Shinigami: Medicine Can't Save The Soul Reaper Society

Chapter 261: Chapter 262: Bankai: Shinjo Kabutsu

What was originally intended as Makoto's "final trump card" for Fon to balance her weaknesses in frontal assaults was unexpectedly revealed so bluntly by her.

And to make matters worse, she used it against an ally. This left Makoto with the unmistakable feeling of having set himself up for failure.

Under Makoto's influence, Fon had long since abandoned the habit of explaining her abilities. Instead, she turned into a streak of white light, hurtling straight towards Gin.

Gin's expression remained unchanged. As he retreated, his Shinso once again shot towards Fon, aiming to pierce her.

However, in her Shunko state, Fon was like a living embodiment of high-level Kido. Every movement was imbued with explosive bursts of Kido energy intertwined with her Hakuda techniques.

Although her speed was far inferior to the extension and retraction of Shinso, this did not mean her dynamic vision couldn't track its trajectory.

As the blade of Shinso approached her, Fon, wrapped in white light, drove her fist into the Zanpakuto with immense force.

"Boom!"

A thunderous explosion echoed through the air!

Gin felt the impact reverberate through his arm as if Shinso might be torn from his grip. For a moment, he thought he heard the blade let out a mournful cry.

The structure of Shinso made its blade slightly more fragile than that of other Zanpakuto due to its extension and contraction capabilities. In the past, Gin had relied on its dusting and reformation ability to compensate for this weakness.

But after sacrificing part of his soul, Shinso had lost that ability, leaving it more vulnerable—especially against someone like Fon, who could track its movements with precision.

Even so, Gin's expression didn't falter. Rather than continuing to attack recklessly, he switched tactics, skillfully evading Fon's relentless pursuit.

His Shunpo was undoubtedly swift.

Yet, in front of the current Fon, it was slightly inadequate. No matter how nimble Gin was, Fon was always right on his heels.

"Shunko!"

"Boom!"

Another burst of white light exploded. Despite raising his arms to block, Gin was sent flying by the overwhelming force.

Without hesitation, Fon pursued him, her ponytail streaming behind her as she sped along the ground like a streak of white lightning. The Kido energy radiating from her body became even more intense.

Clearly, she was determined to end this confrontation once and for all.

"I cannot lose!"

"Whether it's to keep up with Makoto-kun or to give meaning to the first half of my life, I must become the captain of the Second Division and the Commander of the Onmitsukido!"

"So, Gin Ichimaru… fall before me!"

Her rising emotions caused the light of Shunko to surge even more fiercely, so much so that her eyes now glowed with a radiant white as they locked onto Gin, who was airborne.

In stark contrast to Fon's fiery resolve, Gin remained eerily calm. His face betrayed no emotion as his icy-blue eyes glimmered with unwavering determination.

In his mind, two figures seemed to linger—Rangiku and Makoto.

Then, with a sudden step in midair, Gin halted his flight, pivoting sharply like a venomous serpent poised to strike. He steadied Shinso with one hand, pressing its hilt against his other palm.

Facing the radiant white streak racing towards him, Gin's lips parted slightly.

"Bankai: Kamishini no Yari…"

Just as the two forces seemed destined to collide, a gentle voice intervened between them.

"Did you forget? This is a three-way match, and it's merely a sparring session. You shouldn't harbor such killing intent towards your comrades."

As soon as the words echoed, Makoto appeared between Gin and Fon. At the very moment his feet touched the ground—

"Boom!"

Without chanting a release command or even unsheathing his blade, the entire training field was instantly blanketed in verdant grass. Towering trees erupted skyward, forming an impenetrable barrier between Gin and Fon.

The scene gave the onlooking captains the impression that Makoto had activated his Bankai.

Typically, only those who had completely subdued their Zanpakuto's spirit and mastered its Bankai could release it without an incantation.

Even Unohana, unshakable as she was, found herself momentarily stunned.

"When did Makoto master Bankai?"

Aizen, however, remained impassive. As someone who considered Makoto his equal, Aizen had never doubted his ability to master Bankai swiftly.

"In the past, it was likely that Makoto simply chose not to reveal it."

Adjusting his glasses, Aizen withdrew his gaze from Gin and directed it fully towards Makoto.

Makoto, seemingly unaware of Aizen's scrutiny, or perhaps deliberately ignoring it, found himself the focal point of attention.

With Gin and Fon on the verge of a decisive clash, Makoto had no choice but to intervene.

As the towering trees forcibly separated the two combatants, the ground beneath Makoto's feet began to tremble.

In an instant, massive skeletal frameworks of wood emerged from the earth, and countless other trees began to converge around them.

Makoto theatrically plunged his Zanpakuto, Shinro Bansho, into the wooden structure beneath him and merged seamlessly into the growing mass.

Then, his resounding voice echoed through the field.

"Bankai: Shinjo Kabutsu."

(Bankai: Buddha of the Forest)

In mere moments, the skeletal framework transformed. Within a few breaths, it formed a colossal Buddha, seated atop a dense foundation of intertwined trees. The massive figure occupied over half the enormous training field, its towering height of more than a hundred meters dwarfing everything around it.

The appearance of the giant Buddha was so overwhelming that it seemed to pierce through the First Division's training grounds, drawing the attention of the entire Seireitei.

Countless arms extended from the Buddha's back, forming a wheel-like halo of branches and limbs that radiated an awe-inspiring divinity.

Upon closer inspection, the Buddha's face bore a striking resemblance to Makoto's—its expression exuding compassion, serenity, and boundless mercy.
