She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 629: Accepting Grandpa

Mr. Su pulled Sheng Ning in front of him and took out a red envelope from his pocket, tremblingly handing it over to Sheng Ning. "Here, Ningning, this is a gift from your grandpa."

Sheng Ning looked at the red envelope in front of her, feeling as if her hand weighed a thousand golds, unable to lift it. She knew that once she accepted this red envelope, she would truly acknowledge this grandpa.

She felt a bit unwilling; having been reborn into this life essentially negated all the experiences and pain from her past life.

Her purpose in being reborn was to change her fate, not her origins.

"Take it!" Sheng Laosan became anxious, urging repeatedly, "This child, it's from your grandpa, of course, you should take it."

Sheng Ning turned to look at her father, pursed her lips slowly, and lifted her hand. She simply couldn't refuse her father's request. Moreover, the old man had been staying at their home for nearly four days now. She wasn't insensitive to this affection.

She then turned her head toward Xu Qigang, seeking his opinion.

Xu Qigang nodded slightly.

"Hurry up and take it." Sheng Laosan urged again.

"Thank you, Grandpa." Sheng Ning clenched her teeth and finally made a decision. Alright! She would only recognize this one person from the Su family, and have nothing to do with the rest.

"Very well…" Mr. Su was genuinely happy! He held Sheng Ning's hand, unwilling to let go, rambling on, "Ningning, it's my fault. I've let you suffer all these years, I am sorry… Can you forgive your grandpa?"

Sheng Ning shook her head.

Mr. Su's heart tightened again, nervously asking, "What is your wish? Tell your grandpa, and I can fulfill it." He had dedicated his life to the country, never taking advantage of the state even in his old age. Now, while he was still alive and using his influence, he could fulfill unimaginable wishes for Ningning.

The others also watched Sheng Ning nervously, those in the room fairly familiar with her. Sheng Laosan worried that the girl might revert to her old habits and make some excessive demand, wanting to scold her, but Xu Qigang subtly stopped him.

"Father, trust in Ningning," Xu Qigang whispered.

"Alright!" Sheng Laosan nodded, feeling slightly guilty. Being a father, he felt useless; throughout the years, he had allowed Ningning to suffer hardships. The rural living conditions indeed couldn't compare to the city, much less to the golden life in the homes of General Union Courtyard leaders.

"Ningning, just say it," Mr. Su hoped fervently that his granddaughter would make a demand of him, which would ease a lot of his guilt.

If there was the slightest thing he couldn't do for Ningning, he would feel utterly useless.

"It's not that!" Sheng Ning smiled, but tears involuntarily welled up in her eyes, "My shaking my head wasn't because I can't forgive you, but because you weren't at fault. You didn't know the truth, so this mistake isn't yours."

"But... this all still involves Su Yun…" As Sheng Ning spoke this way, Mr. Su felt increasingly uncomfortable. Ningning was so lovable and sensible, infinitely better than her irresponsible mother.

She could have been capricious and made unreasonable demands, and whatever she did would have been forgiven. But instead, she didn't act out at all and was so understanding.

On the other hand, Su Yun, as a mother, had really crossed the line. Thankfully, he had driven her out of the house before coming here.
