Chapter 206: Training for competition!

A few more days passed-

Under the open sky, Jin Wei and Chen Zin stood facing each other in the grassy expanse, a gentle breeze rolling over the fields.

"Ready, Zin'er?" Jin Wei's voice carried a hint of mischief, though her gaze was sharp as she gripped the wooden sword in her hand.

Chen Zin took a deep breath, the weight of her wooden sword giving a familiar comfort in her hand.

She knew Jin Wei wouldn't go easy on her today. "Always ready, Master."

*swoosh* Without further warning, Jin Wei lunged forward, her wooden blade glitching a swift blur aimed at Chen Zin's shoulder.

Chen Zin instinctively raised her sword to block, bracing against the impact.

*clank* The force behind Jin Wei's strike sent a shock up Chen's arm, but she held firm, gritting her teeth.

Jin Wei didn't hesitate, instantly moving into another attack.

She twisted her body, sending a sweeping strike toward Chen Zin's legs.

Chen Zin jumped back, barely dodging in time as Jin Wei's wooden sword brushed the tips of the grass.

Her strikes were fluid, every movement connected seamlessly to the next.

There was no pause, no moment to catch her breath, as Jin Wei pressed forward with relentless grace.

"Come on, Zin'er," Jin Wei called, her voice light yet encouraging.

"Don't just defend."

Taking her master's words to heart, Chen Zin steadied herself, adjusting her stance as she parried another attack.

*clank*

She sidestepped, trying to read Jin Wei's movements, to anticipate the next strike.

Chen Zin focused, honing in on Jin Wei's stance, her breathing, the faintest shifts in her gaze.

She saw an opening... a slight shift in Jin Wei's footing, and took it.

*woosh* She lunged, aiming her sword at Jin Wei's side.

But just as her wooden blade was about to connect, Jin Wei twisted effortlessly, avoiding the strike with a fluidity that left Chen Zin momentarily off-balance.

"Nice try," Jin Wei teased, dodging to the side.

"But you're still thinking too much. Sword intent isn't just about seeing your opponent's movements... it's about feeling them."

With that, Jin Wei closed the gap between them, launching into a flurry of strikes that forced Chen Zin onto the defensive.

*clak* *clak* Each impact reverberated through Chen's body as she blocked and parried, her arms straining against Jin Wei's relentless assault.

"Haaa..." She could feel her breathing growing heavier and her muscles starting to ache, but she refused to back down.

Jin Wei's strikes were precise, her footwork impeccable, every movement calculated to test Chen Zin's limits.

But despite the intensity, there was a lightheartedness in her eyes, a silent encouragement that pushed Chen Zin to keep going.

"You're holding back, Zin'er," Jin Wei murmured, just loud enough for her to hear.

"Don't think about winning or losing. Just… move. You want to beat Yuelin, right?"

Taking a shaky breath, Chen relaxed her grip slightly, allowing herself to flow with the rhythm, rather than against it.

*woosh* She matched Jin Wei's pace, her movements becoming more instinctual.

A genuine smile appeared across Jin Wei's face as she noticed the shift in Chen Zin's stance. "That's it. Now, let's see if you can keep up."

Jin Wei increased her speed and her strikes became faster.

She feinted high, then spun low, catching Chen Zin off-guard as their wooden swords met with a satisfying crack.

*thud* Chen staggered, her foot slipping in the grass, but she quickly regained her balance with a new spark of determination in her eyes.

She countered with a move of her own, aiming for Jin Wei's wrist.

Jin Wei parried, but Chen Zin had already anticipated it, using the momentum to spin and bring her sword down from a different angle.

This time, Jin Wei had to step back and her eyes widened slightly in surprise.

"Not bad, Zin'er!" Jin Wei laughed, exhilaration in her tone.

"Looks like you're finally getting serious."

*clak* They continued sparring, each clash of their swords echoing across the open field.

Jin Wei was relentless, while Chen matched her with a newfound confidence, her movements growing bolder and sharper.

The sun began to dip toward the horizon, casting a warm glow over the grasslands.

Sweat beaded on Chen Zin's brow, her breath coming in quick gasps, but her eyes shone with determination.

