's ahoge drew a gentle arc.
Lumiel tossed and turned on the bed.
Although her body was clearly tired, strangely, sleep wouldn't come easily.
Buried in the fluffy bedding, her mind kept turning. The events in the village, the hamburger at the food cart, memories from the Ant Hole, all the way to the underground village.
The events of the day kept endlessly coming to mind.
'How strange...'
Lumiel looked at the ceiling.
In such a nice room, with even a warm fireplace, why couldn't she fall asleep?
The bed was so fluffy her body sank into it, and the temperature was just right.
But when she closed her eyes, her mind was wide awake.
"...What is it."
Lumiel, lying on her side, lightly grasped the bedding with her hand.
The soft touch of the blanket was transmitted to her fingertips.
It was a pleasant sensation, but sleep still wouldn't come.
While tossing and turning, she unconsciously hugged the pillow.
Poof.
The fluffy sensation enveloping her arms.
It felt as if warmth was being transmitted.
At that moment her eyelids drooped down.
"...Ah."
Lumiel pulled the blanket and hugged the pillow a bit tighter.
She felt the cozy sensation enveloping her whole body.
After hugging it like that for a while...
Sruuk.
Her eyes closed.
And, taking a deep breath, Lumiel slowly.
Fell asleep.
