Work Visit - Part 3
 

"Papa!"
When Aoi spotted our father, he called out to him. But maybe because he was embarrassed in front of his coworkers, Dad simply gave a small wave without changing his expression.
"Aoi, don’t interrupt your father’s work, okay?"

After Mom gently warned him, Aoi quieted down—though his eyes were still sparkling as he watched Dad, looking different from usual.
Dad’s coworkers, noticing us, grinned and began teasing him, which promptly earned them a scolding before they returned to work.
Having confirmed that Dad seemed to have a good relationship with his coworkers, Ayaka-chan-san called out to us.

"Today’s training is a simulation of combat against a large hostile virtual lifeform. It looks like they’re just about to start."
Looking toward Dad’s group, we saw they had finished gearing up and were heading into a room marked Virtual Training Chamber. Once everyone was inside, the wall turned transparent so we could see in, and an announcement played.
"Simulated enemy: Large boar-type virtual lifeform. Threat level: B. Beginning training."

As soon as the announcement ended, the sterile white room transformed into an open clearing in a forest. I don’t know the specifics—honestly, I’m too lazy to look it up—but I assume it stimulates your visual and tactile senses to make the illusion feel completely real.
From deep within the newly formed forest landscape, a massive shadow began slowly approaching.
"Contact. Formation B against large targets!"

With Dad’s sharp command, his team moved smoothly into formation as the shadow came closer. Just as those in front began activating their abilities, the creature revealed itself.
"BRRRRHH!"
What appeared was a monstrous boar, about 10 meters long and 7 meters tall, with massive tusks and hooves. Upon spotting Dad’s team, it charged at them with terrifying speed.

"〈Enhancement: Targeted Area〉!"
Dad focused his energy into his lower body, crouching so low it looked like his body would scrape the ground.
"I’ll launch it. Rear guard, be ready."

"Wait, Kouta-senpai?!"
DOOOOOM!
Ignoring his bewildered teammates, Dad charged at the boar with a thunderous sound, slipping in between its legs in a flash.
A split second later, an enormous impact struck ❖ Nоvеl𝚒ght ❖ (Exclusive on Nоvеl𝚒ght) the boar’s underbelly—so powerful that even we outside the room could feel it.

"BWUUOOHHH?!"
With its legs splayed nearly 180 degrees, the boar was launched high into the air, its momentum still carrying it forward. Dad stood with his leg raised in a follow-through motion, having delivered a perfectly timed uppercut to the creature's gut.
"Ugh, seriously! Long-range team, hit it with everything you’ve got!"

Snapped out of their shock, the rear guard quickly took aim and unleashed their abilities, pummeling the airborne boar with a barrage of attacks.
The beast exploded midair, and its scattered remains slammed into the transparent wall in front of us.
"He really went all out again, huh?"

"Yuuka-senpai, that wasn’t ‘going all out’—that was complete overkill!"
Mom commented casually, while Ayaka-chan-san shouted in disbelief. I felt the same way. Up to now, we’d only seen Dad act in a defensive, protective role—but now, without needing to hold back, he showed his full offensive power. He was a beast.
Maybe that’s just expected of the father of a future hero.

And speaking of said future hero…
"Fooooh! Papa’s amazing!!"
Aoi, completely unbothered by the boar remains slamming into the wall just moments ago, was absolutely thrilled. With that adorable appearance, is he going to grow up into a serious battle junkie?

As I pondered that, the virtual room returned to its sterile, blank state, and the transparent walls returned to normal. The door opened, and Dad and his team walked out.
"Kouta-senpai...? Don’t you think you overdid it a bit just to impress your kid...?"
"Mm… my bad."

Dad, surrounded by exasperated coworkers, looked a bit sheepish. Still, the way he glanced at the beaming Aoi, it was clear he couldn’t hide his satisfaction.
"Anyway! That wasn’t proper training at all—reset the simulation and let’s do it over!"
"Yeah, sorry. I’ll… try to hold back this time."

And so, Dad—who didn’t sound the least bit like he planned to hold back—and his coworkers reentered the training chamber, while Aoi continued to watch them with sparkling eyes.
Tips: Papa is among the strongest humans alive.
