Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 538: 537: A Trap

"Who the hell is he?"

'Who the hell is he? I want to figure that out also.'

Although Ryan was urged to say these words out loud, he knew that if he did, he would suddenly lose the advantage he had over Azhrun and the twins when it came to Corey.

He had no relationship with Corey. At best, they were acquaintances, but Azhrun, Kaelan, and the maidens of the Temple of Water did not know this, and Ryan planned on allowing it to remain this way.

'They most likely think both of us are allies, but they don't know that we're literally strangers. Damn it! Why didn't he tell me that he was a Runemaster, I'd have tried to sign an agreement with him which would make it easier for us to buy him from the Underworld.'

Ryan shifted his gaze from Azhrun to Corey who had not moved from where he stood. A confused light flashed in his eyes as he stared at Corey.

'But why didn't the Underworld inform us that they had another Runemaster? Were they trying to hide him from us?... But why?'

'Or does the Underworld not know that he's a Runemaster? If that's the case, then that makes it more complicated.'

'Pamela has been causing a massive storm among the upper echelons of the Underworld and top organizations… Hopefully, he's not as arrogant and insane as Pamela.'

"I asked a question, Ryan. Who is he?"

Azhrun's cold voice drifted into Ryan's ears, effectively disrupting his thoughts. Ryan looked at Azhrun with an indifferent expression, and then without saying a single word, he turned and continued staring at Corey.

"You don't need to know."

Azhrun's expression changed, and a tinge of anger flashed in his eyes.

"It's none of my business? Who do you think you are to say such a thing to me?"

Ryan chuckled, but just as he was about to reply, his expression changed. He snapped his head towards the Water of Purity, and then he saw a figure flash towards the Abyssal Leviathan.

The speed of the figure was so fast that it almost seemed like a blur in his eyes, and he was a Tier 5!

Ryan's gaze shifted towards the Abyssal Leviathan, and then his eyes widened when he saw a giant shark with blue crystals all over its body biting the body of the Abyssal Leviathan.

Although the shark was much bigger than the average shark, its size was not even up to a third of the Titanic serpent. Also, the shark was a mere Tier 4.

Ryan could have sworn he saw a tinge of disdain flash in the gaze of the serpent as it stared at the shark that was trying its best to bite through its scales.

The Abyssal Leviathan hissed, and then the scales around the shark secreted a black liquid that landed on the body of the shark. The shark barely had the time to react before its body corroded into a pile of flesh and blood.

The Abyssal Leviathan hissed, and then its gaze shifted to Ryan. Ryan gazed into its red eyes that contained a frightening malevolent intelligence.

Approximately forty-five seconds had gone by from the moment the Abyssal Leviathan made its appearance, and Ryan had been baffled by the fact that neither the Abyssal Leviathan, the Frost Warden, the Maw, and the Tentacled Scourge had not attacked the crab-like Goliathspawn.

Instead, the Tentacled Scourge had chosen to attack only Corey, and after that, it only retracted its tentacles and did not attack again.

Even with the rapidly approaching Goliathspawns, none of the abominations chose to attack the crab-like Goliathspawn which was also a Tier 5.

'Something is strange here.'

Ryan frowned deeply, and then he ignored Azhrun who was clearly angry, his gaze landing on Corey who stared back at him.

Ryan had a thought as he stared into Corey's pure white eyes, but then he dismissed it, and his lips parted open to speak.

"Let's leave this place. It's too dangerous to stay here at the moment, we can come back later."

Corey gazed at him with a calm expression but neutral expression, and then he shifted his gaze to the Abyssal Leviathan before shifting it towards the approaching Goliathspawns.

For a moment, Corey felt like the eyes of every single Goliathspawn were on him, and if he was being honest with himself, it was sort of terrifying seeing colossal existences gaze at you with eyes that were devoid of any emotion.

'And I'm meant to have 100.01 luck?'

Corey gave himself a mocking smile, and then he glanced at Ryan.

'I can't waste any more time… have to move or I'll be surrounded and attacked by both the Goliathspawns and the abominations.'

Although Ryan and the others might not know, Corey had a guess as to why none of the Tier 5 abominations were attacking the crab-like Goliathspawn or the eight of them.

The Queen of the Shattered Sea wanted both the abominations and the Goliathspawns to capture him because of the Infinity Crystals in him. Normally, the Song of The Queen was meant to be the cause of a terrifying battle between the abominations and the Goliathspawns, but this time around, the two species would most likely come together to capture him.

In fact, Corey could see that some of the abominations that had climbed the shell of the crab-like Goliathspawn had slowed down and they were slowly encircling the eight of them.

Although it was subtle, the bird's eye view of his Eyes of Omniscience could see it as clear as day. If he wasted any more time, he would be caught in a net of both abominations and Goliathspawns.

Just thinking about it was enough to make Corey frustrated and curse a lot of things inwardly. He sighed while shaking his head at Ryan, and then he turned.

Ryan had a baffled expression, and so did Azhrun, Kaelan, the twins, Melissa, and Old Man Poison when they saw Corey's reaction.

"What's-"

Before Ryan could even complete his sentence, his eyes widened when he saw Corey disappear from where he stood.

"What?"

His expression froze in sheer shock and confusion, and then a loud sound resounded in his ears.

Bang!

He quickly looked at Azhrun, but he saw that Azhrun was no longer on the shell of the Goliathspawn, but in the air.

He was flying at a fast speed but with a calm and indifferent expression, and his target became clear.

Corey.

To Ryan's stunned eyes, Corey was running on a platform made out of hexagon barriers in the air.

"What in the flying fuck is going on?"

Kaelan who was some meters away exclaimed, and this was the same thought that also went through Ryan's mind.
