Chapter 6: Death of a Legend

Kevlon fell back onto his bed, and drifted off to sleep, still shocked by Rokada's mysterious appearance, yet too tired to think about it himself. When he awoke, he stood in an industrial warehouse room with a single door.

Curious, he walked through it. On the other side, there appeared to be a cathedral. Bells were tolling, and there were many people sitting, standing, and kneeling in the pews. Every single person was dressed in black.

He took a step forward, and without realizing, the door slammed shut behind him. Oddly, though, not a single head was turned at the sound. Kevlon walked a bit further down the aisle, and yet still nobody looked in his direction.

He got closer to one of the people, and realized that, despite the ringing bells, everything appeared to be frozen in time.

He walked further down the aisle, discovering that this was a funeral procession. Before him, there was a large casket. It was closed, so the body was invisible. Yet still, his curiosity got the better of him, and he approached the coffin. With all of his strength, he pulled the cover off of the top, and was shocked by the sight.

Before him, laying dead in a coffin, was the man who had just told him he need not be rescued, Rokada.

Kevlon stumbled backward, but there was a sudden, sharp pain in his core. It felt as if somebody had stabbed him. He tried to turn and see the culprit, but his vision was blurring. He fell to the ground as his eyes shut completely.

However, he soon woke once more, back in his bed at Hero Tower. He checked the time, reassuring himself by learning it had all just been a dream.

He slowly rose to his feet, heading over to make himself coffee in his room's kitchenette. He had clearly been sleeping for a while, as he was a disheveled mess.

As he waited for the coffee to brew, he sat down on his couch and turned on the local news. To his utter shock, a headline scrolled across the bottom of the screen.

It read, "Heroes Council member Rokada found dead."
