Chapter 224: The Finals [3]
Blood trickled from the cuts along Xue Hua's arms and torso, and her once-pristine silver hair was matted with sweat and grime.
She stared at Hong Shi, her gaze unwavering despite the tremor in her legs.
The crimson spear in Hong Shi's hand pulsed with energy, and the holy flames surrounding her body flared brighter, casting her in an almost divine glow.
She spat out a mouthful of blood, her lips curling into a savage grin. "Not bad, Hua," she said, her voice raspy but laced with amusement.
"But you'll need more than that to take me down."
Before Xue Hua could respond, Hong Shi slammed the edge of her spear into the ground.
The arena floor cracked and split beneath the force, and a surge of holy flames erupted from her body, engulfing the space around her.
The heat was suffocating, and the light was blinding, forcing Xue Hua to shield her eyes.
When the flames subsided, Hong Shi stood at the center of a scorched circle, her aura even more oppressive than before.
The white flames around her had taken on a golden hue, and the air itself seemed to tremble in her presence.
"I warned you," Hong Shi said, twirling her spear with a flourish.
"I've just increased the difficulty of the game."
*woosh* With a burst of speed, she closed the distance between them in an instant.
Xue Hua barely had time to raise her gauntlets before Hong Shi's spear slammed into her defense.
*THOOM* "ARGH!" The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the arena, and Xue Hua was forced to dig her heels into the ground to keep from being blown away.
Hong Shi didn't relent and unleashed a flurry of strikes, her spear moving with deadly precision.
Each thrust, swing, and slash was imbued with holy flames, leaving cracks of fire in their trail.
*clang* *clang* Xue Hua deflected what she could, her gauntlets sparking with each collision, but the sheer ferocity of the onslaught left her struggling to keep up.

One strike slipped past her guard, the spear's edge slashing across her side.
"Gah!" Xue Hua gasped, blood spraying from the wound as she stumbled backward.
Hong Shi pressed her advantage, delivering a brutal kick to Xue Hua's chest that sent her crashing to the ground. *boom*
"Argh!" Xue Hua coughed, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth as she struggled to push herself up.
Her vision blurred, and her body screamed in protest, but she refused to give up.
She clenched her fists, the glow of her gauntlets flickering faintly as she forced herself to stand.
"Not done yet?" Hong Shi taunted, her voice dripping with mockery.
She raised her spear, the runes along its length glowing brighter as she channeled more energy into it. "Let's see how long you can last."
*woosh* She thrust the spear forward, and a torrent of golden flames erupted from its tip, hurtling toward Xue Hua like a tidal wave.
Xue Hua raised her gauntlets, crossing them in front of her as she braced for impact.
*THOOM* The flames slammed into her, the force of the attack driving her to her knees as the ground around her melted under the intense heat.
*SWOOSH* When the flames subsided, Xue Hua was left kneeling in a shallow crater, her body battered and burned.
Her gauntlets were charred, and her breaths came in ragged gasps.
But even in her battered state, her eyes burned with defiance.
"You're... strong," Xue Hua admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
She forced herself to her feet, her legs shaking under her weight. "But I won't... go down without a fight."
With a breath, she charged at Hong Shi, her movements slower but no less determined.
She unleashed a desperate barrage of punches, her strikes fueled by sheer willpower.
Hong Shi parried them with ease, her spear disappearing like a blur as she countered each attack with brutal precision.
*thud* A sharp jab to Xue Hua's stomach left her gasping for air, and a spinning sweep of the spear's shaft sent her sprawling to the ground.
Before she could rise, Hong Shi planted a foot on her chest, pinning her down.
"Stay down, Hua," Hong Shi said in a serious tone and her gaze was cold "You've already lost."
Xue Hua gritted her teeth, her hands clawing at the ground as she tried to push herself up.
But her body refused to obey, and the weight of Hong Shi's foot kept her firmly in place.
...
Sitting in the VIP room, Zhang Fumin was amused looking at the arena "So, its.. Hong Shi's win at the end."
As she uttered, she glanced at Zhang Yuan, who had a slight smile on his face.
