Shackles of the Divine

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Trials of Strength

---

The days turned into weeks, and Li Yunxiao's life became a whirlwind of rigorous training, intense study, and the ever-present tension of living under the watchful eyes of the Triad of Power. Each day brought new challenges, and each night left him exhausted but more determined than ever. The three women—Lady Xianyu, General Zhao Ling, and Priestess Lan Hua—pushed him relentlessly, each in their own way, to unlock the depths of his potential.

But as Li Yunxiao grew stronger, so too did the shadows that lurked within him. The power he had awakened was a double-edged sword, and the more he used it, the more he felt its weight pressing down on his soul.

#### **The Physical Trial**

General Zhao Ling was the first to test Li Yunxiao's newfound strength. She led him to a secluded training ground deep within the estate, a place where the air was thick with the scent of earth and the sound of clashing steel.

"Today, we test your limits," she said, her voice firm and unyielding. "You will face a series of challenges designed to push you to your breaking point. Only by overcoming them will you prove yourself worthy of the power you possess."

Li Yunxiao nodded, his amber eyes filled with determination. He had come to respect General Zhao Ling, despite her harsh methods. She was a woman of discipline and honor, and he knew that her training was meant to prepare him for the trials ahead.

The first challenge was a gauntlet of obstacles—walls to climb, pits to leap, and enemies to defeat. Li Yunxiao moved with a grace and agility that surprised even himself, his body responding to the rigorous training he had undergone. But as he reached the final obstacle, a towering wall of stone, he felt a surge of energy within him, a power that threatened to overwhelm him.

"Focus!" General Zhao Ling barked, her voice cutting through the haze of his thoughts. "Control your power, or it will control you!"

Li Yunxiao gritted his teeth, his mind racing as he tried to rein in the energy that pulsed through his veins. With a final burst of strength, he scaled the wall and landed on the other side, his chest heaving with exertion.

General Zhao Ling nodded in approval, a rare smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Not bad," she said. "But you still have a long way to go."

#### **The Mental Trial**

After the physical trial, Li Yunxiao was taken to the library, where Priestess Lan Hua awaited him. The room was filled with the soft glow of candlelight, and the air was thick with the scent of old parchment and incense.

"Your body is strong," Priestess Lan Hua said, her voice calm and soothing. "But your mind must be stronger. Today, we will test your mental fortitude."

She led him to a table where a series of ancient artifacts were laid out—a crystal orb, a set of rune stones, and a scroll covered in intricate symbols. "These artifacts are tied to the supernatural," she explained. "To master them, you must first understand their secrets."

Li Yunxiao nodded, his curiosity piqued. He had always been fascinated by knowledge, and the prospect of learning about these artifacts excited him.

The first artifact was the crystal orb, its surface shimmering with a faint, ethereal light. Priestess Lan Hua placed her hand on the orb, and the room was filled with a soft, humming sound. "Focus your mind on the orb," she instructed. "Let your thoughts flow into it, and see what it reveals."

Li Yunxiao obeyed, his mind racing as he tried to focus on the orb. At first, he saw nothing but the swirling light within the crystal. But as he concentrated, images began to form—visions of a distant land, a place filled with towering mountains and ancient ruins.

Priestess Lan Hua watched him closely, her blue eyes filled with a mixture of hope and concern. "What do you see?" she asked, her voice soft and encouraging.

Li Yunxiao described the visions, his voice trembling with awe. "I see a land of mountains and ruins," he said. "There's something there... something powerful."

Priestess Lan Hua nodded, a faint smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Good," she said. "The orb has shown you a glimpse of the future. Remember what you have seen, for it may guide you in the trials to come."

#### **The Emotional Trial**

The final trial was the most difficult of all. Lady Xianyu led Li Yunxiao to a secluded garden, a place filled with the scent of blooming flowers and the soft sound of running water. The garden was bathed in the golden light of the setting sun, and the air was filled with a sense of tranquility.

"Today, we test your heart," Lady Xianyu said, her voice filled with a playful malice. "You have proven yourself strong in body and mind, but what of your emotions? Can you withstand the temptations of the flesh and the pull of desire?"

Li Yunxiao blushed, his innocence betraying him once again. "I... I don't understand," he stammered, avoiding her gaze.

Lady Xianyu laughed, a melodic sound that sent shivers down his spine. "Oh, you're adorable when you're flustered," she said, her fingers tracing the outline of his jaw. "But don't think your innocence will save you. You must learn to control your emotions, or they will control you."

She stepped closer, her body pressing against his, and Li Yunxiao felt a strange mix of fear and fascination. His heart raced, and his mind was filled with conflicting emotions. He wanted to pull away, but at the same time, he was drawn to her, his desire warring with his sense of propriety.

"Focus," Lady Xianyu whispered, her breath warm against his ear. "Control your emotions, or they will consume you."

Li Yunxiao gritted his teeth, his mind racing as he tried to rein in the emotions that threatened to overwhelm him. With a final burst of willpower, he stepped back, his chest heaving with exertion.

Lady Xianyu smiled, a look of genuine admiration in her violet eyes. "Not bad," she said. "But you still have a long way to go."

#### **The Night of Reflection**

That night, Li Yunxiao lay in his bed, his mind racing with the events of the day. The physical trial had pushed him to his limits, the mental trial had tested his intellect, and the emotional trial had challenged his very soul. He was beginning to understand the true nature of the power within him, and the weight of the responsibility that came with it.

As he drifted off to sleep, he felt a sense of determination settle over him. He may have been a slave, but he was determined to rise above his circumstances and become something greater. The trials had only just begun, and he knew that the path ahead would be fraught with danger and uncertainty. But he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, for he was no longer just a slave—he was a warrior, a scholar, and a man of power.
