Chapter 287: Chapter 287 : Tsunade: Did you really write this, Orochimaru?
Yan had mentioned he was going to find Orochimaru, but Tsunade didn't have much hope.
Orochimaru was too good at hiding.
And bringing him back, convincing him to give up his rogue ninja status? That was nearly impossible.
Tsunade wanted Orochimaru to return, but she knew better than anyone how difficult it would be to change his ways.
Yet Yan had only been gone for a few days… and he actually brought Orochimaru back?
"I see. You can go now."
"Yes, ma'am."
After reporting, the Anbu swiftly left.
Tsunade sat back down, rubbed her face, and let out a bitter laugh.
"That kid really brought Orochimaru back… How the hell did he do it?"
Shizune blinked and reminded her,
"Hokage-sama, almost everything Yan says he's going to do… ends up happening."
"You're right."
Tsunade couldn't help but get up and walk over to the window, looking out at the street below.
Very soon, Yan would be walking down that street with Orochimaru.
Even though the Anbu had already reported it, she still felt uneasy and found it hard to believe.
She needed to see it with her own eyes.
"This kid is something else."
Before long, Yan and Orochimaru appeared on the street.
Yan walked ahead, with Orochimaru following behind him.
Yan was saying something to Orochimaru, who nodded with a blank expression.
"It's a shame Jiraiya's not here. If he knew Orochimaru was back, he'd be thrilled."
Outside the Hokage's office, Yan turned to Orochimaru.
"I'm serious. Try to at least act polite. Don't just walk in looking all cold and stiff."
"I'm just asking you to turn over a new leaf, not dragging you off to be skinned alive. Look at your face."
"...."
You've been saying this the whole way!!
The whole way!!!
Orochimaru really wanted to find something to sew Yan's mouth shut, but he didn't dare.
That was something he could only imagine.
If Yan found out, he'd definitely make a move and force him to shut up.
Take away his right to speak.
"We're here."
"Advisor."
The ninja on guard outside the Hokage's office saluted Yan, then shot a wary glance at Orochimaru.
Yan waved his hand, signaling them to relax.
Without saying anything, he led Orochimaru straight into the Hokage's office on the second floor.
"I honestly didn't think you'd make it this far."
As soon as Orochimaru stepped inside, Tsunade greeted him with a smirk.
"Life is unpredictable. Who knows what will happen tomorrow?"
Orochimaru smiled faintly, feeling much more at ease.
Being with Tsunade was a lot more relaxing than being alone with Yan.
At least Tsunade wouldn't keep threatening him.
"Here, this is his written apology. Have Shizune look it over and fix it up, then make it public.
As for him, just keep him under supervision outside of prison.
This guy is way too dangerous—who knows what he'd pull off if we locked him up? It's better if I keep an eye on him myself."
"An apology letter…?"
Are you two serious?
Tsunade took the scroll, staring at Orochimaru in disbelief.
This guy actually wrote an apology?
"...."
This is embarrassing.
Orochimaru tried to keep his eyes on the ceiling, avoiding Tsunade's gaze.
"*Ahem!*"
Tsunade glanced through the scroll and started coughing.
Before, she looked at Orochimaru in disbelief. Now, her expression had turned... odd.
Did you seriously write this, Orochimaru?
"...."
Orochimaru's smile slowly faded.
Standing beside Tsunade, Shizune lowered her head slightly.
She didn't even need to guess—she was definitely holding back laughter.
After all, Orochimaru's apology letter looked *very* familiar.
She had already seen the way Yan made Naruto write apologies.
Did Yan actually teach Orochimaru how to write this himself?
"Set up a lab for him. No need for a new one—didn't Root leave behind a ton of equipment?
Just pick some of it and let him make do.
First, get Kakashi's eye sorted out. Once the lab is ready, send Kakashi to him."
"I'm heading out."
With a wave, Yan left the Hokage's office.
As for Orochimaru, Tsunade would take care of it.
Besides, Orochimaru wouldn't try anything reckless.
Unless he had a death wish—or wanted to experience another round of judgment, making his soul injuries even worse.
Once Yan was gone, the atmosphere in the office loosened up a bit.
Tsunade tried to suppress a laugh, arms crossed as she studied Orochimaru.
Orochimaru relaxed a little.
"Never thought I'd come back to Konohagakure like this."
"Me neither."
Tsunade raised an eyebrow.
"How did he even find you?
When he left, he promised me he'd track you down and bring you back, but I didn't believe him.
You're great at hiding—most people wouldn't stand a chance at finding you."
"Let alone bringing you back.
Even if Sensei and Jiraiya went after you, I doubt they could convince you."
Orochimaru gave a faint smile and casually answered,
"I was in the middle of an experiment when he just showed up out of nowhere—super fast.
The moment I got an alert, my lab door was kicked open.
Then he walked in, told me to cooperate, and even offered me some experimental materials that interested me."
That's about it!
The craziest part? I actually wrote a self-reflection I'll never have to write again in my life.
"Pfft~~~"
It was obvious Orochimaru was still bitter about having to write it. But no matter how annoyed he was, he had to suck it up.
This time, Tsunade couldn't hold it in—she burst out laughing.
Shizune's shoulders twitched slightly. Neither of them could imagine how Yan had forced Orochimaru to write a self-reflection. That must have been a sight to see.
"Where's my lab?"
Orochimaru had no interest in catching up with Tsunade.
The way he came back was already embarrassing enough. Instead of standing here like a sideshow act for Tsunade, he'd rather get things sorted out quickly.
That way, he could start his research sooner.
"The lab will take a few days to set up. For now, I'll arrange a place for you to stay and then release the public statement along with your self-reflection.
We need to make sure the villagers forgive you first.
Yan was right—Danzo is already dead, so we can push a lot of things onto him. But…"
Tsunade's tone and expression suddenly turned serious.
"Orochimaru, I won't dwell on what happened in the past, but I don't want it to happen again.
I'm sure you understand what I mean. Maybe I can't do anything to you, but if you want Yan to hunt you down, go ahead and provoke him."
"A soul injury isn't something to take lightly, Tsunade."
Orochimaru didn't make any promises, but that one sentence was worth more than any guarantee.
Because he truly feared having his soul injured again.
And more importantly, he feared death.
As long as those two fears existed, Yan had Orochimaru completely under control.
Until Orochimaru could resist Yan's power, he would behave himself in Konohagakure and wouldn't cause any trouble.
Being controlled was one thing.
But what really got to Orochimaru was that Yan could find him so easily.
That alone was enough to keep him in check.
"I'll arrange a place for you to stay first. The old man should be back soon, and when he arrives, he'll probably have a lot to say to you."
Orochimaru didn't care.
He had already seen through the Third Hokage a long time ago, and he had no regrets.
