Sea of Unraveling Hours

Chapter 41: Linh’s Trial

Linh opened her eyes to a room that was both familiar and impossibly vast. It was her childhood study, lined with books and glowing screens, but the walls stretched away forever, vanishing into darkness. The only sound was the soft ticking of a clock—steady, relentless, echoing through the silence.

She moved to the desk, where countless blueprints and equations sprawled in every direction, each one unfinished. The knot's symbol was etched into the wood, pulsing with a faint, anxious light.

A shadow flickered across the room, and Linh saw herself—older, weary, her eyes clouded with regret. The older Linh spoke, her voice brittle: "You always believed you could solve everything. But what if you're not enough? What if your knowledge fails, and everyone pays the price?"

The screens around her came alive, flashing visions of disaster—fractures she couldn't mend, friends she couldn't save, timelines collapsing because she missed something crucial. The weight of responsibility pressed down, cold and suffocating.

Linh's hands trembled. Doubt crept in, whispering that she was only one mind, one thread in an endless weave. What if she made the wrong choice? What if her best wasn't enough?

But then, through the storm of doubt, Linh remembered the moments when her insight had saved the team, when her calm had steadied their course. She remembered Mira's faith in her, the laughter and trust of Felix, Kiran, and Arjun. She remembered that even the strongest weave was made of many threads, not one.

She looked her older self in the eye. "I don't have all the answers. But I don't face the unknown alone. I trust my friends. I trust the tapestry we build together."

The knot's light grew stronger, banishing the shadows. The visions on the screens faded, replaced by images of hope—timelines healed, futures bright, the team standing together.

The clock's ticking slowed, then stopped. A doorway of light opened at the far end of the room.

Linh smiled, her resolve renewed. "We're stronger together. That's enough."

She stepped through the doorway, ready to rejoin her friends and face the First Weaver's final challenge.