"No matter what anyone tries to do, the Heavens favor the Son of the Heavens, and its Hong Shi.. she would be the winner according to fate."
Zhang Fumin rolled her eyes "Plot armor kind of thing.. Hmm, well, its understandable.. I didn't give training for her to be overpowered."
"Even her skills are good with gauntlet; against sheer force and Holy Flames, she lost."
Zhang Yuan let out a chuckle "But still, there are people who wants to fight against the Heavens and forge their own fate...."
Hm?
...
Hong Shi's eyes narrowed as she felt a tremor beneath her foot.
Despite the overwhelming pressure, Xue Hua's body quivered with effort, her fingers digging into the scorched earth.
"Still resisting?" Hong Shi muttered, her voice tinged with disbelief but also grudging respect.
With a deep breath, Xue Hua twisted her body, dislodging Hong Shi's foot just enough to create an opening.
With sheer force, she pushed herself off the ground, staggering to her feet.
Blood trickled down her chin, and her entire body trembled, but her gaze remained locked on Hong Shi, burning with determination.
Hong Shi raised an eyebrow, twirling her spear. "Impressive. But you're only delaying the inevitable."
Xue Hua didn't respond. Instead, she clenched her fists, and the air around her began to shift.
A faint silver glow enveloped her battered form, her aura flickering like a dying flame but refusing to go out.
*woosh* She lunged forward, her movements sluggish but her intent razor-sharp.
Hong Shi moved to block, her spear sweeping to intercept, but Xue Hua anticipated the motion.
She feinted to the left, then pivoted sharply, delivering a powerful uppercut that caught Hong Shi off guard.
Crack! The gauntlet's energy-enhanced blow struck Hong Shi's chin, snapping her head back.
The force of the attack sent her stumbling a few steps, a thin line of blood appearing at the corner of her mouth.
Hong Shi touched her lip, her fingers coming away red, and she let out a low chuckle, shaking her head.
Her gaze shifted back to Xue Hua, and for the first time, her expression softened... if only slightly. "I underestimated you. You canstill hold on."
Xue Hua didn't let up and she launched herself at Hong Shi again, aiming a series of rapid strikes at her midsection.
Hong Shi blocked and dodged, her spear spinning in patterns, but Xue Hua's relentless assault forced her to stay on the defensive.
A quick jab from Xue Hua's left hand grazed Hong Shi's shoulder, followed by a spinning kick that landed solidly against her side.
The impact caused Hong Shi to grunt as she slid back, her boots digging into the ground to steady herself.
"WOAHHH!" For a fleeting moment, the crowd roared in approval, sensing a shift in the battle.
Xue Hua stood tall despite her injuries, her silver aura flickering like a stubborn flame against the gale of Hong Shi's overwhelming power.
Hong Shi's amused smile faded, replaced by a steely determination and she twirled her spear, the holy flames around her reigniting with an explosive intensity.
"Enough playing," she said, her voice cold and resolute.
"You've proven your spirit, Xue Hua. But this is where it ends."
But before she could move, *thud* Xue Hua's body fell to the ground, exhaustion catching up to her.
Hong Shi took deep breaths, her chest heaving up and down as she stared at the sky 'Fuck this body.. I am still not strong enough to defeat this Bitch...'
She closed her eyes as a tear slipped her eyes 'I am sorry, Mother, I can't get my revenge.. but one day I will surely defeat her.'
She opened her bloodied lips to speak "You might have won this fight," Xue Hua said, her voice trembling with effort.
"But I'll come back stronger... and next time, I'll defeat you."
Hong Shi stared down at her for a moment before stepping back, her flames receding as she lowered her spear. "We'll see," she said simply, turning away as the crowd erupted into deafening cheers.
The announcer's voice boomed into the air "WHAT ARE WE SEEING!!! THE FINALS HAVE ENDED WITH THE RISING STAR, THE HOLY MAIDEN, HONG SHI WINNING TEH FIGHT!"
"WOAHHHHH!!!!" The loud audience cheer came up, filling the air.
*flick* Zhang Yuan appeared on the arena and glanced down at Xue Hua, a smile appearing on his lips "You did well."
