Chapter 627: Hard to Make a Move
"Little Hooligan has also hit a wall?" Xu Qigang gloated.
"Don't even mention it. I hadn't even started to make a move, and there's already a love rival." Qin Yue scratched his head in distress, "Sigh! If he were a comrade, I'd beat him to death, but he's a businessman, looks so fragile that it makes me feel bad about hitting him."
Sheng Ning followed behind, and upon hearing the words "make a move," she asked out of curiosity, "What kind of move are you planning to make?" Qin Yue was quite handsome, and there was a lazy aura about him; one could tell at a glance that he was raised in a wealthy family. In the village, he had probably made all the city girls go crazy for him.
"No...no!"
"Really no..."
The two chorused together.
"Really?" Sheng Ning hadn't thought much of it at first, but their reaction made her suspicious.
"Right! When are you planning to go back?" Xu Qigang hurriedly changed the subject.
This was an issue at hand, and Sheng Ning also thought that the old man couldn't possibly stay in the countryside forever; the General Union wouldn't agree to it for long. So when she heard Xu Qigang ask, she also looked at Qin Yue curiously.
"We're leaving after lunch." When it came to serious matters, Qin Yue showed none of that rascally air, instead exuding an imposing presence. "Nearly driven crazy by the phone calls, if it weren't for Mr. Su insisting on waiting for your return, we would have left that very evening."
Their trip was well-equipped; they even brought a communication telephone. Starting from the day before yesterday, President Su, Director Su, Chairman Meng, the General Union, and the main compound were ceaselessly calling, to the point where they wanted to tear the phone out.
Safety was very important for the elderly, Mr. Su, and his body couldn't take much.
After eating breakfast in the morning, Mr. Su moved a small stool and sat at the entrance of the courtyard to soak up the sun. Sheng An did the same, a small stool in front of her with a large sieve, filled with corn cobs.
In the winter when there wasn't much to do, they'd shell corn while sunbathing.
The tremble in the old man's hands made it impossible for him to shell corn, but that didn't stop him from directing An'an.
"You're not doing it right, your hands will hurt if you shell it like that."
Sheng An stopped her movements, "Then how do you suggest I do it?"
Mr. Su took two corn cobs from the sieve, rubbed them together, and indeed it was faster and took less effort. "Hahaha... see, isn't it amazing?" After demonstrating, Mr. Su proudly put down the corn cobs.
Sheng An gave a thumbs-up, "Grandpa, I would never have guessed! You still talk about this."
"Of course, I am the son of ordinary folk, too."
Sheng An let out a surprised noise, "That's not right! I clearly heard people say that your family used to be a rich landlord." She had heard it from Little Hooligan that the Su Family was a landlord in Shanxi, so wealthy that their silver coins wouldn't even fit in the storeroom. It was only after Mr. Su joined the revolution that he squandered the family fortune.
"Nonsense, how could our family be landlords?" Mr. Su became unhappy, "Clearly, we were red-blooded poor peasants for eight generations. When I was young, I was so hungry I ate tree bark and roots, and when not at school, I still had to beg for food."
