Solomon in Marvel

Chapter 474: Chapter 473: The Gift from the Ancient One

The Christmas and birthday party was held as scheduled, and Solomon ensured he had the entire day free to sit at the dining table.

He sent gifts to many who couldn't attend, including Harold Finch and John Reese. Even Elijah, who was still in prison, received a Christmas plush toy through an intermediary.

As for Athena, being Solomon's adoptive mother, she received a draft of a thesis as a gift—a testament to the success of her teachings.

Solomon believed this was the best possible gift for Athena.

And it also provided a perfect excuse to assign more homework to the orphans.

The Ancient One's gift was the most powerful magic scroll Solomon could currently craft, intended to be transcribed into the Kamar-Taj library as part of the magic tome that bore his name.

That book sat right beside the Book of Vishanti, holding equal status as one of the core spellbooks accessible to Kamar-Taj's arcanists.

In return, the Ancient One gifted Solomon an arcane technique he could not yet comprehend.

It was a spell she had acquired while wandering the multiverse but had never once cast.

Beyond its practical applications, the spell was built upon a theoretical framework that enabled one to access the Akashic Records—the universal database of the cosmos.

And in many ways, the Akashic Records were synonymous with Eternity, the Supreme Cosmic Entity itself.

By granting Solomon this spell, the Ancient One had effectively secured him the recognition of Eternity.

Solomon had no doubt that this was a privilege the Ancient One had negotiated on his behalf.

To be acknowledged by Eternity meant being favored by the will of the universe itself.

It was an incredibly precious gift.

For all that she had taught and given him, Solomon truly felt indebted to the Ancient One.

"You are my successor. This is what you are meant to inherit."

Her tone was as calm and unwavering as ever.

In her eyes, the burdens Solomon would carry in the future were far heavier than those of the current Sorcerer Supreme.

This was merely a small token of aid.

So when Solomon suggested recruiting Stephen Strange as his assistant, the Ancient One had no objections.

In the past, the Sorcerer Supreme and Kamar-Taj were inseparable.

But with Solomon assuming leadership, the dynamics would shift.

The battle against extradimensional forces would become increasingly brutal.

The Ancient One had no intention of interfering in Solomon's plans, including the secret projects inside the Immortal City—she believed they were necessary.

Without such precautions, the future of humanity and the entire Prime Material Plane would be far worse.

Heaven, Hell, and the Abyss were all enemies of mankind, let alone the countless demon gods scattered across the cosmos.

Even though Solomon had devised strategies to combat the Upper and Lower Planes, the Ancient One still felt as if she had forcibly placed these responsibilities on his shoulders.

And no amount of assistance would ever be enough.

"Go and enjoy your life," she said, gently running her fingers through his soft hair.

Moments like this were running out.

Soon, slaughter and war would consume every second of his future.

And the Ancient One believed that the best thing she could do was to buy Solomon as much time as possible.

---

Samurne Shaw and Ms. Groves happily accepted their invitations to the gathering.

Neither of them had families anymore.

For many years, family reunions had been a foreign concept to them.

But since they were friends of the witches, they readily agreed when Solomon and the witches extended their invitations.

They attended the gathering alongside Maya Hansen, returning once more to the Witches' Apartment in New York.

(Truthfully, Solomon just didn't want to invite Tony Stark—that had nothing to do with the magical world. He was friendly to most people.)

If Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff hadn't been on a mission, he would have invited them too.

(They still received presents, though—delivered by pigeons.)

Bruce Banner, being a loner, had declined the invitation.

But he still received a gift—a charm that would help calm him down in critical moments.

This was extremely valuable to Banner.

Previously, Solomon hadn't gifted him one, not out of stinginess, but because Hulk's mental fortitude was incredibly difficult to penetrate.

A raging beast had absurd resistance to mind-altering effects.

But things were different now.

With his refined techniques, Solomon could influence Hulk's mind through alternative methods.

Whether the gift came early or late, Banner was deeply grateful.

---

"This is my first break in months."

Maya Hansen yawned, complaining about her ruthless employer.

She had slept for 24 straight hours.

If Solomon hadn't woken her up, she might have kept sleeping.

She barely had time to shower and change before rushing to the gathering.

The virologist was utterly exhausted.

Gideon Malick had delivered a batch of test subjects that needed urgent processing.

And epigenetics was an infuriatingly complex field.

After splicing DNA fragments from historical figures into the subjects, Maya had to meticulously observe their behavioral, physical, and cognitive changes—a job few could handle.

Now, she sat on the sofa, nursing a wine glass.

On the other end of the couch, Ms. Groves and Samurne Shaw were stuffing their faces with Dana's homemade snacks.

Samurne had a great appetite—she even asked Solomon when dinner would be served.

After all, they had come to eat.

Solomon introduced the Wuguaiyue family and the Hamir family to everyone present.

As for the witches—

Everyone already knew them.

Whether they were Kamar-Taj arcanists or ordinary people, they understood that the witches were the true mistresses of the household.

The party soon began.

It was Solomon's most relaxing day in a long time.

Wuguaiyue's husband truly was a master at roasting turkey—everyone loved the food.

Not just turkey, but also a roast goose prepared by Wuguaiyue's family and Cantonese dim sum.

No one would have guessed that a British policeman who naturalized as a Chinese citizen had such culinary skills.

Solomon had refused Athena's suggestion of a formal Christmas banquet.

He preferred this lively, intimate family gathering over cold social events.

It gave him a sense of warmth and belonging—something he had always longed for since coming to this world.

---

"Nineteen years old, Boya."

Bayonetta smirked.

"You're still two years away from the legal drinking age."

"As if the cops would come busting in here."

"The Sisterhood would never let them in."

Solomon casually poured himself a glass of wine.

"Cheers, darling."

"Oh-ho! The little boy is growing bold!"

A certain young wizard whistled, only to get smacked in the head by Hamir.

"I ordered dim sum delivery!"

"From where?"

"A new place—Dian Dou De!"

"Dian Dou De? Not even dogs would eat there!"

Hamir smacked the young wizard again.

"Go to Lin Heung Teahouse instead, you fool!"