Jin Wei, though equally worn, showed no signs of slowing down, her laughter ringing out with each exchange of swords.

Finally, with a powerful swing, Jin Wei disarmed Chen Zin, sending her wooden sword flying across the grass.

Chen Zin, breathless and exhausted, dropped to one knee, her chest heaving.

Jin Wei walked over, extending a hand to help her up. "You did well, Zin'er in today's training. Better than I expected."

Chen Zin took her hand, standing up on shaky legs. "Thank you, Master. I couldn't have done it without your patience."

Jin Wei chuckled, giving Chen Zin's shoulder a light squeeze.

"Now, go and rest."

Chen Zin bowed her head before walking down the hills, before entering the house.

...

It is already night-

*smocch* Zhang Yuan's hands gently squeezed Zhang Fumin's ass over her robes as he spread them open, while his lips were busily sucking on her lips.

"Yuan'er..."

Breathing in between the kisses, Zhang Fumin reciprocated his kisses with the same intensity as her hands are tightly gripped around his neck.

"I love you.. Fumin."

Muttering under her breath, he again captured her lips and pushed his tongue turning it into a passionate kiss.

Her tongue interlocked with his in a battle as they continued intertwining their tongues, tasting the rich taste of their mixed saliva.

Saliva drooled down her lips but she didn't stop and hungrily devoured his lips.

"Yuan'er..."

"Fumin..."

Her finger trailed softly across his cheek, tracing a line along his jaw, savoring the sensation of his warm skin under her touch.

After what felt like an eternity, they finally pulled away, their lips tingling from the intensity of the kiss.

Breathing deeply, Zhang Fumin gave him a pointed look, though there was a playful glint in her eye. "You bastard," she huffed, her tone half-teasing, half-serious.

"You're spending so little time with me these days."

Zhang Yuan raised an eyebrow, caught slightly off guard.

"Ever since Hua became your wife, you're focusing more on her and the others," she replied, crossing her arms in feigned indignation.

"You're forgetting about me." She lifted her chin, pouting, clearly awaiting a response.

With a low chuckle, Zhang Yuan pulled her close again, his hand brushing her hair from her face as he leaned in. "Forget you? Impossible."

He kissed her forehead tenderly, whispering, "I love you the most, Fumin."

Rolling her eyes, Zhang Fumin scoffed, though a faint smile betrayed her enjoyment. "Hmph, you're just saying that because you know you're in trouble."

Shaking his head, Zhang Yuan let his arms wrap more snugly around her. "Only the truth, my big sister."

His voice was a low murmur against her ear as he snuggled closer, burying his face into the curve of her neck. "You know I'm not lying."

A soft blush colored her cheeks, though she tried to maintain her annoyed facade. "You're a sweet talker, Yuan'er, but actions speak louder than words."

With a feigned huff, she gave him a little push, turning her back to him on the bed and pulling the blanket around herself. "If you love me so much, you wouldn't ignore me!"

Zhang Yuan chuckled again, reaching over and wrapping his arms around her from behind.

He nestled his face against the back of her neck, his breath warm on her skin. "If you want to be held like this, Fumin, you could've just said so."

His fingers found their way to her waist, giving it a gentle, playful squeeze.

"Who said I wanted that?" she replied, her voice stubborn, though her posture had softened as she leaned back into his embrace.

He placed a gentle kiss on her shoulder, his voice warm and low as he whispered, "What's really bothering you, Fumin? Tell me, and I'll do whatever I can to make it right."

She was quiet for a moment, letting his words sink in. "I just… miss our time together. Things are different now, and sometimes I feel like…" She trailed off, unable to voice her insecurities fully.

Sensing her vulnerability, Zhang Yuan's grip tightened. "You're my heart, Fumin. I may have other people in my life, but no one will ever take your place. You're special to me, always."

"Hmph." She tried to keep her indifferent tone, but a small smile played at her lips as she relaxed into him, her stubbornness melting away.

"Maybe you can make it up to me… if you keep holding me like this."

Zhang Yuan chuckled and Zhang Fumin suddenly got a weird idea "It's quite hot here.. I am going to take a little bath in the lake."

*swoosh*

As she said, both Zhang Yuan and Zhang Fumin disappeared from there.
